This was an exercise in patience. Waiting 45mins in the cold to try capture this with noone in the frame. Was worth the wait and taught me not to rush and just absorb the surrounds. Nite all :)
One of my most memorable photos, The Shambles in Yorkshire. Standing in the middle of the road with tripod, waited 45 mins to get this but i think it was worth it! Hope you are having a lovely evening :)
Goodnight all and i will leave you with an old favourite, been very popular as a greetings card. The horse popped his head up as i was pressing the shutter :) goodnight all!

Steaming out of Oakworth. I took this earlier today when the snow was really coming down. not great video as i was hand holding but Oakworth does look quite picturesque in the snow doesnt it and almost like a filmset!
Let no one be in doubt, the camera has been a lifesaver to me over the lockdown. Mental health really seems to have been forgotten during the lockdown and something this evening really highlighted that to me. Enjoy this double rainbow, I was speechless when I saw this!

It's been a long day and long drive but was nice to go to the pub for dinner. I managed to capture this before the rains moved in. Have a lovely evening all and thanks so much for your kind words and a huge hi to all my new followers also!
I know I said no more autumn shots but i stumbled on a new location this afternoon, lighting was beautiful as was the waterfall and I had to take this! One of my favourites yet :) Hope you don't mind one more autumn shot!
Earlier I posted an image of the footpath through the wall. Well, I went through again today but took a little video. Had to be careful as it was slippery and dark so it's not very good, but I hope you enjoy all the same !
Hidden away in a glen on the Isle of Man is this elegant viaduct which carries the trams. Lovely spot and I liked the staircase winding up to the right
Shot this this evening on a walk, nothing much of course but nice to see the daffodils out. though i'm hanging up the cameras i am still producing a couple of books, i guess a kind of anthology of some of my favourite (or best images). hope youve had a nice day today
Well. Happy 50th me. On the eve of my 50th I decided to have a heart attack now in hospital awaiting a stent to be fitted lol. Feeling OK but good I called 999 when I did. I cannot praise the medics enough, they are brilliant
this image was shortlisted in the Landscape Photographer of the Year 2021. Although it hasnt won I'm very proud that it was even shortlisted and so i cant complain at all :)
This is prob my final autumn image, by next weekend the colours will mainly have gone. However, this one is one of my favourites, taken in the woods yesterday. I do hope you've had a good weekend! thanks as well for the kind comments you've left me as well )

And lastly this one. this week has been a struggle mentally tbh, im so lucky to have photography to keep me anywhere near sane. If you are also struggling please know you aren't alone and please don't suffer alone.
(view full) goodnight all, i'll leave you with prob my favourite image of 2021 so far, I took this last night and the light was stunning, on the foliage and particular the reds on the tree branches :) goodnight!

And I thought this photo wasn't any good! thanks for proving me wrong:) I think it will have to be on next years christmas card! hows your day been? Im really cold still, i know its the aftereffects of the jab though
I had the angiogram and they were able to find and fix the problem with a stent. One of the large arteries had become blocked causing the heart attack. Looks like I'm going back home tomorrow
(view full) by request I've uploaded this to my website 'moonrise over The Shambles' . i think i may do this as a greetings card ready for the christmas cards, what do you think ?

And finally, on this dark day for whats left of the UK, remember that there is still so much beauty in nature and landscape which i try to capture through my lens and i really hope they brighten and lift your day just a little. take care my friends and have a good weekend
a bit of positive news, the doctor wants to see me this afternoon with a view to giving me morphine, nothing else has killed the pain and morphine is the last chance i have. please wish me luck and pray for me
I managed to go for a tiny walk just to ease the back and managed to capture this. Felt really good to have the camera and try capture something even though its nothing special. Have you had a good day ?
I hope you're not completely bored of my autumn photo quite yet! Here's one from the weekend, it was a lovely day, the light was very flat which helped bring out the colours. after

just to explain about this image. It had been raining torrentially and i had to take shelter. as i was about to leave i saw the sun break through the horizon and the warmth of it evaporated the rain giving this really soft quality to the image. I didnt need to edit at all!
Finally I will leave you with this. of course, it is Haworth on a snowy day, quite apt ;) thank you all so much for all your lovely comments and hi to all my new followers also! Sleep well all, stay safe and have a great friday :) goodnight!
Well, goodnight all, thank you so much for all the countless words of encouragment and I never realised my photos have helped so many people. how can i ever been down when I know they help people. so thank you all, you're amazing! Ill leave you with my 2nd most popular image :)
'The patience of a photographer' . Its taken me 4yrs to finally nail this shot and get it exactly as I envisaged it! Everything came together and was worth the run up the hill with my gear! Do you think it was worth the effort?
a final video, I forgot about this. I went for a walk in the local woods during lockdown and this herd of deer charged straight past me, i was rather lucky not to have been hit by them! still beautiful things arent they! enjoy :)
This unexpected rainbow appeared last night, moments before i was about to leave for home! please click on this to see the full image and the full beauty of the rainbow
I was flown over to Liverpool and now at the specialist heart and chest hospital being cared for. Thank you all so much for so many kind words and comments, I really appreciate it so much
Had a relaxing day with a friend down at the railway. On the walk from Oxenhope passed this very old Donkey Bridge, lovely little feature along the stream! Have you had a good day?
Evening all, I hope you are well. Sorry I've been quiet, I've had a shocking bad day today, much of my own making :( I did though go for a quick walk this morning near home and captured these winter shots with snow! Im tired and despondant this evening, stay safe all
Evening all, how are you today? Here is the rather beautiful village of Helmsley in North Yorkshire. a rather dull day but think it works ok overall :) have a lovely evening all!
Evening all how are you? I've just got home from a long day but I did get to walk in the park, managed to capture this tree. It always looks beautiful this time of year as well :)
I'm calling it a night i think, feel rather down this evening but I really hope you've all had a lovely day and enjoyed it whatever youve done! Ill leave you with this image which turned out to be much more popular than i ever expected! goodnight all and sleep well
Evening all, i hope you've had a good friday ? This is the first shot i've taken in almost a month so its not brilliant but better than nothing, dont be too harsh please :)
And finally I took this image this morning as 76079 was leaving Grosmont. I think this was the best steam train shot I took all week LOL

Good morning all, how are you today ? no paraidolic image today, just a picture of a horse enjoying the fog covered valley as the sun sets :) have a good day and i really hope there isn't any flooding at all for you, stay safe and take care!
'circle of trees' i shot this panorama at the weekend. i liked the 5 trees in a circle, a bit of sun just breaking through the leafy canopy and esp the multitrunked tree. That caught my eye and had to position myself carefully to get most of it in!
Good morning all how are you ? Here's a shot of the 199 steps in Whitby I took, I know there are 1000s of shots from this angle and I suppose I had to do my take of it:) thankfully I had a dramatic sky which helps :) have a nice day all!

Goodnight all. Just been out to dinner with a friend in keighley and saw this nicely lit tree. Had to get it with the moon on top :) nothing special looks nice
Good night all!
Today has not been a good day, everything that can go wrong has done, I can already feel sharper pains in my chest from stress. This though was how it looked this morning, rather nice! Have you had a good day ?
oh no, another autumn shot! I went to the woods for a short time this afternoon to see if there were any colours left in the leaves. Theres some though I liked this view with the half fallen down fence. Hope you're not too bored of Autumn quite yet :)

I took this yesterday. I always pass this on the way to the office and its not too bad a way to start the day! IN the distance is Hewenden viaduct. Hope you like it :) have you had a nice day at all ?
I went for a walk near ilkley recently and i had stopped to change my memory card (and the cameras 😄😄) and i looked at this tree and saw this. the first thing i saw was a face, the light had fallen on it perfectly. do you see it as well ? If not then i must have been sober :)
One final message, so many thank me for my photos brightening their day but you don't realise how your lovely comments brighten mine too, its a reciprocal thing and i thank you all for your comments which help me as much as i hope my photos help you ! goodnight :)
Sorry, one more autumn shot! I went for a drive near Sowerby Bridge and the sun lit up the trees beautifully. it would be a crime not to have got some shots of the beautiful colours! hows your day been ?
Quite proud of this i took on saturday. It as a challenge as i wanted to get the steeple free of branches along with the clocks as well as get the whole bush in. I think i managed it :)
Morning all how are you? I'm calmer this morning, putting things behind me and moving forwards. Here is an image from yesterday, just the top of main street in Haworth. Have a good Monday all!
BTW unfortunately due to certain circumstances I've had to restrict who can see my messages. All my followers can but if anyone doesn't follow me and want to see my tweets they have to send an add request. Sorry for this. Goodnight all , I'm shattered
Sitting in Oakworth station waiting for the last train. The warmth from the fire and the ticking of the clock, it could have been 100 yrs ago! I do hope that this little video gives you a feeling of calm and peace and just warms you a bit :)
I took this at the height of the pandemic last yr. This little lamb looking so happy and carefree always puts a smile on my face and hope it does yours too! I remember thinking I wish I could feel the happiness this lamb had. retweet to anyone who needs a smile:)
One from last Autumn. I'd gone for a walk and spotted this. Went back to the car to grab my wellies and headed here to get a couple of shots. It seems to have come out okay overall
Good morning all and hope you have a good weekend! I took this in 2019 after a bit of snowfall and, even better, no rubbish dumped by the phone box ! LOL have a good satuday all :)
Finally I will leave you with this, similar to the well known one but again , no camera tricks, just beautiful light. thank you every one for your lovely comments, they uplift me as much as i hope my photos do you. have a wonderful weekend my friends!
I came to a realisation today. I've tried so hard to make photography successful that I've not enjoyed taking pictures. Now I've finally accepted it will never happen I think I can finally take photos because I enjoy it, without any pressure to make it a success
And finally this, a little frustrating as a couple had walked into the frame so i had to recompose. These things happen as a photographer! goodnight all :)
