Dear journal,
Kate Upton's husband hung a curve and I put that shit in the bleachers. Don't come in my kitchen with that trash.
Until next time,

Michael Kay just said "I think the Yankees are better than the Red Sox" Bro, they haven't beat them this year, not once. The Red Sox have outscored the Yankees 36-17. What are you talking about?
First Devers, now Bello, then Casas. Duran seems like he’ll be an extension candidate before too if he keeps it up. Meanwhile the farm is stacked with talent. The fact that some fans can’t see what’s playing out in front of them is mind boggling. Chaim forever.
From The Athletic: Red Sox VP Eddie Romero says that they’re interested in working an extension with Brayan Bello, calls him a “special case” and that they will do every effort they can.
6 of the 7 HOF votes from the Boston Globe went to David Ortiz,
@Dan_Shaughnessy
is the only one not voting for him, he’s only voting for ONE player… Jeff Kent.
.
@LouMerloni
just nailed it. Red Sox had a beat on what was coming as early as the second inning. JBJ says "Fastball..." to Mookie before an 0-2 pitch to Holt, Severino pumps in 98 MPH fastball that Holt fouls away.
Everyone knows Papi’s grand slam in Game 2 of the 2013 ALCS (for good reason), but Shane Victorino’s grand slam in Game 6 that pretty much sent them to the World Series was a god damn MOMENT.
This was the play before Suarez hit a game-tying home run. If Story didn’t make this play the Red Sox would have lost yesterday. He’s been a game-changer on both sides of the field.
Trevor Story has figured out playing second base. In May, he is the leader among second basemen in outs above average at +3, runs prevented at +3, and success rate at 92%.
People like “Sox are just beating up on the A’s and Cubs!” are conveniently ignoring that the Red Sox started this month by sweeping the Blue Jays in Toronto and taking 2/3 from the Rangers.
I’m convinced the Red Sox have the most tight-lipped front office in sports. Every move in the Bloom era has been sudden. No rumors, no build up, just *boom* move. Even the Betts trade had limited leaks. Chaim lurks in the shadows. Front office must take a blood oath to silence.
Everyone: “No duh the Angels should trade Ohtani before he leaves in free agency for nothing!”
Me, who spent the last 3 years fighting with people who couldn’t understand why the Red Sox had to trade Mookie:
Love when Red Sox fans are like “Spend whatever it takes to get (player), I don’t care it’s not my money.” Then when a lucrative investment blows up, they’re like “WHAT A WASTE OF MONEY!!!”
Jon Heyman says the Red Sox are trying hard to lock up Devers. Mike Rodriguez says the Red Sox are preparing a new offer. Joon Lee says they’re not even close to a deal.
Maybe, just maybe, no one actually has a good grip about what’s going on!
You'd think Red Sox fans who literally just watched their team piecemeal its bullpen to the doorstep of the World Series would be a little more receptive to a November depth signing.

@Jared_Carrabis
has gone from a MySpace Red Sox fan page to a podcast with David freakin’ Ortiz. Anyone who says a bad word about Carrabis either doesn’t know him or is just a jealous hater. Dynamite human being who has deserved every ounce of success he’s had.
Michael Kay brought up this interview after Altuve’s walk-off in the ALCS. He did NOT want his jersey ripped off, even held it together at the collar at home plate. Maybe he wanted to save it as a keepsake? Or maybe he was trying to keep something concealed. It’s a fair question.
In 50 games, Masataka Yoshida has hit .314 with an .899 OPS, 22 XBH, 23 BB, and 22 SO.
Only two players this century have reached base 85+ times and struck out 25 or fewer times in their first 50 career games:
Masataka Yoshida (2023)
Ichiro Suzuki (2001)
ESPN had David Price on for an interview. Before the inning ended, he popped up these post-it notes with Mookie’s stats on them. He said “Mookie Betts for MVP” as he signed off.
Looks like this will be Mookie’s last moment in a Sox uni. Not a 13 pitch grand slam or a run-saving diving catch, but a heads up base running play to score a winning run. Perfect example of the dynamic player we watched go from 5th round pick, infielder-turned-outfielder to MVP.
Felger is BERATING Roy Halladay for wanting to fly a plane as a hobby. I mean, he’s basically doing mocking commentary of Halladay flying & crashing, complete with sound FX.
This is an actual quote from Felger, “He got what he deserved.”
I’m done with

Roman Anthony is now ranked as the
#9
prospect in all of baseball, per
@baseballpro
.
That’s one spot ahead of Marcelo Mayer on their list 👀
Since his promotion to High-A, he’s slashed .362/.486/.845/1.331 with 7 HR, 5 2B, and 1 3B. Insanity.
There’s an episode of Parks&Rec where a crazy cult routinely organizes apocalyptic events about a monster destroying earth. They call themselves The Resonablists so if you denounce them, it sounds like you’re opposing something logical.
It’s basically Antifa’s brand strategy.
Chaim Bloom trying time keep JD, extend Mookie, rebuild the bullpen, sign another starter, give the right side of the infield a facelift & trim payroll.
@JerryDunleavy
So the 3 highly effective vaccines that were developed in record time and are being administered by the millions that you claim to endorse are essentially worthless, Ms. CDC Director?
Chaim got Chris Martin, one of the best relievers on the free agent market, for basically the same price as Matt freaking Strahm. There's obviously still more work to do, but the fact that he isn't getting ANY praise for that is insane.
This video reaffirms a couple things. Chiefly among them is that David Ortiz isn’t just an incredible baseball legend, he’s an incredible human being. “Big Papi, you never let me down,” had me in puddles.
Listen, I like Xander as much as the next guy but people acting like signing or losing him is the lynchpin to the Red Sox being successful are crazy. They traded Mookie Betts and nearly went to the World Series a season later.
Remember when Felger/Mazz/Murray told people not to watch the Red Sox in the 2021 playoffs? NESN throws some money at him and all the sudden he’s like “Gather round for spring training baseball!!”
No regular season Boston sports until tonight. Feels like a good day for you to check out the Red Sox on
@NESN
. The Red Sox basically have a full lineup against the Twins with Garrett Whitlock on the mound … though there will be inexperience in the booth.
Mookie Betts is 26 years old and has won a World Series, an MVP, 3 Gold Gloves and 2 Silver Sluggers.
I am 26 years old and almost passed out shoveling my driveway this afternoon.

Eovaldi: I’d love to come back
Dombrowski: We’d love to have you back!
Pearce: I want to defend the title!
Dombrowski: Let’s work something out!
Pomeranz: I too would like to return in 2019!
Dombrowski: Huh? What’s that? Okay, coming! Sorry Drew, I’ve gotta run pal.
