is necessary to prevent further atrocities and loss of more life. Israel must facilitate full, uninterrupted humanitarian access to and throughout Gaza. Hostages and illegally held detainees must be released.
Israel has launched another attack on Gaza, where two million people, half of them children, are still reeling from the devastation of previous assaults and a suffocating 15-year closure. Civilians in Gaza are trapped, exhausted, and afraid. STOP.
"Aid has been used as a weapon of war." Gisha executive director

about how Israel is effectively blocking aid from reaching civilians throughout Gaza and about Gisha's High Court petition on the issue.

Elizabeth Tsurkov worked at Gisha for several years, advocating for the human rights and the well being of Palestinians in Gaza. We're very concerned for her safety and wish for her speedy return home to her loved ones and her important work.
A terrible and horrifying day. The targeting of civilians is forbidden and completely unacceptable. Civilians must be protected, in Israel and in Gaza.
Did you know 70% of Gaza’s population, 1.4 million people, are under 30 y/o? Almost 1 million children live under closure. They need freedom of movement to be able to realize their dreams. Watch a new clip by Gisha to learn more about their lives:

According to a notice sent to residents, Gaza's sole power plant will shut down today (Aug. 6) at 12pm for lack of fuel. Gaza's total power supply will drop to 120 megawatts, while demand is for 500 MW in summer. Electricity supply to homes expected to be 4 hours on/12 hours off.
In what can only be described as a fateful moment in Israeli society, we recall that the anti-democratic overhaul is intended, 1st & foremost, to intensify an apartheid regime that denies freedom & rights to millions of people btw. the Jordan River & the Med. Sea, harming us all.
Through its control over movement of Palestinians, Israel engages in population control by encouraging, coercing and preventing travel in ways that serve its illegitimate demographic goals.

March 30, Land Day, will mark 1 year since the first Great March of Return protests took place along the fence separating Israel & Gaza. In the passing year, Israel has responded to protestors using live ammunition, killing close to 200 Palestinians & injuring thousands. [Thread]
Sudden change of plans? If ever there was proof that the humanitarian catastrophe in Gaza was a policy choice. Israel has been deliberately denying sufficient access to aid and lying about it daily.
"Just as you can’t justify the abhorrent acts committed in southern Israel targeting civilians, you can’t turn around & deliberately target civilians in Gaza by cutting supply of water & electricity & attacking civilian homes + infrastructure."

The High Court will schedule an urgent hearing on the petition of Israeli human rights organizations, lead by
@Gisha_Access
, demanding a massive increase in humanitarian aid to the Gaza Strip & particularly north Gaza.
Israel is legally obligated to allow the continued provision of necessities to residents of Gaza and must do so immediately. The Strip's already insufficient electricity supply depends on access to fuel. Further reductions put more lives at even greater risk.
In the early hours of the morning, Israel began imposing a full maritime closure in Gaza's territorial waters for the third time this year. In fact, in 2019 alone, Israel has implemented no less than 15 changes to the demarcation of the fishing zone it enforces off Gaza's coast.
In 1991, Israel began requiring Palestinians to hold individual permits for travel, a policy that was enforced with greater consistency in the years after. Nowadays, separation between Gaza and the West Bank is the rule, and travel between them a rare exception.
“I know my Israeli employer exploited me. The work day sometimes goes until 7:00 P.M. with no overtime pay. He also used to dock 300 ILS from my pay, promising to make it up the next time he paid, which never happened.”

Ben Gvir's words are not only his own. They are enshrined in decades worth of Israeli policy. The fundamental right to freedom of movement for Palestinians is secondary to Jewish supremacy.
"My right, my wife's right, my kids' right to move around freely on the roads of Judea & Samaria is more important than the right of movement of Arabs. Sorry Muhammad, but this is the reality."

In recent days IL authorities reported an increase in the # of aid trucks entering Gaza. The UN has said this claim is misleading, explaining some trucks enter Gaza half-empty. Even if we accept IL's count, aid entering Gaza is still far from sufficient.

According to the Palestinian Ministry of Agriculture in Gaza, aerial herbicide spraying conducted by Israel in early April near Gaza's perimeter fence damaged 588 dunams (145 acres) of farmland in the Strip, harming the livelihoods of 93 local farmers:
The deliberate targeting of civilians is a war crime. The massacres in the south of Israel and in Gaza are heinous and horrifying. Israel’s indiscriminate bombing and its decision to cut the supply of water, food & electricity to Gaza are cruel, illegal acts of retaliation.

Yesterday Israel's Defense Minister announced a sweeping prohibition on entry of all fuel and cooking gas into Gaza. The shutting down of Gaza's main life-line is an abhorrent act of illegal collective punishment against the 2 million residents of Gaza, most of whom are children.

Israel's proposed rules for travel of Palestinian Americans registered as Gaza residents will essentially stay the same as they are now & reinforce its tiers of discrimination & differentiation of Palestinians from different areas.
This morning Israel’s Supreme Court upheld the government’s decision to deport

Unsurprisingly, Israel willing to invest in getting Palestinians to emigrate while fighting tooth and nail against Gaza residents' access to the WB & blocking structural changes that would ameliorate conditions in the Strip. Human rights cannot be bartered for plane tickets.
Glad to see officials admit the goal is transfer. A deliberate policy to worsen conditions in Gaza has devastated the lives of 2 million people. Israel is not a savior, it's pretending to rescue the inhabitants of a burning building it itself set on fire.
