Our first D1 kid was in 2009, our next D1 kid will be our 25th. Averaging almost 2/year while being a non sponsored, outstate MN AAU club. We’ve had over 100 D2 kids, really fortunate to have had so many fantastic basketball players trust us to help them with their recruitment.

The St Thomas stuff blows my mind. Like they are literally last years team, very few differences, and all their D1 bounce back guys aren’t playing, and they are still winning games. Should tell you something about how well they coach and how good that team was last year.

The purge of really good HS coaches over the last 5-6 years is a trend that needs to be reversed very quickly. There is not a single HS coach out here doing it for the money. They do it for love of the game, love of the students, and thrill of competition.

I have 38 HS wins, my wife has 70 or so. Combined we barely have 10% of what Bob McDonald has. The amount of time in the gym, weight room, film, summer camps, just for us to get to 10% wore us out. 1012 wins is a record that never gets touched. That’s the kind of legend we lost.

Our dog Mia died today. It’s hard because she’s helped Jess and I raise our kids. She was part their protector, part snuggle buddy, part responsibility teacher, and all parts one of their best friends. Dogs man. Dogs. She was one of the best.

The HS season is 2 weeks to long. I’ll rally the AAU people to commit going forward to no practices before March 25, if we get the MSHSL to agree Boys state tourney ends no later than March 15. Go back to 22 games(it’s plenty). Let HS teams travel out of state. I just fixed it.

Caledonia is a machine. They took second last season in state, without Eli. It’s more than just a one person show. They are tough, and incredibly well coached. To go to TG and beat the best team in the state? Wow. Someone there said the game had a state championship feel to it.

2008 AAU: say what you mean, deliver on those promises, offer tremendous value. 2018 AAU: absolutely make up as many ridiculous statements as you can, lie about players, schedule, costs. Fool as many kids and parents as possible. I’m ashamed at the stuff being said to families.
