Back in 2007, VT suffered one of the worst school shootings in U.S. history. ECU was its first home game and gifted VT $100,000, which led to Hokie fans chanting "Thank you Pirates" when the check was presented at the game. Now ECU is in need of help and VT seems disinterested.

Last year, the SEC received eight bids and advanced zero to the Elite 8. This year, the SEC got eight again and is off to a 1-5 start. No more than three will advance past Round 1. Meanwhile, the ACC — with 5 bids — has already advanced three and Duke should soon make it four.
