@meaimanlee The core theory (mises/rothbard) works on unrealistic premises. Namely that people think logicaly and have perfect information. From this and only this then follows that free market is optimal. Introduce uncertainty and it does not hold anymore. I am still ancap but I see issues.

Say’s Law has often been formulated as “supply creates its own demand.” The statement is clearly not an economic law—but it’s also not what Say said. Say’s actual argument was that consumers need to create some sort of supply in order to have the ability to demand.

🧵 How Keynes debunked Austrian Growth Theory 🧵 The Austrian school argues that savings is key for economic growth. Nothing could be further from the truth. Keynes (General Theory, Chapter 7 §5) debunks this idea, and shows that it is consumption spending that promotes growth.

Economics is descriptive. Far too many misconceptions stem from people (usually politically-minded people) boiling the entire field down to “what policies should you support”—a question economics informs but will not answer.

In 1914 J.M. Keynes wrote a review of L.v. Mises's 1912 book The Theory of Money and Credit. He wrote that the book was "critical rather than constructive, dialectical and not original." Anyone reader of this book should be quite surprised by this statement. It gets stranger.

I appreciate Mises's clarity when dealing with concepts that are often confused. In 4 pages, Human Action Ch. 15 §2 clearly lays out capital goods, capital, income, and savings; relates the terms to how they are used in business; and disabuses faulty notions like "real capital."

Savings is a drain to the economy's circular flow. How can businesses produce anything without consumers spending money to fund it? As Keynes writes: "Every ... attempt to save money by reducing consumption will so affect incomes that the attempt necessarily defeats itself."
