BREAKING: If you were ok with the former President using security assistance to shake down Zelensky, you have to remove the Ukrainian flag from your Facebook profile picture.
Herschel is right. In Iraq and Afghanistan, engineers frequently cleared the pronouns from routes we patrolled. That being said, I’ll never forget the day my vehicle was hit by a deep-buried past participle.
This is a strange way to say “troops that disobeyed a lawful order.” As the dude who formerly presided over the Army’s conscientious objector board I find it odd that the institution had ~ 1 application every 6 weeks and then suddenly everyone found God during COVID.
The number of my fellow American veterans who I've seen say that either they don't like this or it's unprofessional led to an epiphany—and I'm just spitballin' here—maybe we just really suck at information operations?
Visited Mike T yesterday in Section 60 — sent pics to his wife and sister. 19 years sometimes feels like yesterday and a lifetime ago. You’re always with me. Love you, brother!

Anecdote. Brother commanded a battery in 1 MARDIV during the fight to Baghdad in 2003. Said his proudest moment was when one of his platoon commanders made a decision to not engage a group of armed Iraqi army troops despite ROE allowing it. 1/7
omfg. Was just exchanging messages with my Ukrainian

classmate -- he sent me this video. My reply, "That guy has balls of steel." Him: "That's me." I'll be damned if it isn't too. This dude was previously a Regimental Commander.

1 of my brothers retires from the Army today. I'm the youngest of 4 (3 boys). All 3 of us swore in HS that we would never join. Next summer the oldest retires. We will have put in 89 combined years -- 122 counting my Dad. It was my father's way out of generational poverty.
If it all ends tonight I want to thank the honeypots in my DMs. Even though I know you work for foreign intelligence services and crypto scammers, part of me knows that you saw something special in me.

My guess is they didn’t spread Russian propaganda. Also, you can hold two opinions at once: that her service after 9/11 is commendable and her recent track record of public statements is not. Stop using service to cover for poor behavior challenge 2022.
Thoughts and prayers, Matt. Drive 20 mins south to the Springfield Home Depot — there are 162 dishwasher options for you to choose from. Whirlpool and LG available for free delivery on May 16th! Again, my best during this difficult time.
Our dishwasher broke yesterday. I was informed that a replacement will take over a year. I barely remember the Carter years. No one will ever forget the Biden years. A year to wait on a common appliance. Socialists have made building things in America a Green Nightmare.
Thread. Was contacted by a friend yesterday who stated that many Americans do not understand the importance of interpreters to vets (to America) and that perhaps the title "interpreter" is a poor way to highlight their service. I don't have a big platform, but here it goes. 1/
I clearly remember the JTAC speaking to a woman piloting a B1 during this engagement. I was not terrified. Imagine the dudes on the receiving end were.
So, miss me with this most moral force BS. It’s disrespectful to those who kept their moral compass during incredibly trying times. Morality is also not measured in relative terms. One final anecdote. 4/7
Finally, mistakes in war are tragic. It’s beyond disingenuous to conflate gross negligence or willful misconduct with a mistake. The former stems from a deep cultural rot and is underwritten by leaders. The latter is typically the product of the nature of warfare. 7/7
I can unequivocally state that my son would be better off today if I had not spent 25% of his 20 years on this earth in combat. Further, many of those I served with missed births — they didn’t come home for 48 hours. Kim doesn’t know what she is talking about.

You don’t know what you’re talking about. I can unequivocally state that my son would be better off today if I had not spent 25% of his 20 years on this earth in combat. Further, those I served with missed births — they didn’t come home for 48 hrs.
It’s been 17 years, Mike. We still say your name, as if in doing so we can speak you into existence.
Visited you with Tricia and Joey on July 4th. He has her height and blonde hair — his face and smile is all you. You’d be proud.
Love you, brother. We will never forget.

Mike was our first casualty in OIF/OND. During our RIP we got busy planning a memorial. I was the BN XO and recall getting called out of a meeting to the TOC by our Ops SGM. RIP, Mike.

“If you do not use the rod on a disobedient child then you do not love the child. That is what the book [Bible] says.” — Rep. Jim Olsen
engaged the group of officers. A platoon commander understood the larger picture and decided against it. Soon the battery was overwhelmed by droves of enemy troops deciding against a certain death. A different decision may have been met by stiffer resistance. 3/7
Just spoke with a U.S. Army officer stationed on the border
- his orders to patrol this month haven’t been renewed due to the SecDef being AWOL and rippling down the command
- Texas military has displayed the pinnacle of professionalism and integrity, impressing US military…
Platoon maintained contact with the group. Soon the Iraqis surrendered. Group comprised of Iraqi officers who wanted to stay armed until surrendering to protect themselves from their own troops — they trusted the USMC. The platoon could have—and some could argue, should’ve— 2/7
I did multiple combat tours in Atropia. They are classified so I can’t discuss them. And I totally have a girlfriend too. She lives in Niagara Falls — you wouldn’t know her.
Heartbroken. My dear friend since second grade is gone. Stephanie lost her battle with COVID today, leaving behind John — her husband of 28 yrs — 3 kids, and her grandkids. Steph, John, and I graduated from HS together. She always was smiling and was a friend to all. 1/
Today I recalled speaking to a British Major when I taught at Fort Leavenworth in 2013. She mentioned that her exchange group was told not to discuss religion or guns with us. I was taken aback. I’ll be damned if that wasn’t sage advice.
Know what was far dumber than dancing in combat? Patrolling uncleared routes in soft-skinned vehicles to show a "presence," raiding objectives where the target hadn't been observed for months prior, and believing that we could CERP (spend) our way to victory. But sure, go off.
Oh great, my FIL who didn’t give a damn when I was in Afghanistan suddenly has strong opinions about the war. Narrator: He does not care about the evacuation of our Afghan partners unless it can be weaponized in the culture war in which he envisions himself a Field Marshal.
No matter my desire to see Putin fail miserably, I’ll never get used to seeing a military abandon their wounded and dead on the battlefield. Just spitballing here, but likely a correlation between this and the images of abandoned equipment we’ve been seeing.
The toughest week of my life was in summer 1990. I was 17 and worked at Opryland, USA. Lee Greenwood performed 2 concerts per day for a week at an outdoor theater next to the game I worked. I quickly learned why Manuel Noriega left the Vatican Embassy.
While receiving effective small arms fire, CPT placed this dude under him to protect him — dude still got shot in his wrist. We were able to later determine the guy was TB and handed him over for questioning. We also dressed his wounds. 6/6
Advised an ANA Kandak in ‘08. During a firefight in which an ANA soldier and a U.S. advisor (and friend) were killed, a CPT and I climbed over a wall into a courtyard. Saw a man in the doorway. Provided overwatch while CPT ordered the dude to his location. 5/6
Remembering SGT Jamal "Doc" Rhett, C/1-21 IN, from Palmyra NJ. He was KIA Aug 15, 2010 in Baqubah, Iraq. Jamal became a medic because he wanted to help others. His mother called him her knight in shining armor. Kobe was his favorite basketball player. 1/2

Doc Carbullido’s loss, like all of them, was crushing. He was brought to my vehicle on a litter as we called in a MEDEVAC. In my last words to him, I lied — I told him he was going to make it. Miss you, Doc.

Remembering HM2 Anthony Carbullido who was KIA in Sagatesh, Badghis Province Afghanistan on Aug 8, 2008. Took this pic of Doc on 06 AUG. It is perhaps the last pic ever taken of him. It shows him in his element, treating a village elder outside of Mangan. 1/2

Just passed a dude angrily saying into his phone, "That is a classic Obama-Romney Neo-Con tactic..." I have a lot of questions but no intention to ask any of them.
Best part of my Christmas is hugging my son and telling him I love him and am proud of him. What is even cooler is I can do this daily. Raising him to be the man I wish I was.
It’s not “whataboutism,” Michael. It’s pure dishonesty. Voted at parole hearings for 3 of the Mahmudiyah murderers, members of Gibbs’ kill squad…colleagues had Lorance, Bales… Do you know why? Because they were all convicted of murder — of war crimes.
School districts across Virginia, including Arlington, Alexandria, Fairfax, are saying they will continue to require masks despite Gov. Glenn Youngkin’s executive order that seeks to end mask mandates in schools.

At the National WWI Museum in Kansas City there is a display that shows that ~ 1 in 3 French men between 18-32 y/o were killed during the Great War. Stay in school, kids.
Gov. Ron DeSantis (R-FL) poses a very helpful hypothetical showing tremendous brainpower:
“Can you imagine if [Putin] went into France? Would they do anything to put up a fight? Probably not.”
Read On Killing and On Combat in the army. I don’t fault Dave for having no personal experience w/killing — it’s a nasty business, it’s unnatural. I fault him for cashing in on a pseudo-science that has harmed the military and LE — harmed our society. Police don’t fight battles.
If you are open to learning why kids kill, how to train LE to be warriors, and the consequences then start your journey here. Preparing police for battle requires work, which is why we are proud to host Lt. Colonel Dave Grossman

Rick Astley and the Foo Fighters performing Never Gonna Give You Up in the style of Smells Like Teen Spirit because Dave Grohl spotted Rick on the side of the stage since they were performing the same event and just pulled him in to do the song.

Today is my 49th B-Day / Leg Day. Dinner tonight with Christine and Gavin followed by cake, which apparently I’m obligated to split 50:50 w/Gavin. Feel like I’m where I need to be, with the people I love.
Uncle brag. My niece came into my life when she was 4. My place in Hawaii was her hangout and Gavin became another brother to her. Today she was accepted to Dental School at UConn, Buffalo, VCU, and Harvard. Absolute 👑 shit.
Anonymous DOD senior leaders opining on the firing of a TV host is poor form and only further politicizes the military. DOD leaders had a chance to address Carlson’s attacks the last couple of years — for whatever reason, they failed to do so. Best to just sit this one out
1: Tanks are not a deathtrap, FFS. A lot wrong w/this thought but for starters: Infantry and Artillery alone did not work out so well during WWI. The tank was designed to break out of the trench warfare characteristic of the era. See the Somme.
Many have immigrated and become US citizens. So if you need a tax professional in Sacramento I know a guy. Likewise, if you need a healthcare professional in Charlottesville, I have a friend there. Once upon a time they were my teammates, now they are just as American as I am. 6/
Never change Twitter. These two paid $8 to police the use of the 🫡 as if emoji use is some sort of stolen valor. Hope no one reports me for using 🚀 without being an actual astrophysicist.

If you think the attacks on public schools are not about Brown, research when a large # of private schools opened in the south. Then research why Fort Campbell and Fort Knox DODEA schools were established in the 60s. Hint: the army refused to send kids to segregated schools.

Incredibly depressing — I read a lot into this image. Source is someone named Levan Grigolia on Facebook — Ukrainian friend of mine shared it from his page.
Q: What do you teach?
A: Driver’s Ed but I’m also the school armorer and manage the ammo account. I work for the PE teacher / football coach / school master gunner.

Serious question: wouldn’t vaccine refusal make a service member non-deployable to countries that require vaccination, and therefore hurt readiness? Commanders are charged w/readiness. If passed, this takes part of it out of their hands.
The COVID shot mandate for our servicemembers is officially removed in this year’s NDAA.
This victory is an important step in stopping the Biden administration’s overreach, and strengthening our military once more.
When teaching doctrine to Majors I make a point of stating that everything the army does is political. The army serves political leaders (civilian control) to achieve political objectives via the employment of force (or the threat of the employment of force). 1/2
Just rcvd a message from a platoon sergeant from my time in 5-4 CAV -- one of my 1SGs took his life last night. Father of 4, including a 2-y/o. Went to Malawi w/him when I took squadron command. We used to run down and back up the Zomba Plateau. Please reach out. People need you.
