Back in December, former longtime Senator Paul Sarbanes passed away. The last time he was on the ballot was 2000, when he won with an older Democratic coalition. He carried 6 of 8 congressional districts at the time, and kept the other 2 close. #MDpolitics

Connecticut State Senator @WillHaskellCT won his first term in 2018 amid a Dem-favorable environment and the bottom beginning to fall out for downballot Republicans in the tri-state area. After defeating a 10-year incumbent Republican, Haskell was re-elected easily in 2020.

In the primary race to replace veteran Rep. David Price (D), establishment-backed state sen. Valerie Foushee won over progressive-aligned Durham Co. Commissioner Nida Allam. Foushee did well in most of the district except for the white parts of Durham county and Chapel Hill.
