On Account of Darkness: The Summer Ontario Baseball Broke the Colour Barrier
Doug Ford looks into the camera and says, “you’ll pay for your healthcare with your OHIP card, not your credit card,” much the same way he said, “we heard you loud and clear - we will not touch the Greenbelt.”

AA giving Andrew Tinnish the go-ahead 6 yrs ago to go over-slot to sign Vladdy Jr and incur a bonus limitation penalty the following year is one of the best front office moves in Blue Jays history.
Premier Doug Ford once again stated he is a "businessman first, an elected official second". Here are some other frightening clips from his interview today including endorsing the "literal right" to win America's election and how "scary" Bernie Sanders is.

At 21.1 years of age, Bo Bichette is the youngest player in all of AAA.
Let's remember that and his brief struggles last year before we comment on his current batting average.
Blue Jays Arizona Fall League update:
Gabriel Moreno slashing .370/.471/.593 in 33 PAs.
In 6 outings, reliever Graham Spraker has allowed all of 3 base runners, along with 10Ks covering 6.1 IP.
Tiedemann
Zulueta
Castillo
Santos
Frasso
Dallas
Palmer
Robberse
Juenger
Kloffenstein
Quiñones
A. Hernandez
It’s been a long time since there was this much pitching prospect depth in the Blue Jays organization.
Julian Merryweather 98 down in the zone for a whiff. Using his FB and CH in the strike zone, and his SL off the plate for chases. Opponents have a .077 BA against him in AAA.
Shulman and Siddall is a combination I would look forward to.
Caleb Joseph did a fine job in a limited role last year, I’d be ok with more work for him.
Perhaps I’m rushing the timetable slightly, but it’s worth contemplating what kind of boost having Gabriel Moreno and Samad Taylor (on a PT basis) in the Blue Jays lineup would create.
It’s impressive how many high quality outings Blue Jays MiLB pitchers have turned in over the past week. Tiedemann, Robberse, and Palmer were all lights out in their starts.
I had some concerns about Vancouver in full season ball, given their past history.
But the C’s were far and away the NWL attendance leaders, drawing 313K fans to The Nat - 70K more than the next team.
Congrats to the C’s & their fans on a very successful return of baseball to YVR
@ETreuden
I’m all but certain this possible scenario was explained to Jackson and his agent.
Toronto will certainly offer him a contract in the offseason that will be hard to turn down.
Big news, faithful readers.
Moments ago, I hit send on an email of the final version of my first book to a publisher.
It was the culmination of 3+ years of researching/writing/revising/repeating.
This is both an intimidating and exciting moment.
More news in a few weeks….
“Tiedemann utilized his premium stuff to strike out 117 batters over 78.2 innings, posting an ERA of 2.17 and a WHIP of 0.86. Tiedemann has the look of a front-of-the-rotation anchor for years to come.”
Agreed. Hitters looked very uncomfortable against him.
Today I breakdown a dozen pitching prospects that broke out during the 2022 season.
Including: Ricky Tiedemann, Tanner Bibee, Griff McGarry and many more.
Blue Jays will follow a development plan for Brandon Barriera similar to that of Ricky Tiedemann: get him ready to pitch in Instructs next month. He should get 3-4 outings.
I’ve watched Rowdy with interest since 2013, when tales of his power were coming out of the complex league. It’s never easy to see these guys go, but sometimes a guy can only go so far in an organization.
"Excited to be a Brewer, excited to be over in Milwaukee, but there’s always a big chunk of my heart that will be left with Toronto." ❤️

Wow. Tiedemann strikes out the side in the 1st.
That was as dominant an inning as I’ve seen him work this season. And there’s a huge body of work to choose from.
Yosver Zulueta, in his High A debut, touching 100 with his FB, showing good command. Gets underneath his Curve at times, flashed a potential plus change…and good luck when he follows his FB with this wipeout SL.
Hayden Juenger started the season opening games to build up his arm. He’s now in the back of the bullpen, used in leverage situations. He moves the ball around, and gets plenty of whiffs on his mid 90s FB as a result.
It’s hard to put into words what the Vancouver Canadians mean to baseball fans in the Lower Mainland.
They support their team like no other city in MiLB.
I’m thrilled to see them bring home a title.
We need to start talking about Reese McGuire.
Month of June: .333 AVG, .912 OPS, 147 wRC+
Season: .315 AVG, .811 OPS, 123 wRC+
I'll take that from the catcher's spot any day of the week.

Davis Schneider is perhaps one of the first big leaguers to be produced by the Jays’ improvements in accommodation, pay, and nutrition.
For guys who signed for minimal bonuses, taking those stresses away has allowed them to focus on training.
Guys trending up in the Jays system, in no particular order:
Davis Schneider
Jimmy Burnette
Kendry Rojas
Chad Dallas
Adam Kloffenstein
Rafael Lantigua
Spencer Horwitz
Riley Tirotta
Rainer Nuñez
Peyton Williams
Rafael Sanchez
I’ve written so much about Gaby Moreno over the past year that I sometimes feel like I have little left to say.
All the signs point to him being a foundational part of the Blue Jays lineup one day. He’s a legitimate future All Star.
Orelvis isn’t necessarily facing big league pitching at this point, but this spring training experience will help accelerate his development.
There is some risk, but tremendous upside with that bat.
As the calendar gets set to roll over into August and the trade deadline is imminent, it’s interesting to see that both Hayden Juenger at AAA and Yosver Zulueta at AA have been moved into bullpen roles.
