Got observed today and the students were asked by the observer if I was "good fun" as a teacher ... sorry must've missed the CPD on clown behaviour and top tier jokes.

Decided if I burn out again like I did last term, it's time to seriously consider leaving teaching. I'm too young and life is too short for me to "lose" myself because of a job. Wellbeing first and everything else can wait 🫶🏽
I've made a geography themed Christmas quiz and a 'Christmas around the world' lesson- here is the link for anyone who wants a nice lesson to end the term but not wanting to stick on a film! 🎄🎅🤶

Covid safe speed dating went SO WELL! The students loved it and learnt so much about places they'd never heard of... Even managed to squeeze in some atlas work! 👌🏼✨😍

For those who refuse a quiz or film this week - I've made a little Atlas lesson debunking some of the myths in the well known Christmas song! Here's the link - it's FREE!
FREE RESOURCE! ✌️
Made a general map skills lesson you'll just need this textbook to complete it! I've also included the answers so it's perfect for cover work!
3 weeks into my teaching journey in Bahrain and I've decided to come home. It wasn't the right school for me and my mental health is more important than anything, especially as a teacher! Onto the next adventure! 🌃
During my 15 min obs, my mentor scrutinises books, makes my students feel uncomfortable and then nit picks at my every move. He's making me feel so unmotivated every week and I don't know how to communicate this with him. Any advice?

me and the dog have been demoted to a single bed with a shite mattress and my dog doesn't understand the size of herself nor the bed
@brassoteach
5 weeks total holiday in the darkest wettest months of the year... no, thank you! I love a long summer, time to really shut off completely!
This week I used my geography tickets with my years 10s 🌎 they were so honest and mature so I've written a personalised note back to them

Today I had my last lesson with my Yr 8s after being on supply for 4 weeks and a student handed me this letter when she left. When I say I blubbed ... 🥲

I do not have the patience to deal with the:
- can we do a quiz?
- are we watching a film?
- can we play kahoot?
- did you bring chocolate?
- can we do something fun
Feel like I've lost my mojo a bit on my PGCE, hoping it kicks back in tomorrow! Is this normal? Is this something that will happen every year till retirement? 😂
@MrTs_NQTs
Is this time of year always so stressful? Planning out how many year 11 lessons you've got left and realising you're going to need twice as many to get through all the content let alone any exam skills 🙃🙃
I was kicked out of art in year 8, but over lockdown I've been teaching myself to paint. Seeing as lockdown is over for me now I've started my PGCE I thought I'd share some of my faves... 🎨🖌️
Today two girls who I taught for the first time today went and found my mentor at lunch and thanked her for letting me teach the lesson ☺️ feel so unbelievably happy and positive ☀️☺️🌎

Currently on sick leave and my mentor has just rang me to tell me there's not a position for me in September (I'm a fixed contract) bit rubbish to hear whilst off and not able to talk to anyone about it
#ECThelp
Could give year 11 the mark scheme and they'd still ask what to revise 😂 for clarity they have a booklet with a breakdown of EVERYTHING. Would be more mad if this wasn't such a polite email 🥹
After LOTS of trial and error and failed plans I've decided to relocate to Leeds! 🌏 If anyone knows of any positions around please let me know!

Since finishing my PGCE I've started making resin coasters, I've found I'm really enjoying it, please go give my instagram page a little follow ... teachers get 10% off! They're all made with real Harrogate/Yorkshire wildflowers 🌸🌼🌱
HELP! My year 8 form is having so many bitchy arguments all over really petty stuff (but to them it's the end of the world) has anyone got any advice on how to support them?
@MrTs_NQTs
thankyou!!
First half term as a trainee complete ☑️ proper thrown myself into placement and loving it🤓🌍 Be nice to wake up after the sun has risen for a bit though... ☀️
I feel so broken and done in. I don't know how long I can stay in teaching for. But I do know I'm glad to be leaving my current school and hope my next is adventure is brighter
@ErChilvers
Fellow ECT feel the same, my school also adds a lot of unnecessary tasks and sucks the joy out of teaching. Can't see myself getting past my ECT years at this rate..
Sooooo happy to say I've been offered a job for September!! I get such good vibes from this school can't wait to start teaching all the way through to A Level! 🌏❤️
Over the moon with all my winners 😍🌏 students are receiving them during their end of term rewards morning's this week! Thank you so much
@MiniMapMakers
!!
My ECT bestie from my school is now officially on Twitter, she's looking for inspirational English teachers... who are the best people to follow?? 📚💚

100 Days of Geography revision, each day is under 10 minutes, so perfect for middle level students ! It's up for a £1 and you also get the original so you can edit!
I know it's shameful but I'm selling some of my resources (FULL units of work) for only £1-3... GCSE and A LEVEL ... I've also got some free stuff on there.. please check it out!🙂
And just like that I've finished my PGCE! My final week has been amazing and I feel so loved by my students and colleagues... can't wait to see what happens next! 🥂
I've been struggling with my year 10 class the past few weeks, today I switched up the seating plan and my teaching style/activities and BAM🧨 high productivity, great engagement and minimal behaviour problems

After half term I'm going to try a global effects of climate change lesson but in an hour long speed dating activity ... Fingers crossed it goes to plan 🤞🏼 (y10 class)
Do I "cold call" anxious students or those that I know it would distress? .... no course not.
Do I do it for students who are apathetic or day dreaming? ... yes.
Does it cause them trauma? ... no.
Getting my offer letter makes it so definite! Happy to say I GOT A JOB at the school I did my placement at!! Can't wait to be at such a fab school working with the insane and incredible
@geoggers
🥳🎉
If there's one thing I've learnt from recording lessons is that I hate the sound of my own voice and now feel the need to apologise to anyone I talk to 🙃🤦🏻♀️
Staggered home after a few too many last night and saw natural sea walls being built on the beach for the incoming storm today .... safe to say my friend got a full tipsy geography lesson...
I know SO many trainees in these subjects who train, take the high tax free bursary and then never teach. Someone who trained in my year took the 28k and has been on a 3 year jaunt round the world.
NEWS: If you want to teach any of these subjects in schools or FE, we're offering you up to an extra £6,000 per year after tax in your first five years of teaching.

Can you blame them? When I worked abroad I didn't do much (if any) unpaid overtime. I wasn't sworn at, let alone stuff thrown at me. Parents couldn't contact me directly and there's an abundance of support staff and children genuine love to learn because education is respected.
First day at my new job tomorrow! Working week is Sun-Thurs here and the school staff bus is picking me up at 6.30am! So ready to get back in the classroom!
After a rough week I'm using my frees today to write positive postcards to members of my form who are smashing it and sending out positive emails to various other students ☀️☀️
Does anyone know if the NQT year is now 2 years or is it still 1 year (I've heard it's now 2 due to the pandemic reducing in school teaching time)
@MrTs_NQTs
👩🏻🏫
I've realised the pace and behaviour in my lessons are mostly down to the fact whenever a student put their hands up I ALWAYS immediately answer them. Since making them put hands down and checking in on them later I've noticed such a positive difference ... its the little changes
Isn't a weekly mentor meeting as an ECT overkill? That's the same as a PGCE. You work so closely with your mentor they answer questions and support all week and then both have to give up a free... surely every other week is enough?
First day in placement B today! My Tuesdays will be spent supervising students in school and the rest of the week planning and narrating lessons! So grateful that my placement B has been so accomodating😊🙌🏼
Help! I've never taught A Level water and carbon cycles! Has anyone got a lesson breakdown/SoW or any resources to help me get started please?
@MrTs_NQTs
Happy to exchange in return! 🌏🌳
