The Meigs County Lady Tigers will carry The Associated Press' No. 1 ranking in Class AA into the postseason. They'll hope to justify that ranking with a TSSAA state championship in March.
The TSSAA Board of Control votes to keep decision on regular-season games to individual schools and boards of education, as it has always been. Effectively, there is still hope for spring sports, at least for now.

Playing at a pace that was ultimately too fast for Cleveland to match, McMinn County pulled away to a 74-55 victory in the Region 3-4A championship game, winning the Cherokees their first region title since 2011.
Years before he ever suited up for the Chargers, Hunter Cook had ambitions for what he and his classmates were going to accomplish for McMinn Central football.
Cook's touchdown with 37 seconds left helped secure a long-awaited playoff spot for Central.
Maddox Mayfield is the first state champion for McMinn Central track since Dianna Eddington in 2011, and the third girl in the school's history to win a state title.
Karina Bystry recalled the card the Chargerettes got from one of the elementary schools during their state tournament sendoff.
It said "Win state. Please."
The sophomore played a major part in putting McMinn Central in a position to do exactly that.

McMinn County's Lexi Cooley signed to continue her education and softball career at UT-Chattanooga this morning.
From what we could gather, Cooley is McMinn softball's first Division I signee since Jenny Shell (2001).
There is a world of difference between 7-on-7 and actual football, but Matt Moody was encouraged to see McMinn Central approach the first day of full-contact practice with the same energy that has driven a so-far encouraging preseason.
