Voting in the 2023 Port Waikato by-election has officially closed. Votes are currently being counted, and we’ll be releasing preliminary results progressively throughout the evening at Official results will be released on 6 December.

The writ has been returned today, which signals that the successful candidates of the 2023 general election have the right to be members of Parliament. Following the return of the writ, the Governor-General issues a proclamation summoning Parliament to meet within six weeks.
