Don’t befriend your fellow VAs just to later throw them away because you got to the one you wanted to be friends with to use for clout.
Actually, don’t do that in general. People aren’t your stepping stones.
I’ve had this happen before, it’s a shitty feeling. Don’t be that guy
@DarkCloudVA
Understand the importance of networking but don't forget those who have helped you get to where you are. A friend in need is a friend indeed.
@DarkCloudVA
@saitogami
exactly. is it not fun working with those people?
why not boost each other up?
we dont need this kind of spite and selfishness in an already tough industry
@DarkCloudVA
@saitogami
Theatre, film, voiceovers shouldn't be a competitive thing. It's a collaberative effort, and I'd rather see a production get the best-fit actors than try to selfishly hog that one role for myself. I'll always retweet casting calls on Twitter to help my fellow VAs and mutuals out.
@DarkCloudVA
There are many people who act as if this is a competition when really it’s not. I just want to have friends but it seems like a cursed word compared to “mutuals” ya know?
@CJ_Heineman
Yeah that’s true man.
I’ve never seen voice acting as a competition either. I feel like considering it one just makes it feel alittle more hostile
@DarkCloudVA
Friendship is the key to make projects easy and fun! And after all the hard work, we chat and celebrate! And if theres another project, know that your friends will be there to lend a hand!
@DarkCloudVA
I have a number of VAs that I look up to and would like to work with them, but I wouldn't just befriend them for fame. In fact, I would ask them if they'd like to work with me on a dub or something and if they say no, I'd respect that.
@DarkCloudVA
@BelRusapeVO
I've been in that situation beforehand & it's a shitty feeling indeed. People that do stuff like that just take others for granted.
