If you want your voice heard, wait for a foreign researcher to interview you, so you become Interviewee 19, footnote 78. But if we write auto-ethnographically, drawing on context and relationships we formed all our life - this is an essay or a memoir, not βobjective research.β
I couldnβt resist π:
Experts on Central Asia, after conducting 50 interviews with locals with translators, discussing co-production of knowledge, why Central Asia doesnβt need decolonisation, and why positionality is not for those who want to do objective and βrealβ research
@DurdiyevaSelbi
Is this before or after they claim that local scholars canβt possibly be objective because of their ties to the region π€¦π»ββοΈ

Oh Selbi you nail it so hard itβs both tragic and cathartic at the same time π₯ foreign researchers are here to give you a voice! (and make just a tiny little career out of it, so be gratefulβ¦?? Smile!)

Thank you! Yes, and grateful that we are employed as translators and data suppliers. We have thoughts and ideas of our own and we are well capable of theorising. And now itβs all disguised with fancy participatory action research and etc but the essence is the same.
