All episodes of Inside the Crime (Season 3) are now available 🎧
Join us as we take a forensic look at the unsolved murder of Una Lynskey.
It has been over 50 years since Una went missing.
What happened in the years that followed is truly shocking…
Devastated to hear that Lynsey Bennett (34) has passed away. She, like so many other brave women, brought the horror of the CervicalCheck scandal home to us all.
In the end, all she cared about was securing her daughters’ future. She should have been able to watch them grow 💔
A judge has refused to accept character references on behalf of a convicted rapist from Sligo unless those who wrote them are willing to come to court and take the stand. This would also open up the possibility of their testimony being cross-examined.
🎥 Meet Aoife Farrelly…
After watching her older brother Cian being jailed today for abusing her as a child, she bravely waived her anonymity in the hope that other survivors of intra-familial abuse would be inspired to come forward.
She’s only 21. She is a warrior 💪
Jozef Puska (31), with an address in Tullamore, Co Offaly, has left court in Garda custody after being charged with Ashling Murphy's murder.
⚠️The criminal proceedings are now live so please think before you tweet. Let's all let Lady Justice take it from here.
9 years. 9.5 years. 10 years.
Those were the jail terms handed down today to three Dublin men, who took turns raping a girl on Dollymount Strand in 2016.
INCREDIBLY, their supporters roared “miscarriage of justice” afterwards. Thankfully, they were removed from the courtroom.
So sad to hear of the death of Ana Kriégel’s loving Dad, Patrick 💔 He seemed like such a dignified, gentle soul with an enormous heart and he deserved to live forever after what he’s been through. Thoughts with Geraldine and his family. He’s with his angel once more…
Bags packed and I’m homeward bound. Belfast - you have been a great home for the past nine weeks. I’ll be back in better circumstances soon. And to all those who have been so complimentary about our coverage, I have two words: Dead-on ✌️
Ana Kriègel's mother, Geraldine, was in court today. Her father, Patrick, was a notable and poignant absence. He passed away in June 💔 Hopefully he and Ana can now truly rest in peace and I hope today's outcome brings Geraldine some comfort too. No more traumatic days in court🤞
The Ana Kriègel murder trial was the most harrowing and challenging case I've ever covered, so to have my coverage of it recognised by
@LawSocIreland

BREAKING ⚖️ Boy (17) handed a life sentence for the murder of Cork IT student Cameron Blair (20) whom he stabbed to death at a house party in Cork city in January. His sentence will be reviewed in November 2032.
Pure and utter pandemonium in the Court of Appeal. Ten guards called to the courtroom after judges forced to leave again. Ammi Burke removed by four officers. Enoch Burke is refusing to leave. He is actually holding onto a bench with a Garda trying to reason with him.
Ashling Murphy’s killer is still out there.
If you have any info but don’t want to contact Tullamore Garda Station directly, please call the Garda Confidential Line on 1800 666 111.

So sad to hear of the death of Vicky Phelan 💔
After refusing to sign a confidentiality agreement, she was the one who lifted the lid on the CervicalCheck controversy from the steps of the High Court in 2018.
She touched so many lives and her bravery undoubtedly saved many too.
Ammi, Martina and Isaac Burke have now left. They walked out quietly while the judge was addressing Ammi.
After noticing they were heading for the door, the judge stopped mid-sentence and said:
"Ah, there they go. I won't be wasting my sweet words on the desert air."
Mr White SC: Enoch Burke was never required to hold any particular belief (by the school).
Judge: He was just required to refer to the child by a different name and pronoun?
Mr White SC: Precisely.
Judge: And what's so difficult about that?
BREAKING Two 14yo boys have been found GUILTY of murdering Kildare schoolgirl Ana Kriegél (14) at a derelict farmhouse in Lucan, Co. Dublin last year. One of them was also convicted of violently sexually assaulting her.
High Court rules that Enoch Burke’s suspension from Wilson’s Hospital School last August was lawful.
In his judgement, Mr Justice Alex Owens also awarded €15,000 in damages against Enoch for trespass.
He’s also of the view that Enoch should pay the school’s legal bill 👀
Graham Dwyer now having a lengthy consultation with his lawyers. He’ll soon be brought back to prison to resume his life sentence. Elaine O’Hara’s family were in court for todays ruling. A lot of relieved faces in the public gallery.
Enoch: That is a lie. It's a lie. A lie.
Isaac (Enoch's brother): A lie. A lie. A lie.
Enoch: He's lying to the court. He should be struck off the register.
Enoch roaring now. His mother, Martina, is applauding him.
In 2021, Damien Hetherington (below) waived his right to anonymity after his former teacher John McClean (78) was jailed for abusing him at Terenure College. Damien urged others to come forward. Many heeded his call and McClean will be sentenced tomorrow for abusing 22 others.
All quiet in the court now.
The loud crunch of an apple in the public gallery is the only thing piercing the hushed whispers from the Burke camp.
Does anyone know if you can still get takeaway pints or was that just a lockdown thing?
Asking for a friend (the stenographer).
And that’s a wrap. It feels like that was the busiest court term of all time but I say that after every court term comes to an end so 🤷♂️😂 Thanks to everyone for following our coverage! Now, if you’ll excuse me… 🍺🍺🍺
Court breaks early for lunch.
Mr Justice Owens is happy with that because he has a touch of indigestion.
He clarifies that it wasn’t brought on by the evidence. He suspects it might have been the porridge he had for breakfast.
More when we have it.
Enoch Burke’s mother, Martina Burke, has just been removed from the Court of Appeal. After the judge told her son he couldn’t grant him a hearing sooner than Feb 16, Ms Burke accused the court of being “corrupt”. The judge rose to allow for her removal from the courtroom.
Enoch's parents and his sister, Ammi, have started roaring about unjust laws from the back of the courtroom.
The judge has called for the guards to remove them.
Martina: "Can our son Enoch leave with us?"
Eh, no.
Garda who coercively controlled his former partner for over three years of their relationship has been jailed for three years and three months.
We can now reveal his name is Paul Moody (42) and he was based in Irishtown Garda Station at the time.
He plans to resign.
Enoch Burke has now been removed by four officers. His brother, Isaac, is the last out - dragged along the floor of the courtroom by two guards. All of the Burkes had to be forcibly removed.
BREAKING ⚖️ Aaron Brady has been found guilty of the capital murder of Detective Garda Adrian Donohoe. Eleven of the twelve jurors believed he was the one who shot Detective Donohoe from close range during an armed robbery outside Lordship Credit Union, Co. Louth in Jan 2013.
In her victim impact statement, the woman said:
“I fought hard for justice… I didn’t give up… I fought back to get justice for me and the safety of other women.”
Enoch's mother, Martina Burke, also took to her feet waving the Irish Constitution around like a red card at the All-Ireland Junior Football Final. She kept accusing the judges of "bowing before the altar of transgenderism."
Judge tells Enoch sister’s, Amii Burke, to be quiet. She interrupted proceedings by declaring “it’s a disgrace”. She’s a solicitor but when asked, she confirmed she’s not on record. Judge tells her she has no right of audience and asks, “as an officer of the court, how dare you?”
Simeon’s mother Martina, who was in court with the other members of the Burke family who were in the Court of Appeal earlier, just kept shouting:
“Where are his shoes?”
Gemma O’Doherty and John Waters will have to pick up the considerable bill for their two-day High Court hearing last month. The pair failed to convince the court to allow them to take a judicial review over the lockdown laws, and have now been ordered to pay all the legal costs.
Man jailed for 12.5 years for raping his wife and sexually assaulting his daughter. Judge described the survivors as "incredibly strong" and "magnificent" women. She said Irish society owes them a huge debt of gratitude for coming forward. Hear, hear 👏
It has just been brought to the judge's attention that Enoch has sent the court a "big, long email."
Mr Justice Owens says he could ignore it, but he decides not to.
The printer isn't working so the court has risen for ten minutes to sort it out.
Dr Niamh Collins, Emergency Medicine consultant at Connolly Hospital, deserves huge credit for raising the alarm in relation to the woman who was in a violent and controlling relationship with Daniel Kane. The woman described it as "taking patient care to a whole new level"
Wow. Truly stunned! Thank you so much. I’m speechless - which isn’t a good condition for a news reporter! 😶😂 Delighted. Especially considering how many amazing reporters were in this category 👏👏👏
Mark Connaughton SC sums up case by saying:
“Enoch has a misconceived notion that it’s about religious beliefs. It has nothing to do with that. It’s all about the way he conducted himself with the principal and Board of Management. He always had option of engaging with them.”
“I feel very humbled”
Damien Hetherington deserves the keys to the city for giving other survivors of John McClean’s abuse the strength to come forward.
McClean got 4 more years in jail for abusing boys at Terenure College and Damien was there to support his fellow survivors.
Judge: You don't tell me what to do. I hold all the cards in relation this. You hold none of them.
Enoch: You're not a law unto yourself.
Judge invites the other side to open its case but Enoch won't stop talking. A couple of guards have entered the courtroom...
Here are the names of the three convicted rapists jailed today:
Dion Genockey (24) of Clarion Quays Apartments, Dublin 1 (9yrs)
Troy Ryan (24) of Lower Gardiner Street, Dublin 1 (9.5yrs)
Daryl Rooney (25) of Railway Street, Dublin 1 (10yrs)
In other news, Enoch Burke's younger brother, Simeon, has been found guilty of a breach of the peace arising from his ejection from the Court of Appeal last month.
He was fined €300. He says he won't pay it.
Overnight, lawyers for the school looked into Enoch's allegations of "deliberate tampering" with material. They found "nothing sinister" about the disclosure.
Judge accepts explanations saying these exercises, "usually don't lead to the discovery of the third secret of Fatima."
Enoch Burke refuses to accept court orders refraining him from attending Wilson's Hospital School so his application for injunction to stop a disciplinary meeting tomorrow has been rejected. Burke claims he's being denied justice. Judge refuses to engage with his commentary.
Stephen Silver handed life sentence for the murder of Detective Garda Colm Horkan.
He shot him eleven times as he tried to arrest him in Castlerea, Co Roscommon in June 2020.
Because he killed a garda in the course of his duties, Silver will spend at least 40 years in prison.
The judge has accepted Enoch's silence as a refusal to purge his contempt so he's back in handcuffs and is being taken back to Mountjoy Prison as we speak.
The case will be reviewed again in December and Enoch was told he can purge his contempt anytime before then.
Before moving on from the "big, long email," Mr Justice Owens says:
"You can't win a game of soccer by running away with the ball. The game continues."
Judge: "This is appalling and extraordinary. The court is horrified that a *qualified solicitor would conduct herself in such a manner in this court."
+++
*Ammi is a qualified solicitor.
All rise.
The judge has left. She will provide a written statement of her decision to dismiss the case on a later date. The issue of costs will also be decided on a later date.
As the judge was leaving, Ammi's mother, Martina, shouted: "God will judge you!"
VIDEO 🎥 “...and remember, Mammy loves you”
Heartbreaking words from Lynsey Bennett to her two young daughters.
Today, she secured their financial future after settling a case against the HSE and two US labs over an alleged misinterpretation of her smear samples....
Today is a special day. My first book ‘Crowded House’ is out. It’s the story of Patricia O’Connor’s murder. But it’s not just about how she died. It’s about how she lived. Wicked lies were told about her so I wanted to give her a voice. I hope it comes through loud and clear ❤️
Five young men have been jailed for a combined total of 66 years for a barbaric sexual attack on a 17-year-old girl.
It happened after she got into their car in Tullamore after a night out over Christmas 2016, thinking it was her friends.
Judge said they “acted like animals”
“He was a wonderful, wonderful son”
Detective Colm Horkan’s father, Marty, was retraumatised by Stephen Silver’s two murder trials.
Listening to the harrowing details of how his son died in the line of duty was heartbreaking but he’s relieved his killer was brought to justice.
Sin é.
The hearing is over. Judgement will be delivered at a later date.
In the meantime, the orders refraining Enoch from attending at the school shall remain in place.
“He was the best of us”
Det Garda Colm Horkan’s brother, Brendan, makes an emotional statement to the media after Stephen Silver was convicted of capital murder.
So many of Colm’s colleagues filed in behind him to help him along 💙
Enoch hasn't replied to school's emails.
It's not clear whether he's tuning in remotely but just in case, Mr Justice Alex Owens turns to his computer screen and says:
"Mr Burke, if you're listening, you're more than welcome to join us... 🧵
Mark Connaughton SC, for the school, tells the judge that Enoch just wants to "bombastically" declare his position and "force the court into submission."
Enoch asks judge to tell Mr Connaughton to stop talking over him. That request is met with laughter.
After they raped her, she was told to get into a second car where two others then raped her before leaving her on the beach.
They’re not before the court.
Ms Justice Bolger reminds Ammi that if she had/has an issue with her rulings, she could bring an appeal.
Ammi: "You do not have a right to be wrong."
Ms Justice Bolger is now explaining to her what a judge does.
Anthony Keogh (64), a former director of Keogh’s crisps company, given chance to avoid criminal record for growing cannabis plants in a greenhouse at his home in Dublin.
Judge accepted it was a “gardening experiment” arising from a curiosity about the plant’s medicinal benefits
Judge has decided to allow the school to open its case after lunch WITHOUT Enoch Burke. He'll be removed from the courtroom but will be facilitated through a live video link. No evidence will be heard this afternoon.
Enoch: That's a horrific suggestion.
The morning after the night before… 🎙️🏆 I honestly thought I dreamt this up. So many lovely messages last night. Thank you all. I’m gobsmacked. Still can’t believe it. So many incredible nominees. I’ll treasure this. Thank you

Hazel Chu, former Lord Mayor of Dublin, addresses media on behalf of Uransetseg Tserendorj’s family after her killer was sentenced to life for her murder with a review in 2034. Next to Ms Chu is Uransetseg’s heartbroken husband, Ulambayar Surenkhor 💔
After noting that he has more years on the clock than Enoch, the judge gives him a valuable life lesson by telling him he shouldn't assume that everybody acts with dishonesty and a lack of integrity. He pleads with him to stop accusing people of lying.
Ammi: "One doesn't pick mediators out of a hat. You choose the ones you like and someone you think will get the job done for you."
Judge: "If you're suggesting I had talks with Arthur Cox before being proposed, you better have evidence."
No evidence opened.
Ms McShane says the Chairperson of the Board of Management, John Rogers, wasn't able to attend the disciplinary hearing because he was unwell.
She claims the Burkes objected to it going ahead without him and just kept repeatedly shouting:
"Where is John Rogers!?"
Man jailed for 4.5 years for his role in an attack that left Alanna Quinn Idris (18) blind in one eye.
Darragh Lyons (19) wasn’t the one who struck her in the face with the saddle of an E-scooter but he was part of the gang that attacked her. He punched her and beat her friend.
Enoch Burke now back in courtroom. He doesn’t accept that judge can’t arrange for a special hearing of his appeal. He tells judge, “you shouldn’t be in that chair”.
Graham Dwyer appears restless. He can’t sit still as judgement is being delivered. His hair is much shorter and greyer than it was in 2015 and his tailored suit has been replaced in favour of a Canterbury 1/4 zip top. He hasn’t won any grounds of appeal yet.
Dion Genockey told the jury he has never disrespected a woman. He claimed she initiated sex. The truth is he got into the car, tried to “sweet talk” her, told her he wasn’t going to hurt her, then raped her before handing a condom to his friend, who also raped her.
Enoch Burke looks set to spend Christmas behind bars after refusing to give a commitment to the High Court to stay away from Wilson’s Hospital School.
He has been in Mountjoy Prison since September for failing to obey a court order refraining him from trespassing at the school.
The judge is back.
Mr Ward SC is on his feet making, or at least trying to make, an application to dismiss Ammi's case.
Ammi: "She is litigating the case for the WRC and Arthur Cox" (on repeat)
The stenographer's digits are riverdancing across the keyboard.
Mr. Hedworth begins by telling Mr. Jackson being a "gifted sportsman" is not a defence to the charges he's facing, nor is his charity work or being drunk.
Before going back to Paddy Jackson's house for an afters party, Stuart Olding tells police he drank:
8 tins of Carlsberg
4 pints of Guinness
2 Gin & Tonics
5 vodka lemonades
3 shots of Tequila and Sambuca
BIG SHOUTOUT to the cleaning team at the Criminal Courts of Justice. There’s an unsung hero who cleans the public toilets every day. I think he deserves a medal at the best of times, but he’s the most important person in the building right now, and he’s killing it (literally)🦠🥊
