This account is now being managed by a friend and will only post writing, podcasts etc. Helen will be back in April but only for a couple of hours a week.
Explanation:
Nonsense. "Wokeness" is an overwhelmingly wealthy, middle class white thing coming out of elite universities. DEI is a 9 billion dollar a year industry fuelled by capitalism & corporatism. From forthcoming book:
The fundamental axiomatic flaw of the “Anti-Woke” mind is that it allows groups with historical power to play the victim by taking anecdotal examples and packaging them into a conjured, conspiratorial ideology that threatens to upend the power structure they have been dependent…
Men will not hear your spite, Samirah. They will be too busy falling in love with the woman who manages to combine a stunning figure, charisma, energy, an appreciation for construction, likability & a warm, southern accent. I’m half in love with her myself.
This accent needs to be illegal and women should be banned from doing manual labour like this.
There is NOTHING feminine about American women.
American women are literally men.
I am better. Finally. It's been a long road. Still advised to avoid stress so won't be here much and I will probably mostly just traumatise you with pictures of mashed food.
This would only be a fuck you if people did not want trans people to play rugby. As they don't want people with the bone & muscle density of male puberty charging into people with the bone & muscle density of female puberty, it is a solution. Thank you.
This is what we call a strawman & a presumptuous one. Wokeness is an identity-based form of progressivism based on standpoint epistemology & beliefs about invisible systems of power & dominant discourses. Marxists have been objecting to it longer than anyone but liberals do too
There is literally nothing more conventionally right than anti-wokeness — i.e. opposition to equality. If you think consciousness of inequality, and an interested in reducing it, is a “mind virus,” you are as conventionally conservative as it comes.
Can we stop using the term “gender-based violence” for sexual violence when it is inflicted upon women by men (which is the dynamic in the vast majority of cases). It completely obscures the nature of violent sexual offences & the motivations of violent sex offenders.
There is a decided upsurge of small-minded, joyless, mean-spirited dickheads informing open-minded, fun-loving, free-spirited, young women that unless they change their ways, they won't end up married to small-minded, joyless, mean-spirited dickheads.
Hey, you why is it so hard to understand that people can support free speech & be outraged at the content of it at the same time & that that’s the underlying principle of free speech: defending people’s right to say things you don’t like. Everybody supports speech they like. 1/2
No. I think that letting Kanye West speak publicly has been the thing that has discredited him & his views most effectively. Even his most dedicated apologists have had to either stop doing that or be seen to openly endorse the most virulent antisemitism. His credibility is zero.
Please don't do this. Critical Social Justice (wokeness) must be able to be critiqued as an approach to addressing injustices/prejudices/imbalances in society in the same way that socialism and liberalism can. This is essential for several reasons. (cont)
FFS, people.
1)Somebody can secretly do a bad thing.
2)The discovery of the bad thing can be motivated by political animus.
The bad thing is no less bad if the motivation for discovering it is hostile.
The motivation is no less hostile if the bad thing is genuinely bad.
I wonder how many people I could piss off if I were to write relationship advice based on psychological differences that exist between men and women on average?
Good example of genuine transphobia. It'd be so nice if we'd stop conflating serious people making arguments about the concept of gender, spaces, sports, services for gender dysphoric youth etc with unserious people having vicious histrionic rants about finding trans people icky

@andrewdoyle_com
's The New Puritans. I remain bewildered by the number of people who attribute bizarre, extreme & reductionist views to him when he sets out arguments so carefully & none of them are radical, even if you disagree. Is it just because he's also a satirist?
We're not doing this anymore. Not for Dave Chappelle. Not for Ricky Gervais. Not for Jonathan Pie. If you don't like a comedian, don't go to see him again. The perpetually offended must learn to manage their own uncomfortable feelings & stop making them everybody else's problem.
You do realise that anybody could take the most violent extremist views from one side abhorred by nearly everybody on both sides & compare them to a thoroughly reasonable view expressed by the other side but shared by nearly everybody & claim 'centrists' to be in the middle?
There's no such thing as an informed centrist. Most ppl who call themselves such are actually conservatives afraid of that label's (deserved) bad reputation.
The rest of them are people who don't know much of anything about politics and so drift between whoever has cooler hair…
I am experiencing a very strange feeling. There’s restedness & energy & a lack of pain or discomfort anywhere combined with a general positivity and enjoyment of life. I remember this feeling. I think it is called….health?
Antisemitism on the left is undergirded by ideas within postcolonial theory & contemporary critical theories of race which I will explain.
However, the acceptance of that paper which included an adapted section of Mein Kampf does not indicate antisemitism as I shall also explain
Remember the brilliant "grievance studies" hoax by

@HPluckrose
?
Back then I thought it was funny, especially the making of an article out of Mein Kampf.
Now I get it. Grievance studies departments support the grievance genocide of Jews.

Kindly shut up. Antisemitic crimes are up 1,350% this month IN LONDON. If you do not know why we should never ignore data like this, I refer you to the last 1000 years or so.
@HPluckrose
Antisemitism on the left is exaggerated by opponents of the left including the Israel lobby which does not want the Palestinians to be defended from their occupation and war crimes. This book is worth your time:
Please stop doing this.
Gaslighting means using psychological manipulation to get people to doubt their own perception of reality, not genuinely having a different view & stating it clearly,
Disingenuous means giving a false impression of simple frankness. It's not false.
1/
@HPluckrose
No Helen, you are gaslighting and being disingenuous. The issue is a self described AGP practicing his fetish in public. You've lost any credibility you might have once had.
I do not live in this world where men associate being men with dominance, violence & power, only get to operate within narrow, destructive boxes & never feel things. Am I in some bubble where men are also whole human beings with ethics & emotions fulfilling a variety of roles?
My final word:
Authoritarian trans activists need to accept that no-one is denying their right to exist if they don’t believe in gender identity.
Authoritarian gender criticals need to accept that nobody has been sexually violated if a man wears a dress & feels sexy in it.
OK, I am ready to face the world. There will be no mockery of the hat. (The husband is mocking the hat but he is a philistine) It is an excellent hat. Daunting day today. Am public eventing for first time in 18 months. Send positive thoughts while drinking tea.
This was one of the most dishonest & disgusting pile-ons I have ever seen. There was absolutely no possibility of a genuine misunderstanding.Those of us who think

@Miss_Snuffy
People are usually not chill about using certain language when, in doing so, they implicitly affirm the truth of something they do not believe to be true & which they may well believe to be an untruth that is harmful. (cont)
I guess I’m against “ostracizing” people as part of a general ethic of that says we should encourage everyone to be more chill, but by the same token why not just be chill about how people want to be addressed?
The Baphomet statue appears to be doing its job of revealing authoritarianism & denials of freedoms of belief & speech & the right to offend quite well, doesn’t it?
A satanic altar has no right to exist. Certainly not inside a government building. We are not bound by our principles to sit by impotently while our statehouses are turned into platforms for literal devil worship. Quite the opposite in fact.
Is is a presumptuous ideology that maps everybody onto its framework of intersecting oppressive power dynamics that all work the same way making things simple enough to eliminate the need for thinking but also so complex as to be incoherent & useless for getting anything done?
1/
Set aside the content of this tweet for a moment & look at the claim, "The law determines what is true."
This is a claim that knowledge is a construct of power.
This claim can be made by people who think this is how we should determine what is true & people who think it is not.
If you paid attention, you would know by now that the law is what determines a person’s sex (not you)
The midwife makes a guess - and is right 99% of the time.
The other 1% she is wrong
Since reading The Coddling of the American Mind which argues that many of the safety & harm concepts in certain segments of the left are in opposition to CBT techniques for healthy thinking I've been noticing how many other things do that. This is one of them. 1/
This meme is sometimes used to mock the idea of wanting to reduce toxic us-vs-them polarization in America.
We'll write some thoughts on this tomorrow but first we wanted to ask: What do you think about this meme? Love to hear your thoughts.
You must know that absolutely nobody in the habit of attacking young trans people will see this post & think "Oh! Attacking children & young adults is bad? Thank goodness you told me. I had no idea. I'll put my cudgel/megaphone away & go home." 1/?
I watched “Barbie” on the plane. The flavour of its activism is, I’m afraid, liberal feminism. Also called “pop feminism” disparagingly and “white feminism” even more disparagingly. We can’t really blame the radicals or the woke for this one.
(Cont)
I'm not a feminist if your definition of feminism includes beliefs like this. This is not a representation of reality. This is a profoundly distorted schema caused by either trauma or ideological extremism. It must be terrifying to live like this.
I am genuinely confused how you can be a feminist yet think the assertion that male and female socialization drastically differs, is a "conspiracy theory?" What?
Generally, they do. Particularly young, beautiful & fun-loving women like this. You appear to be an oddity who will sexually deselect yourself. I encourage you to keep doing so. It is to the benefit of womankind.
Hello! 'Tis me. Back for just a couple of hours. Have been focusing on health, work, clearing mother's house and being generally productive and feeling much better for being off Twitter.
Goodnight, Your Majesty.
You were more than a figurehead. You served the people of Britain with unsurpassable grace, intellect, integrity and fortitude. Your crown did not make you a queen. Your character did.
Thank you, Ma'am.
The Queen died peacefully at Balmoral this afternoon.
The King and The Queen Consort will remain at Balmoral this evening and will return to London tomorrow.
"Riley, we love that you stood up for young girls who don't want men ogling them in the locker room while they get undressed. Now please get undressed so Conservative Dads can ogle you"
This literally happened
My husband is a wonderful man. Came downstairs eventually to find everything deep cleaned and decorated and shopped for. He’s also cleaned and secured my mum’s house and just let me sleep. Get a man like this. Your own. You can’t have mine.
Some of you appear to want to know how I came to have an unofficially adopted Indian daughter with an American accent. I can tell you some of the story without breaching her confidence,
This state of confusion about what free speech is and is not is both profound & widespread. I can sometimes get through to the terminally confused by equating it to freedom of religion which is more widely recognised to include freedom from religion.
In a rather confusing turn of events, a GB News presenter has been caught blocking people who have criticsed him — and some who haven't interacted with him at all
Andrew Doyle is a defender of free speech, and hosts a weekly show: 'Free Speech Nation'
It looks as though I am going to talk to a gender critical feminist who disagrees with me very strongly indeed but is also showing evidence of being committed to addressing what I actually believe in an intellectually honest way. This is the perfect combination for me.
Disgustingness aside, it is indeed quite typical for somebody trying to move on from trauma to make substantial differences to their appearance. I only had a nervous breakdown due to online abuse, burnout & some cyberstalking, & did this. Psychologist said it was very common.
Are you ok Hadi? I can’t imagine being so soulless that you’re criticizing someone who was held hostage for 100 days by known terrorists—for living her life. Have you ever been held hostage? Are you an expert on the aftermath of what it’s like to live? I can’t believe I have to…
I don't think the evidence shows that a hatred of women by men is the driving force behind authoritarian trans activism. I think it is clear that an adherence to a certain 'queer' gender ideology held by members of both sexes, but more women, is driving it.
Men defining what a woman is, what women should and shouldn’t fear, what women should and shouldn’t say, what rights women should be fine with giving up and, of course, what constitutes ‘real’ misogyny: get a bloody mirror. That’s real misogyny, looking right back at you.
@Lord_grimz
I strongly recommend addressing this in an email beginning with your principled support of anti-bullying policies for gender nonconforming kids before moving into what your daughter said & then asking for specific assurances.
It's like there's no end to it!!!🤣🤣🤣
Don't be prejudice now...
Let the "non-competitive" body builders have their shot too!!
FIJCK ME!! I can't with these people!!😂👇🏼
I am noticing a trend of Americans making fun of the British on here.
Silly colonials.
Nobody takes the piss out of the British anywhere near as well as the British.
Absolute novices, the lot of them.
Prof. Peterson, I am not sure it is worthy of a clinical psychologist to diagnose voting differently to himself as an indicator of emotional trauma/attachment issues etc.
I have now finished
@andrewdoyle_com
's, "The New Puritans." It is very, very good. Knowledgeable, charitable, nuanced. Consistently liberal. It has acted as the St Crispin's Day Speech on my culture war fatigue & general sense of hopelessness. Let's see this thing out. (cont)
How do we get past this level of discourse & all its variations?
E.g.,
“We need to protect freedom of speech”
“Just admit you want to say the N-word.”
“I want to compete fairly in sports”
“You misspelled “genocide trans people.””
No. The point of atheism is disbelief in a deity. Atheists can believe in all sorts of other weird shit, be conservative, progressive, liberal or censorious. You can't tell much about a person from what they don't believe in. You need to evaluate them on what they do believe in
I thought the point of Atheism was to escape the alleged intolerant nature of religion.
Yet it seems that Atheists are the most censorious demographic when compared to their religious counterparts.
How did Atheists get to this point?
@elonmusk
@CommunityNotes
Probably good. Should fix a lot of the problems with people posting misinformation on purpose. What about posts where “context” is added, like on memes and such?
If you are colorblind, you don’t see race as something by which to evaluate people's worth. If you don’t see race as something by which to evaluate people's worth, you oppose the evaluation of people's worth by race: AKA, racism. If you oppose racism, you are anti-racist. (1/2)
If you are colorblind, you don’t see race. If you dont see race, you don’t see racism. If you don’t see racism, you are not actively anti-racist. If you are not actively anti-racist, you are racist.
It is not complicated.
Really not liberal.
No-one is harmed by a man wearing a dress. No-one is endangered by a photo of it.
You will not regulate men's clothing choices. You will not decide how masculine or feminine men have to be.
I recommend learning to cope with things that do not hurt you.
The universal principle that we should be defending,
@billybragg
, is that, of all the things we consider reasonable to hold our fellow humans accountable for, it should never include requiring them to hold the same ideological beliefs we do.
#IAmNotAccountableToYou
I may just be too British to understand this but wasn't the joke making fun of the idea that childless women are lazy & narcissistic AND that not having kids somehow gives you magical powers to do everything & save the world? i.e. Telling all the histrionic drama queens to chill
Nothing more pathetic than the coping done by a childless woman pushing 50. She could have had kids and still be doing basically whatever she wants with her life today. Kids aren’t toddlers forever. She could have her “freedom” and a family. Instead she’ll die alone.
1) No political worldview or ethical framework for improving social equality is ever going to get everything right and most of them are going to get very many things wrong. Self-correction is impossible if all dissent is read as hatred of minorities.
I am just going to have to assume that people currently declaring themselves shocked and disappointed that John Cleese has said something that upsets conservatives are either very young or we’re just not paying attention to his entire career
"Being kind to children who are different" is not an accurate description of the book. Whatever your position on which books should be in schools. it is important to be able to distinguish the universalist 'be kind' from ideologically specific beliefs.
1/
This teacher is being fired over a picture book about how it’s OK that some kids like toys & clothes meant for both girls and boys. Her attempt to teach fifth graders to be kind to children who are different was deemed to be an illegally divisive concept.
And stop claiming freedom of speech to be a conservative value. It’s a liberal one. Over here,Illiberal wokeists have been the ones trying to get gender critical feminists arrested/fires & illiberal conservatives the ones trying to get people who insulted the queen arrested/fired
OMG! Now you have shown me I'm a fat, middle-aged woman with sticky-out hair, I realise how wrong I must have been about everything ever. Thank you, kind stranger.
This. Tolerance should not be about compromise but co-existence.
Not: I want to be accepting of people with different ideas so I'll pretend all ideas have some merit.
But: Some ideas are really shit, but people are more than their worst idea & are also allowed to be wrong.
1/2
"I don't really like talking to someone who doesn't seem to respect some of the ideas I believe in."
"I don't give a shit. Those ideas are complete bollocks." [Paraphrasing.]
I feel we should respond like this to people making this argument more of the time.
"[T]here is a universal principle that all should recognise – and that is accountability."
Accountability to what? The Church of England? The monarchy? The Tory Party? The Labour party? Socialism? Traditional gender roles? Critical Social Justice?
1/2
Some thoughts from me on what JK Rowling and John Cleese get wrong about cancel culture: a belief in accountability does not involve condoning threats or violence – and freedom of expression does not mean freedom from consequence.
Marriage is not a formula with boxes that need ticking & I decline your trite audit. This list of trivialities is unworthy of consideration by two people who have meaningfully built & shared their lives & looked after each other & know what marriage really means.
We took an observation that a set of straight men enjoyed being served food by young, attractive, scantily-clad women & gave the cause as “pining for patriarchal domination,” jumping straight over “heterosexuality.”
People have an overinflated reverence for the peer-review process as a mark of research legitimacy. But in the fields related to Social Justice, it is extremely common for strong causal claims to be made based on correlational data. And reviewers rarely notice.
She moved out to New Zealand with her partner four years ago & I am here now because that relationship ended and she is very sad. I arrived in a poor state of mental & physical health & she has dedicated herself to helping me address that. We are family & always will be.
@MattPolProf
I wonder if he is not quite well at the moment. He just does not seem quite himself. I've always disagreed with him about 75% of the time but there's always been an internal consistency of ideas and tone that isn't always present now. Something seems off at the moment.
I am bemused when someone who asserts that society is permeated by invisible systems of power like white supremacy, patriarchy, cis/heteronormativity that influence everything but which most people other than them can't see then classify conspiracy theories as a right-wing thing
I find lefties who argue "they believe crazy things, not like US" a bit bemusing. So far I think the right DOES believe crazier things, but the left is really working hard to keep up. Respect!
It is a sad day in the Pluckrose household. Today, we must say "Goodbye" to our brother, Otto. His tireless dedication to the production of good tea was unsurpassed. His balance was perfect, his aim true, his aspect pleasing, his joy infectious. Thank you for your service, Otto
People, you cannot be liberal & a little bit racist or homophobic at the same time. You need to treat everybody as individuals bonded by our common humanity & support the liberals of every demographic & oppose the illiberals of every demographic. That's how liberalism works.
I think people are mostly concerned about what those standards of conduct are and whether they exceed reasonable expectations of good practice & patient care & stray into requiring clinicians to pretend to have certain political or ideological beliefs or pretend not to have them.
So Jordan Peterson fans are pissing themselves because they’ve just now learned that regulated professions have standards of conduct, and ongoing education requirements, and that if you don’t meet those standards, you can be disciplined? Is that right?
Hello, still not a reactionary right anti-wokeist or a leftist Esoteric cult-religionist, in case you were wondering. Only a few of you were & they're now blocked. I'm still sitting here drinking a lot of tea and suggesting that not being completely batshit insane might be nice.
I don't remember needing your permission to speak about men. Or anything.
Take your tiresome identity politics & rules about who is allowed to speak about what to someone who plays that game.
I decline.
It's a big problem when smart people with the ability to be thoughtful, insightful, intellectually honest & ethically consistent feel confident to be the opposite of the above because they know their followers will support them even though they can clearly see what they're doing.
I just realised it is the day for my customary joke about being thankful for having chased so many of our Puritans out of the UK and into America.
Consider it made. However, you are now getting your revenge by importing so much of your New Puritanism over here.
@andrewdoyle_com
Today, it's been five years since I lost this guy. Always a hard day. I miss our Christmas tradition in which I get growled at for being both a 'bleeding heart liberal' and a 'radical socialist' & he gets a very earnest explanation of left liberalism until he is driven to whisky
