2 years sober today. If I can do it, you can too. Is it easy? No. Is it as hard as your drunk brain tells you it is? Also no.
If you don’t wanna drink anymore, you don’t have to.
Jason Aldean is now, and has always been, a fucking idiot. Never once in the history of his existence in modern culture has he ever offered anything resembling an original coherent thought of substance. Nothing he has ever said has been worth hearing.
I appreciate everyone who’s reached out tonight. Truthfully I’m at a loss for words. He was my friend and I loved him very much. I can’t wait to hear what Justin, Guy, Townes, and Prine come up with. Goodbye friend. Maybe we’ll see each other again someday.

It’s p obvious she’s just being agreeable cause she doesn’t want a scene or risk upsetting him in a way that could be dangerous for her. Literally the one time she does challenge his control he starts coming unglued. She’s just trying to get out of there without incident, man.
Trophies don’t mean shit. The mere fact that
@MissMargoPrice
was nominated for a Grammy little to no mainstream radio play whatsoever is a win for independent artists everywhere. And I’m very proud of her.
Blaming people for losing their struggle w addiction is classless. Unless you’ve been through it yourself you need to shut the fuck up. And if you have been through it you already know better.
Just a reminder that the band Alabama released 21 singles from 1980 - 1987 and every single one of them went to
#1
. (Tar Top only went to
#7
then they had 6 more consecutive
#1
hits to close out the decade). In case you forgot just how massive that band was.
Going to
@JasonIsbell
at The Ryman tonight? I’ll be across the alley at
@RobertsWWorld
til 2am. Come thru for some country music. We have Buck Owens’ drummer, Randy Travis’ bassist, and George Jones’ steel player. Nbd just a stage full of legends. 🤷♂️
3 coolest white dudes who ever lived in no particular order:
1. Dr. John
2. Billy Gibbons
3. Leon Russell
Feel free to disagree, feel free to be wrong.
@questlove
Jack and Meg paired perfectly. They were both equally integral to the White Stripes’ sound. There was no “better drummer” for that band. Each one needed the other to make the music they made. It was symbiotic. A perfect musical match that produced a perfectly imperfect sound.
Interviewers; do not hesitate to ask me about my sobriety. It’s the most important part of my life. Without it, I’d have nothing. I know this from experience. I will discuss it at length any time it’s asked. If hearing it helps even one alcoholic, I’ve done my job. Ask away.
A lot of people I know getting sober rn. Just a word of advice from someone who’s been there (several times): It might not work out the first time, but that’s normal. People who get sober and stay sober on the first try are rare. Don’t get discouraged. Also, go to AA.
I started playing country music 25 years ago. In that time it's taken me places I never dreamed I'd go. Today is a landmark in my career and in my life. I just never really imagined this is what my life would be. I'd fully planned on being a honky-tonk singer til the day I died.
Stop saying these dudes don’t sound like Tyler Childers. They do. Objectively. And it’s likely on purpose. That’s how influence works. IT’S FINE. Do you know how many legendary country singers were just doing a Lefty Frizzell impression? That’s how music works.
@KarenElson_
The fact that when the band broke up Jack didn’t try to recreate the sound with another drummer and instead opted to go a completely different direction should tell you everything you need to know about how important she was to the band.
I play country music. Not alt-country, not ameripolitan, not americana, not trad-country, not neo folk outlaw whatever made up thing, none of that. Country music. It's not a dirty word. I am a country singer, I sing country music. Period.
I wonder how many Van Halen fans have ever heard of Emmett Miller. Probably not many, despite him being a massive star in the 20s. A big enough star that Van Halen recorded 2 of his songs (well one and a half). Leave Billie Eilish alone. She’s fuckin 17, grandpa.
I’m not gonna sit here and tell you I don’t have a questionable past w the confederate flag. I’m from Florida, of course I had rebel flag shit. But then I grew up and realized what that dumb flag meant to me wasn’t as important as what it meant to other people. 🤷♂️🤷♂️🤷♂️
Dear people who have decided not to listen to my music anymore because of my political beliefs,
I only made one record, dum dum. I already got your money. 😎
Love,
Josh
The Ernest Tubb Record Shop which first opened its doors 75 years ago this year is closing those doors for good this spring. Words cannot express the sadness I felt as I learned the news this morning…
I like seeing someone who has like “
#1
@JasonIsbell
fan!” or something like that in their bio, then looking down and seeing that Jason follows them. That’s so nice. I wish I was that nice.
Koozies are actually the best merch. It’s really a win/win for everyone. They only cost $5 for the customer, and they cost us less than a dollar to make. The customer gets a reasonably priced souvenir from the show, and we get a nice profit on our investment.
In case it wasn’t painfully obvious, the government is lifting restrictions to kick people off unemployment and force poor people to go back to work, so they can use the working class as a focus group to save rich lives. Just FYI.
@danbondissafe
@JoannaNewSum41
This is so accurate. A friend of mine was on tour in Europe and this German guy went to 3 shows in a row and when she asked him if he was a big fan he said “no, the first show wasn’t very good and I wanted to see if it would get better.”
Australia. If I don’t come out and hang after the shows please don’t take it personal. I just used to get really really shitfaced here and I’m trying not to do that. You’re all lovely people and I love you, I’m just trying to stay sober the best way I know how.
Conservatives just now learning, in the year 2022, that Willie Nelson’s politics are left-leaning is the funniest shit on earth. Like are you a fucking idiot bro? It’s not like he’s been in the liberal closet for 40 years and just sprung out that mf last week like GOTCHA HAHA!
It’s always funny to me when people call me a hipster. First of all, who cares? Also, what would you have me do? Ride a fucking horse through town? Apparently devoting literally your entire life to country music isn’t enough for some folks. 🤣🤣
Where did the stupid people get all this confidence? We used to shun these batshit people until they stopped saying dumb shit out loud. We need to bring that back. I’m not much for bullying, but maybe just a little???
Robert’s is safe. You can rest assured on that. Barring a natural disaster or another RV bomb that mf ain’t going nowhere. But should anything happen I will fucking chain myself to that place. I’m not willing to go to jail for much, but I will 100% go to jail for Robert’s.
One time I was backstage at The Ryman watching Jack White and I was given one single mushroom. It sent me into a tailspin. I tried to hold on but I went to Edgefield afterwards and some Australian guy put Who Let The Dogs Out on the jukebox and I had to leave.
Man…Luke Bell…what the fuck. RIP to a real one. Been a long time since I saw him and I was just talking about him the other day wondering what he’s been up to. Truly a sad night for country music.
The men of this country need to step up and stand behind women. We are failing them. We are not men and women we are people, and we have to stand together. And when one of us is hurt, it hurts us all as a nation. Women are hurting. We can't let them fight this alone.
Everybody talking about how wildly offensive Dave Chappelle’s new special was, and it was.
But nobody’s talking about how it also just wasn’t very funny, and it wasn’t.
Yo my Netherlands shows are packed wtf. I remember playing to like 4 people in Amsterdam a few years ago. Last night was packed nuts to butts the whole room and tonight is sold out.
The people who tell musicians to keep their political opinions to themselves are the same people who throw temper tantrums in the middle of Walmart if someone asks them to wear a mask.
One of the hardest parts of sobriety is seeing people you know struggling, and knowing that all they have to do is quit drinking, but also knowing (from experience) that it’s not your place to tell them that.
The intent of my recording career is to explore Country Music in all its forms. At least for the time being you’re not going to get 2 records from me that sound the same. You’re gonna get a deep dive and exploration into the history of the genre.
Rosetta invented rock n roll in the 40s. Before Hank Williams, before Ike Turner, and a decade before Bill Haley’s cracker ass. History books won’t tell you that rock n roll was invented by a queer black woman. But this is fact nonetheless.
When you know your music history you get humbled quick. The Black 1950s churches got funkier than a horse stall. Like them old Dixie hummingbirds shouts made rappers sound like pilgrims. Rock guitarists would have soul fans say ‘ My auntie ROSETTA Tharpe woulda shredded yo ass’
Ok so this is crazy…
I’m at
@RobertsWWorld
this morning, but tomorrow night I’ll be taking the stage at
@NissanStadium
for the
@NHL
Stadium Series.
I don’t think I’ll be on the TV or anything but I am gonna be playing for about 70,000 people…which is absolutely bonkers lol.
