We’re not in the west end of the city, we’re in the BEST end. Our values of honesty, kindness, respect and responsibility can be seen in everything we do.
During the school closure we will call every family at least once a week. If you have changed numbers please let us know tomorrow. It is important for children to feel supported.
I can now share the amazing news that I have been listed as a finalist in ‘The Lifetime Achievement Award’ in this year’s Scottish Education Awards. I’m well chuffed!
The woman who called offering us a very large donation of money has now decided to double it! She has no connection with our school but has read about the work we do. This money will go to improve class libraries.

I cannot thank everyone enough for making today so special. As a true southsider, Gorbals born and bred, I am proud and honoured to be an adopted East Ender.
Parents should receive a certificate for all their hard work over lockdown and some chicolates. Can’t promise the chocolates will make it home!
@GlasgowNurture
@GCParentsGroup
Delighted to share that HMI rated teaching and learning and raising attainment as ‘very good’. Thanks to children, parents, staff and partners.
The full report is available online and paper copies from the school office.

First attempt at time lapse observation today with P1 - lots of interesting conversations followed. Starting to develop documentation using technology
@deirdre_grogan
Met a former pupil today. He joined us in P5 having never been to school and not speaking a word of English. He told me he’s applied to study astro-physics as he gained 3 As and 2 Bs in his highers. My heart is bursting.
@GL1718
Look who rang the bell to show she has finished treatment - our own fabulous Mrs Hearton. We can’t wait for you to get back and keep us all on our toes again.
A sad day for us today hearing that our lovely cleaner Marie passed away last night. Her warm, bright smile cheered me up every morning when I arrived. Our school was very important to her and she worked hard to keep it shining. Our thoughts are with her family at this sad time.
Absolutely delighted announce that Mr Hynes has been appointed head of Riverbank Primary. He knows children, families and partners - it will be a pleasure to support him to get the school ready for Aug.
Spent this afternoon celebrating with
@DalmarnockDHTcn
and
@DalmarnockDHTrm
as they received their Into Headship qualification. Lovely to catch up with
@SenoraCT
too. Thanks to
@AliJMitchHT
for organising the perfect ending to 18 months hard work.
Newsletter coming our later this week and this forms part of it. We are very conscious of the Cost of the School Day and we want to support our families during these hard times. Instead of gifts we would love to receive a card, a letter or a drawing.
Very exciting news in the post today. We have reached the final 5 for a national award for partnership working. We’ll hear at an award ceremony in Feb if we’ve won. Fingers crossed.

Thenue Housing Association commissioned this mural on Abercromby St. The artwork depicts St Thenue, aka St Enoch, with a shawl featuring 29 motifs in honour of the 29 women and girls who died of the 1889 Templeton’s carpet factory disaster.
It’s our fab breakfast assistant, Annette’s, birthday today. Not polite to mention her age but it’s an odd number between 74 and 76. Happy birthday Annette - hope you have a great weekend celebrating. 🎉🎂🎉
Our newest members of staff. Not everyone hears ‘YESSSSSSS’ when they walk in a room. As one child said ‘ I can’t believe we have Team PEEK’ in our school’

One of our P1s fell first thing this morning and was told to put his jacket on radiator to dry. We all smiled when, with no prompting, he appeared after lunch and put his jacket on radiator again so that it was cosy for home time. A boy after my own heart!
My staff never cease to amaze me. Rota now set up to support parents who work in vital services. Some homework packs sent home today- others will fillow tomorrow. Contact details for all staff. Times like this proves our label of
#onebighappyfamily
Starting tomorrow, Miss McN and Mr Neil drop the word ‘acting’ from the title depute head. They have already hit the ground running - excited about taking the school forward with the two of them beside me.
It’s official. We are now a Digital School - and we’ve been asked to mentor other schools. Thanks to all staff for their hard word but special thanks to
@McginleyMrs
and
@wenwatt76
for leading us through this.
Think my team were having a go at me for always losing my specs so they made me a new pair for Christmas. All I can say is don’t give up the day job guys!
The result didn't go the way they wanted but P6 still enjoyed cheering on Scotland! Here's hoping that Poland get the in the next game. Children are cheering for all of the countries represented in their class 🇵🇱
New shoes ✔️ Bag cleaned out ✔️ Hair appointment booked ✔️ New water bottle bought ✔️ New school skirt and trousers hanging in wardrobe✔️ Preparation for HT is exactly the same as every pupil. See you all on Wednesday.
Thoroughly spoiled by my school community today. You even managed to make me cry when you sang the song written specially for me. ‘In my life I loved you more’
Sad news for
@DalmarnockPS
as Tommy, our lollipop man, passed away today. He had been in poor health for some time but we always hoped to see his cheery face back at Queen Mary St. Our condolences go to his family.
Been a day of worrying for
@DalmarnockPS
staff but Mrs H has come through her surgery and the doctors are very pleased with how things have gone. Thanks to our wonderful NHS for all they do for us. 👩⚕️🧑🏼⚕️🌈
An exhausting two days but so worthwhile. We were supported and challenged by our visitors from HMI. Delighted to hear that they could see we truly meet the needs of all our learners.
Someone from Ed. Scotland has just described our school as ‘the most inclusive, cheery, vibrant school I have ever been in! Love(d) coming to DPS, what a place, hope I can come and visit again once things are a bit more normal’ . High praise indeed
We’ll have our own fan-zones on Monday. Any child wishing to cheer on Scotland will be able to see the football. Other activities will be available. I remember watching Scotland in their first World Cup in 1974. We went to friends to watch on colour TV. 🤞🏼for better results!
Our hearts are bursting - we could not be prouder of Z. Congratulations on making it to the Glasgow team.
We’re super proud of
@mrmcnultyteach
too for coaching and nurturing you over many years.
Absolutely delighted to hear that a former pupil has been accepted by the University of Strathclyde to study biomedical sciences. Well done H! I remember when you were 11 you aspired to work in the medical profession. . Aim for the stars.
Delighted to announce our
@DalmarnockPS
family got a little bit bigger last week. Jamie, the janitor, is now dad to a gorgeous baby boy. Congratulations - M will be a great big sister. 💙🍼💙
Popped into school after the dental hospital to find out that Susan and her partner, James, had painted 13 classrooms.
@DalmarnockPS
staff all go the extra mile to make out school a happy place to learn and work.
Could not be prouder of our girls’ football team. They continue to represent our school proudly showcasing our values at all times. Well done I on making your debut and marking it with a goal!
Love this picture for two reasons. 1. The detetmination on A’s face. 2. Someone having a ‘wee moment’ inside the ball bag. Sometimes the world looks better from inside a bag!
Tonight many of our children will be going to bed very excited as tomorrow is Dzien Świętego Mikołaja ( St Nicholas Day). I’m sure they will all be on the good list. 🇵🇱🎄🇵🇱
The best news to waken up to - Mrs MacKillop’s wee bundle arrived safely last night. No name yet as they were sure it would be another boy. Mrs MacKillop and baby are well and are looking forward to introducing her to the boys later today. 🍼🍼🍼
Congratulations and well done to our new Young STEM Leaders who will be supporting the school with all things STEM! Next week they start learning how to work our 3D printer.
@STEMglasgow
I’ve posted this before but will say it again as we send Mrs H ( wee Jean) all our love. Can’t wait to have you back in your ridiculously high heels and all your bling. We’re missing your sparkle.
Delighted to announce that
@McginleyMrs
has been appointed Acting PT here at Dalmarnock.
@McginleyMrs
will be in touch soon about family digital learning.
One very proud boy in school this morning. He was getting this out of his bag as he came in the door. Well done K on your Golden Boot. 100 goals in a season.
One of the best first days ever. Having half a class allowed staff to really get to know the children. We do it all again tomorrow and then see everyone on Friday.
Today we said ‘ Good bye and thank you’ to Ms McCredie. After 20 years service in Dalmarnock Primary she has decided to retire and put her feet up. We wish you well - don’t be a stranger.
Couldn’t ask for a better group of people to celebrate with after a really busy week. Those who couldn’t make it were sorely missed. See you all on Monday.
We’re nearing the end of an extraordinary week. I’d like to thank all staff for supporting our children. Special shout out to
@PEEK_project_
and
@Jimmy_FARE
for supporting our families. Priviledged to work in a community that cares.

School may have stopped today but the newest member of
@DalmarnockPS
loves trying in her uniform. We think she’ll fit right in! Thank you
@PeekSmart
for making the suit.

Our first whole school assembly for years! It was a tight squeeze but we made it. The P1s were great listeners and soon picked up our Fischy sings as well as our assembly favourite ‘ Try Everything’.
