Terms up! When I became #Makar , my dear dad, who was 91 at the time said - how long is your term in office? 5 years Dad, I said. Well your mother and I will just need to see oot your term in office, he said. And they very nearly did. Here’s to them and to all of you. Thank you!

A short obituary of my dad for his favourite newspaper. I put a Guardian in his oval coffin with him and his battered Thesaurus to help the quick crossword! My mum said, ‘Jackie, did you say you put a Guardian in with your dad? I hadn’t read it yet!’

Broke my mum out of her care home and she is back home now, phew, in time for her 90th birthday today! What would you like for your birthday, I asked her the other day. I would like Trump dumped, she said in a flash. I’m proud of her and her fighting spirit! Will drink to that!

Asked my mum on the phone, whose Care Home is in lock down #CoronavirusOutbreak , if she would like me to get her an iPad (so we could FaceTime) and she said an eyepad would be soothing on her eyes! Not that kind, I said - oh that, she said, well it would be soothing to see you!

Mum and Dad asleep through the bells - me up watching Jools. Maybe I am finally grown up! Only took me to 55! We used to go from house to house in this old street. But quite a liberating thing to see the new year in solo! Happy New Year yin and all!

When my mum and dad couldn’t make it out to go to @AyeWrite to hear @PeggySeeger - she came to them instead and they sang #Peace songs and ate scones. What an afternoon, my mum said! All afternoons should be like that! Aye, right! Peggy is on #Makar2Makar tonight @NTSonline at 7!

Had an amazing wee impromptu concert at my mum and dad’s house yesterday with the fabulous Suzanne Bonnar- and the district nurse popped in to give my mum insulin! If people can’t easily get out - bring it to them! Gaun yersel Suzanne!
