My new book Whatever Happened to Birdy Troy? is out in the world. It tells the stories of a 1980s all-woman rock band and of the podcaster who wants to find out why they disappeared. Thanks to everyone who helped along the way. (And thanks to my cousin Sinead for the photo!)
The saddest of news. Keelin was a wonderful journalist but she was also a fantastic, generous, funny colleague. She'll be missed so much. Sympathies to her family and friends. May she rest in peace. via

I've realised I'll never be able to reply to everyone who got in touch about yesterday's tribute to
#Marian
. I really appreciate all the kind words. Despite the sadness of the occasion, it was an honour to be part of a tribute to someone who meant so much to so many. Thank you.
It doesn’t exist a word to define this image.
Those military trucks across Bergamo are carrying coffins to other cities of Lombardy region so to proceed with cremation process, as the city and cemetery morgue can’t take the overload.

We don't often have poetry on

, but we did back in April when times were dark. A lot of listeners found solace in Derek Mahon's poetry. May he rest in peace.
The very best of luck to my brilliant friend and colleague Seán O'Rourke. I've been very lucky to spend so much time working with him, especially on all those election count shows where we kept going until 3 or 4 am. Morning radio won't be the same.
First morning presenting

According to tonight's briefing, four food plants are responsible for a significant volume of Covid cases: the dog food factory in Naas, a meat plant in Tullamore and two further meat processing plants - one in Kildare town, the other in Timahoe.

I'm very grateful -- and more than a little surprised -- to learn that The Letter Home is the number one best-selling book in Ireland this week. To everyone who made this possible, especially the readers, thank you, thank you, thank you. 💕
Very sorry to hear about the death of Jim Fahy. Jim was the voice of the west when I was growing up and later a much-admired colleague. No matter the day or the hour, he was always on top of the story. RIP
I haven't done much book tweeting recently because . . . well, other stuff. But
#ThePaperBracelet

My happiest years in RTE were spent working on the News at One with Seán . . . not to mention all those election programmes. A wonderful interviewer. A fantastic colleague. Thank you Seán.
Chief Medical Officer Dr Tony Holohan says he is taking time out from work commitments to be with his family. A plan has been put in place for others to take over responsibility for different aspects of his role. Dr Ronan Glynn will take over as acting Chief Medical Officer
The most stressed out I've ever been about Christmas was when I was 16 and I got my first ever job, working at M&S in Dundrum.
As soon as I started I kept hearing these myths about the Christmas Eve Waste Sale, where all the food that wasn't sold on the 24th was marked down 90%.

Even the word 'uni' makes me feel unwell. I've noticed it slipping in here. Irish people do not go to 'uni'. They go to college. (I'm aware this is a very small issue, but Twitter appears to have turned into the place where people lose their reason over small issues.)
I know the election has everyone frazzled at the moment . . . but next month I'm having a night out for my new book

It is with profound sadness that we announce the death of Marian Finucane. “Ireland has lost a unique voice,” says Director-General Dee Forbes. “A pioneer in broadcasting,” says Moya Doherty.

Another finding from the Mother and Baby Homes report: 'Between 1922 and 1998, 552 "illegitimate" children died in Cork County Home/St Finbarr's Hospital. So far no burial records have been found for these children.'

How well should you have known someone to attend their funeral?
What's the day after Christmas Day called - and how many 's's does it contain?

The most successful people wake up at 4am. Go for a piss, secretly eat some chocolate in the kitchen then go back to bed, because getting up at 4am is something only serial killers would think is a good idea.

Yes! I've found myself thinking 'I grew up in Ireland in the 1980s. There was nowhere to go. I spent my time walking circuits around the town. Everything was a bit grim. I should be well prepared for this.'
Today saw the retirement of John Eagleton, one of Met Éireann's most recognisable operational meteorologists.
John was a welcome sight on RTÉ for many years, and he will be missed by both us and the public. All in Met Éireann would like to wish him the best in his retirement.
