Exactly 835 years ago, on the 4th of July in 1187 CE, Ṣālaḥ al-Dīn al-Ayyūbī freed Masjid al-Aqṣa from the hands of the crusaders. This picture (taken now!) is the original miḥrāb and calligraphy commissioned by him, and commemorates the liberation. May Allah free it again!

Tonight is the 25th night of Ramaḍān, and a Friday night. Ibn Rajab wrote that if an odd night in the last ten of Ramaḍān coincides with a Friday, there is a greater chance of it being Laylat al-Qadr. So do what you can tonight, and may Allah accept our efforts!

It is the Sunnah when salat cannot be prayed in the masjid that the muaddhin say 'Pray in your houses' instead of 'Come to prayer'. This muadhin, while calling to the Friday Prayers in an empty masjid, broke down in tears...😢 Allah help us.

One of my favorite ḥadīths: “Whoever is pleased with his good deeds, and saddened by his evil deeds, is indeed a believer” (Tirmidhī). No one is perfect. Try your best to continually do good, and feel guilty and repent for your shortcomings, until you meet your Lord.
