Wait ... are we criticizing them for ... staying true to the Source Material?
What!?
The biggest complaints about these live action anime adaptations have been that DON'T stay true to the source Material.
No one is ever happy, no matter what we get.

1st episode was an 8/10 for me. Im a huge fan, and I can tell they put a lot of effort. I actually appreciate this a lot. The respect to the characters is on point. The changes in the story do not bother me since the heart of it is there. That's what I wanted, I thought I was…

3.6 million views and 985 likes is about what I've come to expect from IGN takes lmao.
They gave Bebop live action a 7, just for reference. Clowns.

Zoro cut a man in half. They fought Morgan 3 on 1. They revealed Garps relationship to Luffy and they fought. Luffy never met Don Kreig. Arlong invaded the Baratie and kidnapped Buggy. No fight with Hatchan. Half the battle at Syrup Village is missing.
IGN WTF ARE YOU TALKING…

Not being familiar with the anime, I found the protagonist highly engaging because he is, god forbid, an optimist (!) who actually smiles. I am done with the brooding angst ridden heroes. When James Bond and Captain America are afflicted miserable sots, Luffy is refreshing.

As a big One Piece fan I get the criticism honestly. A lot of the 1:1 moments look really bad in live action and a lot of the changes to streamline the story and have character threads run through the season were done well.
I wish we could have gotten Loguetown and not rushed…
