When I was a kid I heard my dad talk about the nightmare of Argentina. The World Cup back in ‘78. In my time as a footballer, Messi was the dream of every player. Today, I played against the dream that became a nightmare. Congrats to Argentina, but I’m so damn proud of this squad
It still saddens me that there’s racism in football. On behalf of all the TRUE Atalanta fans and the people of Bergamo, I’d like to apologize to Koulibaly.
My management told me to post a holiday photo so my Instagram wouldn’t look formal with all professional photos. So: lovely holiday time. Can’t wait to get back and start the new season!
There are more important things than a win. It always sounds a bit ‘meaningless’, but my thoughts are with the people in Ukraine. Stay strong, stay safe.
Yes, we’re on top of the league (for now). More importantly, social media today still shows how far from reality we are. Whether Casillas was hacked or not: I see too many posts that are far off. Waiting for the day this wouldn’t be news, ‘cause actually that’s the problem here.
I wish I could’ve served a 1000 pizzas, because nobody deserves it more than the people of Bergamo. Thanks everyone for the amazing support, it’s amazing to see what a small team and city can give to the people, it makes me proud to be part of this amazing journey with Atalanta.
The image from the time at the moment of the 1-1 doesn’t go out of my head. We were almost in the semi finals. Football can be hard sometimes. Still hard to swallow the day after, but looking back at it, this team, the city of Bergamo are more united than ever.
Like The Rolling Stones say: You can’t always get what you want. Today it was You don’t always get what you deserve. So proud of this team, we keep growing and surprising.

Beating Liverpool 0-2 would’ve been a good reason to party if it was not for the shadow of this day. Thanks for inspiring everyone who loves football, Diego.
