If you're a Youtube Viewer:
- 100k subs = tiny channel
- 50k views = failure
- 40 uploaded videos = lazy creator
If you're a Creator:
- 100k subs = huge achievement
- 50k views = more views than 95% of videos
- 40 videos = insane amount of work
You won't get it until you do it.
I think AI will be just like CGI.
- It'll continue to improve
- Everyone will use it (faster, cheaper)
- People will get tired of everything being "fake"
- A desire for authentic human creation will be reborn
- Creating things by hand will be praised/admired once again
First week of TikTok earnings.
Unfortunately, I had another 21.6M views on videos uploaded before I was accepted for monetization 😂
But this definitely seems promising.
My latest video is performing 3x below normal and I'm not sure why.
😃 All comments have been positive
👀 Watch time is above average
🚀 CTR is at a normal value
I've tried several thumbnails/titles but nothing is moving the needle.
What can I do better?
0 to 100k TikTok followers in 4 days! 🚀
Had a small initial boost from mentioning my account in my last youtube video.
And organic growth took it from there!
This year was a great start to my content creation journey!
My goals for 2024 are:
🚀 get all of these to 1M+
🧠 launch 3 design courses
🔥 create a webtoon series or video game
🧗 climb a V8
Helping other YouTubers doesn't hurt your own channel.
This isn't a zero-sum game.
We aren't competitors.
Growing together is the best part of this journey.
Creators with 1M+ View Videos how much time did you spend on these videos on average?
Between researching and scripting, filming and editing how many HOURS did you spend on these videos?
👇🏾👇🏾👇🏾
For the first 2 years this video was live, it got 20k views.
So I stuck it in a custom “Popular Videos” playlist on my channel page.
Now it’s sitting at 1.2M views 🤯
Have done the same with some other lower-view vids with positive results.
I've never gotten more client project requests in my entire life than after my Instagram blew up.
Even getting millions of views on youtube videos didn't produce this kind of demand.
If you're a designer, build an audience on Instagram now!
I make 1 flat earth joke in my last video...
And the entire comment section is trying to explain to me how the planet is actually round.
It's like, guys, I know we don't live on a pancake 😂
This bad boy just hit 4,000,000 views! 🥳
These were some of my favorite designs yet, and I'm stoked so many others enjoyed them.
Next vid drops Friday 👀

Designing Steamed Hams (and other Fast Food) from
@TheSimpsons
was my biggest video investment ever.
- Spent over $2000
- Worked for 1 Month+
- Hoped it would be my big break
But it was a total flop.
Here's what happened and the lessons I learned... 👇
Me 5 years ago:
- Making logos for $50
- Had no idea how to run a business
- Had no audience
Me today:
- Only work on projects over $5k
- Have multiple income streams
- Teach design on YouTube to 26,000 people
Follow me if you want to learn how I did it.
YouTube has removed clickable social icons that appeared in the desktop banner.
They've been replaced with this ugly string of links.
Why would they do this 😭
I wish YouTube would let creators feature comments.
Everybody uses their Pinned Post for promotion and sponsor links.
Would be cool to have that AND still be able to show off our favorite viewer comments.
YouTube has 0 data upon which to understand your content when you first start your channel.
So be very specific about what information you're feeding it.

My first freelance design job was a $10 photoshop gig.
Within a year, I was charging $100/hr.
The year after, I landed my first $40k project.
Making good money as a designer is 100% possible.
Much of it was the courage to ask for high budgets and a portfolio to back it up.
Still get 15k views/day on a video I released 5 months ago.
Your entire channel is an engine of growth/revenue, not just your latest video.
Everything compounds.
I released another video during the peak of this one.
It's now heading towards 1M views.
The timing was a MASSIVE factor.
But I'll save that breakdown for another day.
I started my graphic design business doing $10 photo edits.
Within 3 years, I was doing design projects for $50k.
Much of that was from quoting clients a price I thought they'd say "no" to.
Improving my skills also helped a bunch 😂
Before I was a YouTuber, I was a designer.
Before I was a designer, I was an engineering student.
Before I was a student, I was a game maker.
Every part of that journey helped me gain the skills to do what I do now.
Refreshing the youtube recommendation page gives me the same 10 videos over and over...
Maybe 1 or 2 of them change each time.
Been doing this for a couple of weeks.
Anyone else notice it?
Don't say your prices are $500 - $1,000.
Say the price is $1,000.
People always go for the low number, so give them the higher one instead.
You can always go down in price, but you can rarely go up.
The video concept was simple.
I created hyper-realistic versions of Famous Logos using Photoshop.
Snappy editing and animations made the design process entertaining.
This was the Intro...
Finally, I got the hint.
I began making content specifically around Design.
No shows.
No brands.
Nothing to confuse the algo.
The result was my first 1M+ video!
Emulating other Creators only gets you so far.
You'll never be better at being Mr. Beast than he is.
Everyone has to find that special thing that sets them apart.
I throw away a lot of 6/10 ideas for YouTube in search of 10/10 ideas.
Short form content will now give me an avenue to bring those discarded videos to life!
I treat content creation as a business.
So I value results over passion.
But I also really enjoy designing a wide variety of things.
So I always find a way to have fun with the designs regardless of the theme/idea.
@DesignerBran
Question - prioritizing video ideas based on virality can devolve into a numbers game. How can you still work on projects that you are truly passionate about, knowing they might not perform as well?
I updated the thumbnail to something MUCH simpler.
This brought maximum focus to the logos. 👀
The title was updated for people who didn't know what RTX was.
ClickPilot now lets you easily create customizable video mockups to share with others!
It works with any thumbnail/title you've uploaded or any existing video in the app.
Available to everyone on the Pro plan 🚀
The first 30 sec of your video isn't your Intro.
Your Title and Thumbnail are.
They set expectations more than anything else.
Not delivering on those expectations immediately causes people to leave.
My channel started out with simple Graphic Design content.
But I wanted something to make it "different".
So I started designing things from movies / tv shows instead of generic posters and logos like most design channels.
This led to some really fun videos.

Thanks Roberto!
A few things:
1) They switched from a vertical bar to horizontal for shelf-space reasons. This gave us a chance to make the logo much bigger and stick it front and center. The logo on the old design was barely visible.
2) The choice to make all the bars blue…
ClickPilot is out of beta with epic new features!
