My grandfather was an IRA quartermaster and my grandmother was a Cumann na mBan runner during the War of Independence.
I don’t see why the Irish State is commemorating the RIC. It’s the same as the State commemorating the British Army.
We fought a war against them.
My New Year’s Resolution for 2022 is to get as close to fluent as possible in Gaeilge.
Nílim cinnte go mbeidh mé in ann é sin a dhéanamh, ach déanfaidh mé mo dhícheall ar aon nós!
If you’re waiting for the Irish Govt to tell you how to act in order to stop the spread of

Personal responsibility will stop this virus. It’s up to you to do the right thing.
So the Unions have gotten their way.
Midterm should be cancelled, Easter curtailed to bare minimum, no inservice days, cut summer holidays
I’m furious with the teachers’ unions. I graduated as a sec teacher many years ago. It’s this type of union behaviour that sickens me
I was going to come back to Ireland in late July and bring my parents away for a few staycations.
Now, I’ll just fly them out to Europe now and we’ll spend our €€€s there.
1. Hamas is an evil terrorist organisation
2. Israel has a right to exist & defend itself
3. The Palestinians have a right to their own State
4. Netanyahu is a xenophobic, war mongerer
All four of these positions are valid at the exact same time.

Have emailed HQ checking to see if he is a member & requesting that tweet be investigated.
Homophobia has no place in FF. I fought for too long to allow this happen
The upcoming Welsh Language Bill has an aim of all Welsh schools operating through Welsh by 2050.
Why don’t we have the same level of ambition for Gaeilge?
@AngusMacNeilSNP
I accept that some people aspire to keep the UK united. It’s in their interests. I get that.
But the petty, nasty attitude towards democrats who support the right to self determination of historic nations baffles me.
Mary Lou McDonald tells Newstalk’s ‘On The Record’ that €5 billion from the €13 billion Apple tax bill should be used to pay for people’s wages during the coronavirus crisis.
Well done

especially Dep Shortall when it comes to Covid 19.
Running with the hare and hunting with the hound.
Today is

Clearly whichever SF staffer was copying and pasting this stock message across all their platforms wasn’t made aware of Deputy Wynne’s own housing story!
Rank hypocrisy as per usual.
Not sure of exact reason why President Higgins is not attending the
#NI100
event with the British Monarch
However, I really don’t see a valid reason why the Irish Head of State would ever commemorate the partition of the island of Ireland.
None. Whatsoever!
For god’s sake. Stop campaigning. Start putting country before party!
We’re all on this together. Im a proud Fianna Fáiler but I am proud of the Irish government and of our Taoiseach.
With all due respect, that told us absolutely nothing new. General consensus here is that it was a waste of a serious national broadcast. I’m not sure we’ll all be glued to the TV if he does have something new to say. Nothing a calm, news item couldn’t have told us!

None of these parties will get a preference off me again if they continue to sit on their hands and not work to form a sustainable government to help Ireland at this time.
.
@MichealMartinTD
has annoyed me on a couple of internal party matters but as Taoiseach he is a rock of calmness & decency.
It’s not popular to say it on Twitter but our vaccination & booster programmes are world class. Himself,

Every time I land back into Dublin Airport I am embarrassed hearing tourists being told there is no Metro or train connection to the City Centre.
Build it and pay for it with an airport premium on the ticket price like most other countries do.
Waffle. I’m 35. I grew up in Meath, with access to BBC NI and UTV, and I remember every night for the first 14 years of my life seeing stories of murder and mayhem by the IRA and loyalists.

millenials want jobs and affordable houses not to be dragged to a past they have not lived. The but the IRA nonsense is irrelevant to them. I was 10 yrs of age when the GFA was signed, I always find it hilarious for political opponents to try use the RA
People aged 60-64 have a seventy-times greater risk of dying from Covid-19, compared to someone aged 20-34.
The idea that anyone aged 20-34 would get a vaccine before someone aged 60-64 (unless they have an underlying health condition) is immoral and unethical in my opinion.
@unadunphy
My god. Regina is a government minister until so long as another government is formed. It’s been like this since 1937.
Stop making this crisis about you and your agenda! It’s pathetic.
@AngusMacNeilSNP
Ireland, 97 years after partial independence, is a modern, open, outward looking, prosperous and progressive nation.
How can someone not want that for their own nation?
Why doesn’t
@rte
have a Netflix-like subscription service for Irish people living abroad?
I’d happily pay equivalent of license fee, if not more, to be able to access some live content and RTÉ Player (if it worked properly)
Doctors in Belgium invited to get their first jab twice, only 27% of frontline workers in Brussels showing up for their vaccination, centres with a capacity to do 1000 shots per day only handing out 200... Almost unbearable to read but sadly predictable.
This is a total lie. Have just called Apache Pizza in Bali!robe. They confirmed that someone ordered the pizza and paid for them. They then delivered them.

Really careless language in this tweet from
@rtenews

SF has opposed every EU referendum in Ireland including the one to join the EEC.
If that’s not anti-EU, I’m not sure what is?
Media need to learn how to interrogate answers as well as asking initial questions.

No doubt that she has been working night and day to get ready for the reopening of schools.

The way himself and his family have kept going when most others would have given up on public life is inspiring.
Obviously I work for

so people will say I’m paid to say this.
But this is an amazing speech. Powerful, emotional and honest. Grateful that 🇮🇪 has him fighting our corner in EP.
Nothing or no one will ever convince me that men with guns going into pubs, asking Roman Catholics to leave, and then spraying the remaining Protestants with bullets was justified.
Naked revisionism. No thanks

I think this is a good time to remind everyone that the UI movement in NI belongs to SF/IRA. Their agenda isn’t about real unity. Just take a look at their elected representatives and what they think of every single British citizen in NI. Our flag and our culture.
There’s a certain type of asshole who mockingly tweets about a person being dead when they clearly aren’t.
They think because they’re trying to be funny, that it’s somehow ok. It’s never ok.
Twitter really is the pits at times.
Exactly who is confused about the
#GreenList
?
Hierarchy of messaging is clear:
1. Only travel if necessary;
2. If you must travel;
a) Countries on green list don’t require a 14 day quarantine
b) Countries not on green list do require a 14 day quarantine
So Éoin O Broin thinks the Taoiseach is out of touch yet he’s the one who doesn’t know the diff between Mr. Burns & Smithers.
Instead of tweeting childish attacks, he could have used the time to post his book to his colleague, Min Hargey, who has failed on housing in the North.
A question for those who wanted FF to enter in a deal with SF.
What have SF done since the election to make them more acceptable to FF as partners?
Hint: Sending a letter demanding to be in government is not an answer.
What these two guys pulled off in

More importantly it’s the way it should be.
I’m working class. SF don’t represent my interests.

I think De Valera and Lemass would disagree with this. Fairly confident them being veterans of the 1916 Rising, WoI and Civil War surely made them republicans.
Two things changed my life immensely in my teenage years.

By saying “we must oppose NATO’s expansion”, Deputy Smith is really saying we must oppose the decision of sovereign states to voluntarily join NATO.
This is straight out of Putin’s playbook.
Shame on her.

We must also oppose NATO's expansion.

Ireland is a freaking great place to live despite what the negative assholes on Twitter would have you believe.
The first 100 years of independence (with mainly FF Govts) have seen remarkable improvements in our quality of life)

Britain doesn't see Ireland as its equal & that's the root cause of this impasse. The British Establishment (Tories & Brexiteers) does not understand why it has to negotiate in the 1st instance & secondly why it can't just demand a solution that is of their choosing.

May 7th: Ireland was in lockdown. People were being told not to travel within Ireland.
He broke rules by going from Monaghan to Swords...
No one could travel; why did he think he should be allowed travel to Glasgow?
I suspect I was one of last people to interview Brian. Spoke to him on April 13 for 35 mins for my MA thesis.
Still listen to it every once in a while just to remind myself of his brilliance!
Have never understood why Irish local authorities insist on public lighting being stuck on poles taking up space on pavements.
Here in Brussels they attach them to buildings and it cleans up the streetscape massively.
