I get ask why I coach for free or dont charge for AAU. Its simple man, this game that I love, saved my life..the only thing I loved more than the streets was ball as a young man, it kept me out of prison or worse, So I gotta give back🤷🏾‍♂️, these young men deserve it.

Do most AAU coaching staffs only have 2 coaches? I’m trying to figure out why these tournament directors only give you two coaching wristbands..🤔 I thought most staffs at least had 3 coaches..mine does, tired of having to have coaches pay to coach, 3 should be the norm to me🤷🏾‍♂️

People ask me why I don’t charge my players to play..it’s simple, as a kid I remember not having money to do all the summer AAU stuff. I never want a kid to feel that, so I make it a point to have my program setup to where a kid never feels that. So I made it no team fees🖤💛

kids dont be discouraged if you don’t have D1 offers right now. I’ve seen kids go D1 right out of high school and never be heard from again or barely touch the court. I’ve seen kids go the JUCO route and become D1 stars, everyone’s path is different, don’t compare yours to others

Boy these folks in Oklahoma will have you thinking that 6A is the only validated basketball in the state lol smh..y’all just don’t get it man. It’s good players/teams in all classes..it’s a 2A kid I’ve seen bake a lot of 6A kids🤷🏾‍♂️, and 4A is always tough! Hoopers all over!

AAU coaches get mad when a kid leaves their program or they don’t get a kid they wanted and then all of a sudden talking bad about the kid, but when you wanted him he was the best thing since sliced bread..quit being bitter, we don’t always get every kid we want! It happens

I see the kid from Putnam City North made sportscenter top 10 with his 3 quarter court shot to send it into OT against Shawnee..can you imagine being a kid and seeing yourself and your teammates on sportscenter, gotta be a dope experience, happy for those young men, and they won.

players be weary of basing your recruitment off of others getting offers. A lot of those are favor offers from connected AAU coaches to generate interest to a kid, in order to make the program look good. Some aren’t committable, the optics aren’t always what they seem.

Why we don’t talk about how these high schools have kids for 4yrs, 6 days a week, 2 and a half hours a day..and these kids aren’t developing. But an AAU program has them 2 days a week, 2 hrs a day, and gets ridiculed when a player doesn’t develop..🤔 But I digress

The thing I like from the UCO camp is that kids are actually getting offered that attended it. So many colleges have these camps as just money grabs and never, or almost never offer kids that attend. Salute 🫡 to UCO for holding camps for the right reasons.

You can’t convince me Ty Frierson isn’t a D1 guard man, that kid has the “it” factor..yea I said it, he’s a D1 PLAYER..,one of the better floor generals I’ve seen this year, kid just doesn’t get rattled, no moment is too big. He passes the eye test.

Do people realize how impressive it is that Forsythe reached 1000pts as a sophomore, remind you he’s a kid who plays the right way, he isn’t jacking up a ton of bad shots every night to get this like a lot of kids..yes deep runs in the playoffs have helped, but he’s efficient !!

Y’all keep saying we have too many AAU teams, maybe that’s true..but imagine how many underserved youth/players we’d have if we didn’t. Some AAU teams really want to compete and get kids next level opportunities, but some just aspire to give kids a positive outlet.

I don’t argue recruiting with people. If the whole Anthony Pritchard situation didn’t show you how hard covid effected these 2021’s then you just don’t know recruiting, had he played this summer he would have clearly been a power 5 type player. They didn’t have eyes on them.

One thing I’m learning about AAU is bigger stage doesn’t always equal bigger opportunity..a lot of kids are going to bigger stages just to get minimized in their opportunities. I understand the sales pitch, trust me I do, and I get the ego aspect.. but fit is better than a name..

Nike gets it. A free livestream which allows someone who may not have a dog in the fight or may just be a casual AAU fan to see these kids and know their names. I’ve watched teams that I know nothing about, and it’s been great. No wonder it continues to be the standard yearly.

Didn’t have the weekend we wanted lost two very winnable games that we should have had. But the 4th game of the weekend we only had 5 guys(don’t ask 🤦🏾‍♂️) but my guys battled their tails off, and won it..tired, exhausted, drained..but they battled for me, I’m so proud of them!

Tulsa Memorial may be the best passing team I’ve seen on the high school level in years. In a season where I’ve seen so much selfish basketball, these guys play the right way..so many guys can hurt you, but yet no one cares who gets to eat game by game. Sound basketball!

I love AAU ball, people always have a negative view on it but I love it. One thing I love the most is to bring a group of kids together that have always competed against each other, and watch them grow as brothers and build bonds they would never have had if it weren’t for AAU.

imagine a 🏀 culture in Oklahoma where instead of comparing who has the best events, college relationships, and better programs, we pooled our resources to help facilitate these things with each other that the other lacks. We can compete, but still help all these players. Smh..

A fellow AAU coach told me, man coach y’all might be a little down this summer, y’all didn’t land the big name kids you normally get..I told him my best teams have been the guys that didn’t have “names” and had a chip on their shoulder. You know I’m cooking up something 😉..🖤💛

I feel like I’m one of the last of the coaches around here that values and actually utilizes quality post play. I love a great post presence, hell I even have my guards post up. It just opens up so much for your team, but everyone just wants to drive&kick for 3’s now..smh

You do that to these soft kids now and they get an attitude, parents be mad at you and ready to pull their kid..kid be ready to quit and the whole nine. I remember a time when good players actually wanted to be held accountable and coached hard.

No disrespect, but AAU ball must be immensely different than high school ball. Cause I’ve seen players this year go dominate in high school ball, that my AAU guys made look very pedestrian at best last summer ..just saying 🤷🏾‍♂️..

Kids wanna play with a lot of talent, til they gotta share minutes with that talent 🤷🏾‍♂️..then they be ready to quit cause they aren’t playing a ton like in HS. If you want to be on a really good team, be ready to share time on the floor..it’s simple 🤷🏾‍♂️

You ever want to know what special is, this kid Anthony Allen from the Tulsa hawks is it. Look at this multiple effort, a lot of us are begging kids for one effort play. He gives 4 in 1 sequence..close out, block, save, and gets back into the play for the oop! Respect young fella

I don’t understand why a kid would sign to go to a school to play JV and be financially in debt, when he can go to a D3 and get some merit/academic based scholarships that will almost completely cover his/her tuition. Oh my bad it’s because yall think D3 is beneath you smh ..

How we don’t mention Zander Baker when we talk about top point guards in this state is crazy. Kid may be small, but he’s as skilled as any guard I’ve seen in this state, and I’ve seen em all..high IQ as well. That’s not easy to do what he did today against a really good team ..

It’s so disappointing to see bigs, not get paint touches consistently or more than they get perimeter jump shots.. the game is changing..but why make it hard, if you have size, why not get in the low post and create help situations or easy buckets. Especially here in Oklahoma

I don’t think people realize how hard it is to come into college as a freshman and make an impact immediately, if they did, then they wouldn’t speak as if it’s so easily doable. Emoni Bates was considered to be the #1 pick in the draft by many, and he’s struggling currently🤷🏾‍♂️
