Features like these are much easier to implement in an instance based game. It also helps if it was planned in advance. Unlike HSR, Genshin has a complex physics system that is very inviting for weird bugs, and events have a lot of interaction with environmental variables.

Each of miHoYo's games has been of great import to their growth and each one is loved. Heck, GGZ only has about a team of about 100, has messy code and old features, has next to no animations.... And Da Wei said in 2021 that he would be sad if he had to stop working with it.

QoL features aren't included on a preferential basis, they're just easier to add when a game is malleable. Since new content has to happen every 6 weeks, a lot of QoL ends up stuck at the bottom of the priority list.

@urlocalhamster The Hoyodex wiki uses Iterations for all versions, and Variants for subgroups (like God Kiana). Counterparts, alts, versions... All of those do work with enough context, and people quickly understand them, without the baggage of a word like expy.

Every time we explain to people that HI3 and HSR are not in separate universes but rather in a shared universe, someone says we're wrong because there are alternate versions of HI3 characters. Meanwhile, Silver Wolf and Bronya Rand are right there.

It's very normal for a game that is three years more recent to go three times as fast with its QoL at the start. Reason being that they had three more years to learn lessons from their previous games and to avoid 'rigidities' in the code that would make this harder to implement.

🧵A little bit of interesting history: Houkai3rd started as a manga on June 20, 2015 on HG2 accounts. Over a year before the game. The teaser had 'Pocky Girl' (Wendy), who wouldn't appear in HG2 until the Reborn storyline, way after Venti appeared in the Genshin manga in 2018.

The anime OP style animation with song actually has 2 major versions. The other one is not on EN youtube. They did include EN subtitles in the Chinese language youtube. The lyrics are different! CN version sung by Cha Lili, who sang Reburn for HI3.

Making this summary is extremely difficult. Each time we think we have it figured out, something pops up that turns the whole thing upside down. We have now found three different words that mean 'multiverse', although in none of those cases does it refer to the Imaginary Tree.

@wet_newdle Genshin's world is confirmed part of the Honkai Universe. Though the game's designed to work as standalone for new players, so most of the time it's not super noticeable. They are indeed not expies either.

(🧵1/4) Now this one is frankly upsetting. A refresher: 宇宙 (Yǔzhòu)(Uchū) means Universe 世界 (shìjiè)(sekai) means World In the Imaginary Tree explanation, they mostly got it right (apart from that plural). But they mess it up the same way as HI3 here. #HonkaiStarRail

We'll need to make a small edit to the article about Exploring the Honkai Universe. It is probably so that HI3 and GGZ both don't state that the Honkai ís a civilisation, but rather that the Honkai is used by it.

Personally, I am very disappointed that they did not distribute this version on non-Chinese platforms. Separating versions like this increases cultural alienation. However, it is a big relief that they included subtitles on the Chinese language youtube, that's a big deal.

Throughout the lore, consistently, we see the word 宇宙 (Yǔzhòu)(Uchū)(Universe) used as something all encompassing, containing the entirety of the Imaginary Tree/Tree of Existence (which is said to be a flawed interpretation of reality, but we'll probably learn more that later)
