The person I interviewed here is The real voice of Minneapolis. Really belies the whole “foreign influence” bs floating around. Before anyone says anything my mask is down because we had just been gassed and I was catching my breath.
Bolivians marched today against the US-backed regime, past the Huayllani bridge, Sacaba, where the regime massacred anti-coup protesters on November 15th 2019.
I asked Secretary Blinken to justify the inclusion of Haiti’s so-called government in the Summit of the America’s while Cuba, Venezuela and Nicaragua were excluded.
Democracy or hypocrisy?
Governments that disagree with the US like Cuba, Venezuela & Nicaragua are excluded from the Summit — while Haiti’s unelected “leader,” who may have murdered his predecessor, gets the red carpet.

Huge protests in Mali today (1/14/22) opposing ECOWAS sanctions on the country. Linking them to French attempts to maintain their neo-colonial control of the nation.
In 7 months of brutal civil war in Sudan, over 9,000 people have been killed and 5.6 million people have been displaced.

Bill Clinton isn’t dissing Kwame randomly. He’s doing it because, as the polls, voting booths, street protests and mutual aid projects show us, Kwame Ture’s spirit (Ready for Revolution!) lives in the rising generations of Black America. Bill is defending his ruling class project

BREAKING: The United Nations reports that this morning a World Food Programme warehouse in Mekelle (capital of Tigray region) Ethiopia was “forcibly entered by Tigrayan forces who took 12 fuel tankers with 570,000 liters of fuel.”
Despite a brutal US blockade Cuba remains an inspiration to millions. Providing healthcare, education, & sustainable development to its people and the world. Sustaining socialist values against all odds. Check out this 🧵 of recent

Literally just a few weeks ago center-left types were ripping Trump for running “the most racist ad since Willie Horton.” Now they are praising the person who ran the Willie Horton ad. Go figure.
There are a variety of accusations of the TPLF looting humanitarian aid for military purposes. While visiting trenches we were told were used by TPLF I saw these repurposed bags. Just conjecture, but, it does appear to lend credence to those accusations. Note the US flag on one.
The Mayor Of Kenosha is a Democrat. Y’all gonna hold yourselves accountable? You had literal defenders of killer cops (Bowser, Bloomberg, Lightfoot) in prominent roles at your convention, LAST WEEK.
Jacob Blake was shot in the back 7 times by law enforcement. As we wish for his speedy recovery, Democrats stand with all those calling for justice and accountability in policing. We will continue fighting to end police violence.
I once participated in a sit-in at a Senators office demanding he speak out against the destruction of public housing in his home state. A Capitol Police officer threatened to mace me in the face at point blank range for “talking too loud.”
Large crowds gathered across Ethiopia to protest Western powers multi-year efforts to assist the ongoing regime change war waged by the TPLF, a former ruling party driven from power by mass protests in 2018.

Talk about decontextualized. 🇪🇹 declared a ceasefire, the TPLF then expanded the war, the unequivocal key factor in “worsening the humanitarian disaster.” Just more evidence of the US covering for the TPLF by scapegoating 🇪🇷.
Millions are suffering in northern
#Ethiopia
as violence rages on. The US has been clear: all parties prolonging this conflict must immediately begin ceasefire negotiations. These new sanctions target Eritrean actors who are worsening the humanitarian disaster faced by civilians.
Today, in S. Africa Sec. Blinken said: “The United States will not dictate Africa’s choices.” Yet 4 days ago a US official said: “if a country decides to engage with Russia…We caution countries not to break…sanctions, they stand the chance of having actions taken against them.”
From the early ‘90s on the US has been obstructing a path to peace in Somalia. More imperialist meddling of the sort seen ⬇️ will not help. US hands off Somalia.
The U.S. is prepared to act against those who obstruct Somalia’s path to peace. The attempted suspension of
@MohamedHRoble
is alarming & we support his efforts for rapid & credible elections. All parties must desist from escalatory actions & statements.
Traveling near Gashena, Ethiopia, our

team heard from many people that the TPLF caused damage and casualties with indiscriminate shelling. Local residents took us to a damaged church as an example.
Bernie, may I remind you, it was Golda Meir who said: “There was no such thing as Palestinians…there is no such thing as a distinct Palestinian people."
I have many critiques of AGOA, but, US attempts to “exit” Ethiopia from the trade pact is cruel. Guaranteed to have the biggest (negative) impact on workers doing their best to make a living. Watch
@BTnewsroom
for our forthcoming story on how US policy hurts Ethiopian workers.
At Hawassa Industrial Park, tens of thousands of jobs—mostly held by women—are at risk due to US attacks on Ethiopia’s economy. We spoke to workers about their fears of losing work & educational opportunities due to Washington’s plans to kick Ethiopia out of the AGOA trade pact.
These absurd new sanctions on Eritrea are designed to punish Eritrea as a country and terrify Eritreans in the diaspora for refusing to support the TPLF’s attempted regime change efforts in Ethiopia. Just more evidence that the US wants TPLF to win.
This Sunday (tomorrow) people around the globe will be gathering to oppose intervention, sanctions and war in the Horn of Africa, find an action below and join!

The US is set to remove Ethiopia from the AGOA trade deal. Ultimately this means taking aim at the livelihood of millions of workers. It’s collective punishment. Really a form of sanctions. Check out our
@BTnewsroom
reporting from Ethiopia on this ⬇️
Because Ethiopia has fought off an insurrection, the U.S. govt is unilaterally ejecting it from a trade pact. The move threatens millions of Ethiopian workers. BT went to Hawassa Industrial Park to hear directly from workers and officials about the potential devastation.
As we remember Paul Robeson, born on this day in 1898, do yourself a favor and dig into the archives of Freedom Newspaper, founded by Robeson in 1951, published monthly until 1955. A rich source of information about Black radicalism in the ‘50s

ETHIOPIA EXCLUSIVE: Residents of the recently retaken town of Lalibela showed BT around a health center that they say the TPLF ransacked and rendered non-operational. These same residents told us the damage resulted in multiple preventable maternal deaths.

Eritrean cultural events have been attacked in the UK and Germany this summer. In addition to significant harassment in the Netherlands and Scandinavia. These events coincide with a TPLF-led anti-Eritrea propaganda campaign designed to buttress their war effort.
As I reported yesterday, the UN’s own documents (“as of Sept. 1”) stated they had 50 days worth of fuel for food aid deliveries, but 0 trucks. Ethiopian govt. reporting here they have reduced checkpoints. Mounting evidence something dodgy may be happening with aid trucks.
The
@UN
also said only 38 out of the 466 trucks it sent into the Tigray region have returned and that it needs its trucks to deliver assistance effectively.
#Ethiopia
has decreased checkpoints from 7 to 2 & no backlog of trucks on the Semera corridor for weeks now!
@PowerUSAID
Wars are already being fought, at least partially, over water. Most notably in the Sahel. The US is, appropriately enough, deeply implicated and not in good ways, in said wars.
Today in Port-au-Prince the Haitian people have again taken to the streets—part of roughly a month of non-stop nationwide protests—to oppose the invasion and occupation of Haiti being planned in DC, NYC and Ottawa.
Today [Oct. 17] thousands of Haitians took to the streets on the 216th anniversary of the assassination of Haitian revolutionary Jean-Jacques Dessalines to oppose foreign military intervention and the neo-colonial government of de facto PM Ariel Henry.
In addition to Havana, large mobilizations in defense of Cuba’s socialist project took place across the island Saturday. Here are some images from Bayamo, Pinar del Rio and Santiago.
Notable that the TPLF had time to gloat about their offensive yesterday on every possible form of media but didn’t have time to respond to allegations that they summarily executed 100 young people
Every invasion of Haiti is sold as helping to quell “chaos.” Each time it just strengthens the neocolonial elite & the associated exploitation by Western companies. This one will be no different. Shame on President Ruto for trying to use Pan-Africanism to cover for Imperialism.
In the coming weeks
@btnewsroom
will be releasing content from interviews w/young Eritrean’s who fought in the recent war in N. Ethiopia. You’ll hear about their experiences in & reflections on the conflict, the HOA region & Eritrea’s past, present and future. Stay tuned.
