Keep your personal life private.
This helps you avoid:
1. Jealousy and evil eye
2. Harassment
3. Unnecessary controversies
4. Stalkers
5. Haters
The online world doesn't need to know the details of your life, and too many don't wish you well.
Stay private, stay safe.
It is truly profound that 1000 years ago, Muslim doctors were diagnosing depression and anxiety, prescribing practical solutions for them, and treating them as things that everybody experiences. Very different from the 20th-century cultural mindset that 'depression is low iman'!
I love the fact that Muslims in general are moving away from apologizing for our religion being different, to being proud of it.
If godless people want to be proud of their sins and immoral lifestyles, then Muslims should proudly promote the Truth and Divine Morality.
Time Management Tip
#5
Start your day with Fajr and work on one High concentration task immediately after Fajr, like studying, memorizing Qurโan or writing an article. You will get the task done in less time with stronger results.
Islam is a religion that demands the highest level of character from us, especially in business. There is no room in Islam for shady business deals, cheating customers, or hiding defects. (Earning Barakah, p. 130)

My father was murdered by robbers when I was eight years old. My mum raised us alone, running an Islamic school while raising 4 kids. I was the eldest and she wanted me to pursue Islamic studies fulltime. Thus began my journey of knowledge at age 13.

Allahโs Qadar works in amazing ways. Often the things that we wish were different end up being the things that benefit us the most in the long run. We must learn to trust Allahโs plan when facing the tests of life.
Islamic masculinity for 1400 years: be kind to your families, have good Akhlaq always, contribute to society, serve your Creator
21st Century Twitter "Masculinity": Picking fights with random non mahrams, takfiring the masses, self-praise, harsh towards the believers
Zina culture is disgusting and the cause of many of the problems of the modern world.
We need a return to modesty, dignity, and loving lifelong marriages. It begins with a rejection of zina-culture, and developing a positive attitude towards marriage.
Lowering the gaze and having refined character are fundamentals aspects of Islamic masculinity.
A vulgar male who loves immorality and allows his eyes to lust uncontrollably is not a real man.
A marriage is a sacred trust. You are libaas (a covering) for each other.
Do not expose your spouse's faults or secrets on social media.
If you have problems, solve it privately or through a qualified counselor.
Never gossip about your spouse in public.
Marriages are not built on Fiqh and only doing what is wajib.
Marriages are built on compassion, understanding, patience, compromise, love, and commitment.
In a truly Islamic economy, people should not to work multiple jobs to survive.
The economy would be designed such that it gives people time for worship, family, hobbies, community, socializing, and personal study.
We were not created to work to death. This is a modern-day
Don't think marriage is what you see in pictures on Instagram or Netflix.
Real marriage is hard work, commitment, sacrifice, and facing the trials of life together.
If you are realistic, your marriage will be a blessing.
Every Muslim should have a dedicated portion of the week for studying Islam.
We all should have good teachers with a good curriculum, and be consistent with our study and gradual improvement.
This is necessary for reaching higher levels of spirituality.
The Prophet ๏ทบ said, "Whoever wakes up secure in his property, healthy in his body and with enough food for the day, it is as if he owns the entire world." (al-Adab al-Mufrad 300)
We have so much to be grateful for.
Surah Kahf Reflection:
One of my teachers used to say, โDo not allow what is outside your control toย stop you from doing what is within your control,โ
The people of the cave personify this lesson. These were a small group of seven believers in a town that wanted to harm them.
Your Izzah (dignity), akhlaq (character) and adaab (manners) are among the most effective Dawah tools you possess.
We all represent Islam in how we carry ourselves in society and online.
Hyper-individualism is unislamic.
Your Lord has rights over you. Your ummah has rights over you. Your community has rights over you. Your family has rights over you. Your self has rights over you.
So give each of them their rights. Its not all about you.
The amount of times relatives have tried to persuade me to buy a house on a mortgage, saying that fatawa exist saying it is permissible as a necessity.
I live a debt-free, riba-free lifestyle. Let me rent in peace, I will buy a house cash one day if it is written for me.
In Islam, there is a difference between character (akhlฤq) and manners (adab). Character refers to our internal state, while manners refer to our actions. Manners can be faked, but good character canโt.
Dressing well, smelling good, being clean and well-groomed are all important aspects of Islamic manners.
You represent Islam wherever you go, so represent it well!
The Three Levels of Tawakul
Tawakul is an act of worship that is practiced on three levels.
The physical level is to work hard and to take the means to earn oneโs sustenance.
Does Islamic Studies need an update?
I sat with my children looking at the Islamic Studies curriculum for their ages. My children browsed through the textbooks and commented, โWe already studied all this year. We want to learn something new.โ I agreed with them. I had the same
I don't trust Non-Muslims who praise Islam or Muslims just to gain a Muslim audience, yet make no efforts to actually learn about and convert to Islam.
They are just marketing their channels to gullible Muslims by saying a few nice words.
๐งตAbout Homeschooling. I've been homeschooling my kids for 9 years now. Seeing all the back and forth about homeschooling on Twitter these past few days, here are some reflections based on experience.
There is absolutely nothing wrong with huge age gaps between husband and wife in Islam.
If you believe otherwise, bring your proof from Quran and Sunnah.
So many stories but my favorite memory:
2010 - I had saved up for Hajj, but a family member had an emergency and I gave my savings to them to cover their emergency expenses.
I got chosen for a free all-expenses paid 5-star Hajj trip that year, Alhamdulillah.
Things to be grateful for in South Africa:
1. Salah facilities at most Malls and Airports
2. Amazing halal restaurants all over the place
3. The nature and scenery
4. Its normal for Muslims to wear thowbs, hijabs and niqabs
5. Freedom of religion at its best
The primary source of barakah in Islam is oneโs relationship with Allah. If you are conscious of God and trust His plan, He will provide for you in ways you never imagined. This makes taqwฤ (piety) and tawakul (Trust in God) the two primary sources of barakah in oneโs earnings.
Keep your acts of worship private. Keep your family life private. Keep your financial success and salary private.
Keep your weaknesses private.
Privacy is beautiful. It gives people no reason to be jealous of you.
Everytime I feel like disappearing from society, I remind myself of this hadith:
โThe believer who mixes with people and is patient with their harm has a greater reward than the believer who does not mix with people, nor is patient with their harm.โ (Ibn Mฤjah 4032)
Your Izzah (dignity), akhlaq (character) and adaab (manners) are among the most effective Dawah tools you possess. We all represent Islam in how we carry ourselves in society and online.
Islamic knowledge should bring you closer to Allah, not boost your ego.
If Islamic knowledge is giving you an ego, then there is a problem in how you are pursuing it or applying it!
๐งต6 Spiritual causes of increasing Rizq
Rizq (sustenance) refers to everything Allah provides us with in this world. Islam teaches us that there are many spiritual ways to increase the barakah in our rizq. Here are six ways to do so.
The "only God can judge" crowd are the most judgmental and intolerant. Disagree with them, preach morality, portray an ethical lifestyle, and see how quickly they judge you.
Salah is the first thing we will be asked about on the Day of Judgment, and yet for many of us, it is the last thing that is on our mind.
Prioritize Salah and build your life around it.
Fornication and adultery are not human values. There are reasons why these things are prohibited in every major religion.
Any culture that allows it will implode within a century from the ripple effects of immorality.
Wanting a Caliphate does not mean we believe it will be a Utopia.
We just honestly believe a caliphate will be better for the ummah politically, economically, and spiritually, even if it is far from perfect.
Imperfect Caliphate > No Caliph
Alhamdulillah, I finally completed recording a 30 video series on the history of Islam (from Seerah until today). It took me 10 months to research and record this series.
In shaa Allah, I will release it next month as an online course and also as a downloadable video series.
The Messenger of Allah ๏ทบ said: โWhoever among you wakes up in the morning secure in his dwelling, healthy in his body, and having his food for the day, then it is as if the world has been gathered for him.โ (Tirmidhi)
Claiming that a woman was 18 when she got married 1400 years ago in Arabia creates more problems than it solves. For one, that would have been considered very late for one's first marriage in that culture. Most women were already mothers by 15 in that culture.
In the Muslim Golden Age, education was not primarily about the pursuit of wealth, fame and status. (Although such individuals did exist) The primary purpose of the Madrassa system was to raise citizens who would serve God and take care of Godโs Creation.
Humans were not created for a lonely individualistic existence. We are meant to be part of an ummah.
Spouses, family, righteous friends, neighbors, teachers, and mentors all are interdependent on each other for success.
Real men are busy worshipping their Lord, providing for their families, leading their communities, and helping the ummah.
They are NOT online seeking validation from others and telling the whole world how manly they are.
During the Golden Age of Islam, Abu Zayd al-Balkhi identified anxiety as the most harmful of all psychological difficulties and the root course of most other psychological problems. He even prescribed talk-therapy as a means of overcoming depression and anxiety.

๐งต A few facts about Islam in Spain (Andalus)
Did you know that Muslims ruled various parts of Spain for over 700 years. Here are some amazing facts about this period:
๐งตMisconceptions About Qadar (Destiny) and Goal-Setting
The topic of destiny is often misunderstood by some Muslims, pulling people in two opposite extreme directions. Here are a few things you need to know about Qadar.
๐งต Privacy โ a key to contentment and happiness
Nothing is private anymore. People share too much without realizing the consequences of oversharing.
A problematic trend I see on MT: American Muslims trying to impose their culture on other Muslims and not respecting the culture of Muslim lands.
This stems from American Exceptionalism and the idea that their culture is superior to all others. It isn't.
Abu Huraira reported that the Messenger of Allah ๏ทบ said, โAllah Almighty says: I am as My servants expects of Me. If he thinks good of Me, he will have it. If he thinks evil of Me, he will have it.โ (แนขaแธฅฤซแธฅ Ibn แธคibbฤn 639)
๐งต6 ways to maintain Ikhlฤแนฃ
It is extremely difficult to dedicate oneโs life to Islamic work without occasional lapses in oneโs intention. Our religion prescribes several methods to help up recognize and fix wrong intentions, and maintain ikhlฤแนฃ.
๐งตPrinciples for studying Muslim History
Many Muslims approach history with incorrect expectations and ideas. This leads to a negative reaction when they discover that history is not as they wish it was. Here are some principles for studying history.
The word feminism has lost its meaning on this app.
Any opinion expressed by a Muslim woman, no matter how grounded in the tradition, is dismissed as "feminism" by angry young boys, if it doesn't match their elementary understanding of Islam.
A forgotten sunnah in our times is caring for the elderly. It is a difficult task that leads to forgiveness of sins and stronger family bonds.
We must revive the tradition of taking care of the elders in our family, not just our own parents but any elders in need.
This statement exposed two opposite groups:
1) Youth with reading comprehension problems who want to assume the worst of these scholars
2) Deviant liberals who are actually upset that this statement strongly states the orthodoxy position on these issues.
1st group needs advice
Alแธฅamdulillah after many weeks of working with a number of prominent scholars in N. America, we have jointly written a statement of monumental importance entitled:
โNavigating Differences: Clarifying Sexual and Gender Identity in Islam."
Full PDF:
No matter what sins we have committed, even in Ramadan, we must never lose hope in Allah's Mercy. There are still a few more nights to earn forgiveness. Let us prioritize repentance during these final days of Ramadan.
My father was murdered when he was 29 years old. I was only 8 years old.
Because of this, I live each day knowing it could be my last.
Don't wait for a loved one to pass away to recognize this.
Islam gives us hope and a beautiful means to cope with grief and the loss of loved ones. Our optimism of being reunited with them in Paradise makes the entire process so much easier to digest.
3 major problems with most Islamic history courses:
1. They focus only on the first generation of Muslims
2. They are focused on facts, instead of deriving lessons
3. They hide the controversial/human moments, creating a false history and unrealistic expectations for the ummah
As an orphan who gave up hifz because I couldn't handle the violence and abuse from my teachers, I can never support the abusive behavior of some madrasa teachers. If anyone had to try that on my kids, I'd beat them up myself.
I know huffadh that were beat mercilessly to the point that reciting the Quran for these people is now associated with that trauma.
Donโt dare belittle the hideousness of this practice, this is a major problem amongst us and Western Muslims are right in criticizing it.
If your religion's fundamentals and morals can change with the times, then it cannot be true revelation from God. The moral principles revealed by the Creator are fixed and consistent.
Me: spends 10 months producing a detailed online course covering the History of Islam. Releases it for modest price of $46 ($30 when on sale)
Random Twitter Uncle: Shame on you for charging money for Deen!!!
This nonsensical attitude towards Islamic courses needs to change.
