Incredible video showing near 50-foot waves churned up by CAT 4 Hurricane Fiona a few hundred miles SW of Bermuda. The video was captured by a "Saildrone", one of NOAA's new robotic surfboards, that can gather weather data and measure sea heights inside hurricanes.

8 years after a devastating EF-5 tornado hit Joplin, Missouri, Joplin residents got another scare from this beast. Fortunately, the storm and its tornado moved north of Joplin but it did do heavy damage in Golden City, Mo.

Light pillars seen last night in Amarillo! On a very cold, calm night, with snow cover, ice crystals can refract light from street lights and other sources to produce these pillars of light. Denser, larger ice crystals produce the more pronounced beams.

A group of ladies who gather to play bunco were in this home when it was hit by a tornado. They all hid in the interior hallway. All twelve survived and were able to walk away. Most tornadoes are survivable if you take prompt action and take shelter in the right place!

A massive fire East of Amarillo created such intense heating that it spawned a big thunderstorm. The storm North of McLean was produced when rising thermals from the fire lifted the humid air. The moisture condensed on ash forming cloud drops. .

A swarm of 22 tornadoes hit North Texas back on April 3, 2012. While most were EF-0, a pair of EF-2 tornadoes hit Lancaster and the Arlington/Kennedale areas, and an EF-3 with winds up to 150mph hit Forney.
