should recognize their unprecedented leadership, courage, and moral clarity. In the midst of so much heartbreak, they have moved from their hearts & center, always with a strategy & endless courage. They show us the way.
Page proof stage is here! A book marks but a moment in our evolving research, but I’m glad to see this one out soon. It tells the stories of urban indigenous, maroon & favela resistances in Brazil’s most industrialized region & develops the notion of dependent settler capitalism.

This is the street where my sister lives, it is systematically over-policed and criminalized. Shame on you Germany for failing your historical responsibility to stand against genocide and for failing to defend a people struggling for national liberation. Shame on you.
I live in Berlin. The police are literally camped at Sonnenallee, which is a neighborhood with a v big Palestinian population. They're arresting brown ppl left and right.

How much longer are we to endure our hearts breaking every day. This is not the world I want to live in, not the world I want the next generation to inherit. Palestinians show us that another world is possible, but we cannot fail them. Ceasefire now. Rest in power Refaat.
Israel killed Prof. Refaat al-Areer, one of Gaza's most prominent writers, poets & activists who spent his life trying to get Gaza's voice to the outside world.
He was killed in a targeted airstrike on his sister's home that also killed his brother, sister & her 4 kids...

A feminist analysis demands an intersectional lens so that the category of woman and the system of oppression patriarchy isn’t separated from its co-constitutive (material & symbolic) power relations (e.g. capitalism, race, settler colonialism).
In this new Special Issue, we show how different Latin American contemporary societies are settler colonies, which helps us better understand the characteristics/nature of colonialism and therefore the task of decolonization in LA. Thoughts welcome!

The violences & challenges faced today by Ind ppls are strikingly similar to what they faced in the 1960s and 70s. Bolsonaro himself is aware of and exploits his association w/ that past, celebrating and defending the Military Dictatorship in his ideological discourse.

Thinking of my mother, a health worker in Brazil, who is nowhere close to getting a vaccine, where a settler capitalist nation-state under Bolsonaro goes out of its way to remain complicit with North-South global inequalities.

There’s a clear misunderstanding of what intersectionality is here. It’s a methodology that helps analyze how power structures are co-produced and therefore need to be tackled in their entanglements. This is precisely how it’s useful for activism.
Part of its "package" of laws is the "temporal mark" thesis, which allows only for the demarcation of lands that were in the possession of Ind. ppls in 1988, which totally ignores the complex realities of Ind. identities & their relationship with the land and...
