Lackawanna
6pm lifts
Because getting up super early as a means of showing toughness is crap.
How about we let kids sleep like we preach, demand they crush the classroom and practice..
Then ask them to empty the tank in the weight room without anxiety.
If the NCAA is willing to allow 25% capacity, on top of its plan to bring 64 teams to a single city,... Well then I'm sure they won't mind a D1 baseball coach standing behind a juco backstop practicing the time honored tradition of avoiding any and all conversation.
I invite you to take 15 live ABs off my junior college pitching staff
If you HR, we'll name the field after you
If you don't, you have to write/tweet a recap after every game we play. (not that hard, you're a pro, right?)
It's 2 hours from Philly, I'll even pay the tolls
I could maybe score a touchdown. I could luck into a home run. I could probably get two points in an NBA game.
I could play hundreds of games of hockey and never, ever score a goal. It looks impossible.
It wasn't the umpire's fault in any way. My kids were just a bit too amped up. I felt this was the best way to restore some order.
They had plenty of fun jumping around in the dugout on the preceeding HRs and acting slightly more civil.
But please.. Encourage fun in our game
Umpire warns Lackawanna College dugout while it celebrates four home runs in one inning and their coach isn't happy about it
"Hey! Be more calm on the exciting parts! I get that it was positive for us! Keep doing good stuff!" -Coach Mike McCarry π€£
@TheNickGeller
Literally nothing you've tweeted is correct. Not the English, not the statistics, not the understanding of local government, nor the actual definition of "strictest".. This is to say nothing of the contextual histories of each of those towns. So, basically, good job
Some days you'll remember forever.
The little homie Calvin Thomas McCarry born 9:54 last night. 8.2lbs, 21inches. Hopefully left handed and blessed with his mother's brain.
You don't need a portal arm..
You need the 6'6 strike throwing machine that just held the top offense in the country to 1 run over 6 innings, under the brightest lights at 8pm in a world series prime time start.
He's graduated, available, with zero issues. This is a slam dunk
Left school at 230am
Drove in 4 vans 530 miles away, crossing 4 state lines.
Started the first game at 1
Finished the second game at 6
Walked away with two W's.
Took every player to make it happen.
You ever lose the
#1
team in the country, under the bright lights of the world series, and have a 2.5 year old run onto the field and fire left handed strikes at you in such a manner that you remember it's just a game, it'll always been a game, and you're incredibly thankful
Kyle Scott up to 97 yesterday at Ascent MLK showcase.
He's 20 years old. Low mileage on the arm. Was spinning 3k sliders at 83-85, CBS at 3.1k at 76-79. Change 87-90
If you're a baseball kid tweeting about the offers you've gotten and feel it necessary to denote when it's a D1 school and how many of those offers you've gotten.
Well, I look forward to the email you send after your first fall, stating interest in the juco route
From a purely game theory perspective, as I go through the pitch by pitch data from the last 3 WS games, it's hard to discount the idea that the Astros aren't really sequencing pitches in a traditional sense but more selecting them against bat path and adjustment hypotheticals.
We went 30-16
Won the region & district & went to Enid
Were willing to play anyone, anywhere
Had teams in my own region dodge me
Had teams cancel the back half of h2h 3x
passed > 800 covid tests
And drove this many miles. (8800 total), just to play
2021 was a massive success.
You want to know where baseball is going? Joe Kelly is out here slangin 100s in the sixth inning of a Wednesday interleague game. JBJ just threw a ball 320 feet like Clemente and it was no biggie. And Ramos hit a ball at like 35deg LA, up and away 375 to RC.
To the "you can get drafted from anywhere / I don't know why X player isn't interested in my school that hasn't had a draft pick since the Carter Administration" crowd.
Yeah. There's talent everywhere. There's just not enough to attract pro eyeballs everywhere.
Wait, vandy just had a guy make a mental error and slam his helmet when he got to the dugout.
And no coach jumped down his throat?
Doesn't that mean they condone it?
Or maybe, just maybe, letting the kids be human is the first step to culture.
I'm looking to hire 2 assistants for the upcoming year. We have been blessed in the past with such well qualified young men that they've been offered MLB jobs and larger college opportunities.
Just be a baseball coach, I don't care which discipline, and if you want a shot, DM me
I won't lie or inflate velo reports on my guys. Why? Because I spent 7 years as a D1 RC and know how things like that effect relationships. I won't overstate the conference or role evaluation on my guys, why? Because there's nothing worse than sending a kid to sit and not compete
Quit my job running/building car dealerships for Mercedes
GF told me to take a shot at being happy, not just making $
Took a volly gig at Lasalle U at age 28, spent all the savings, lived in tiny apartment.
36 now, HC of a great juco, GF now wife, baby on way
Happy as hell
Yeah, not Lackawanna Baseball.
Where we have a weight room that produces NFL talent, we get $20-$30 a day to eat. A gear package with 14 items & Herchel bag
Bring your own glove. If you can agree on a bat brand, I'll find us a deal
It's juco. But you can treat them right too
Unless youβve played JuCo ball you have no right to complain about travel, weight rooms, meal plans, or equipment. We get 7 dollars at Wendyβs, 2 practice shirts, ride in white vans from 2002, and surprise surprise, we have to get our own bats and gloves. No Rawlings Deals. Lol
I just want someone to post their
"4 days rest, 38 degrees, 2 hour bus ride, 3 hour sitting in bullpen, 6th gamein 10days, Top Velo.
Because almost none of you are 91-92 t93. 7 in that scenerio.
If you were...you wouldnt need the portal, youd need an advisor
Cody is the son of a major leaguer and by age 12 had been in the LLWS. He was named an All American in HS while staring at a prominent program in AZ. He was ranked 93rd in the country. Ive never seen an eval that didn't rave about the hit tool
Stop w/ the fake inspiration stuff
Cody Bellinger only hit ONE HR in high school. He was a 4th rd draft pick in 2013. His first pro season, he struck out 46 times in 47 games & batted .210.
6 years later after constant adjustment, Belliβs won NL ROY & MVP.
Moral of the story: bet on yourself & love the grind.
want to play D1 baseball?
:Open: ESPNapp
Find a 5run game from Sat
- you as good as whoever P's the 6th inning for the losing team?
Find a championship game on Sunday Watch the 9hitter for the 2-1 team
- can you focus like this guy? After 3 days and 18 elimation innings?
Leon Finney. Uncommited Soph. Will graduate in summer. Runs 6.41, has a 42 inch Vert. Can do 30 full hang pull-ups with perfect form. And.. Its starting to translate..93,94,95 is coming quick.
I got this in the mail today. Didn't expect it, not sure I deserve it. But thank you to the
@ABCA1945
for the honor.
The players won this, they carried me and taught me more than I could ever teach them. I'm indebted forever to a group of young men who stuck with a 1st yr coach
This makes me sad...
Not the actions of the player, the actions of the former player, the sexist hashtagger, who's taking something purposely out of context that he knows will gain traction with his followers who don't believe in data, Advanced Training, or fun.
In a year like this, it took far more than just good players to defend our Region 19 title. It took a dedicated administration, a clear plan and objective, families who bought in and kids who have consistently gone the extra step
We won this as a community today. Lackawanna 2021
Hey guys, I don't know who needs to hear this.. But.
You're not recruiting for your summer roster if players need to pay $2000 to play in it. You're selling your summer roster.
And guess what. The product you've got is No where in the vicinity of being worth 2k
So proud of my guys. None of this was easy and they all just saddled up and got the job done over and over again.
Now we ride West to make some noise and represent the East.
Thank you to everyone who has helped to support Falcon baseball this year. It truly took everyone.
I hired the best pitching coach in juco via a Dm'd Gif
And I just hired one of the smartest hitting guys in the country via reply to a tweet.
Maybe self promotion does have a limit, but visibility is paramount to success
Self promotion is sickening. Players and parents. I donβt know of one player who has received a scholarship offer from a tweet. Tagging schools and coaches is even more sickening. I am a true believer that in 2021 if you can play, theyβll find you. Period.
I'll be in Dallas this year, trying to focus on meeting and chatting with new folks around the country. If anyone wants to grab a (insert liquid or meal), I'm down. My numer is 6106204035.
Everyone has freshman like this right?
32ACT, 1250 SAT, 1220 SAT, 1190SAT
From MN, NJ, ID, and the 215
A 6A state title winner, a 240lb monster, a 110 xvelo from potato land, and a 2 way from MN up to 88 on the bump and 90 across diamonds
All 4.0
Youve got 4 like that right?
I firmly believe that you can win a national title at any level of collegiate baseball, if you simply can control and consolidate the talent in the state of Pennsylvania.
Delco to Scranton
Pittsburgh to Philly
That's my goal.
Used Radio and earpieces to call pitches tonight..
Good lord it's a game changer for pace of play.
& before you get all uppidy, the goal is to turn it over to the catchers at some point, and talking them through ideology and sequence is really going to accelerate that process
Alright so you didnt win your conference Tournament.
Let me help you in '25. As always, all my dudes are D1 eligible. All north of 3.5
1. Biasi LHP up to 94. 3k spin
2. Finarelli 6'4 RHP, 4 pitches for stikes. 90-93
3. D'amico - S/H SS. Defensive savant, offensive Pest
Zach Klapak, fresh off a week of the flu, showing that same uncanny feel for spin in Live ABs. Only been pitching since fall 19, been up to 94. Program kid, works hard, and carries a LOUD left handed power bat too.
Rain, 1 run game, Championship on the road. And this kid, makes this play to keep us ahead.
simply absurd. The best defensive SS in the country and i'll stake my name on it.
Hitting has to be the only action in the world where you willingly accept failing 70% of the time, and somehow people have a set of rules for when you're allowed to be successful.
As year 1 comes to a close, I'm humbled by the support of our administration and college community. The players who I had a chance to fight along side of and their families who followed us from town to town, having helped push the bar for this program even higher.
We'll be back
We aren't supposed to win
We've got the worst weather
We share fields with mineshafts
pay more for school
We come back later
We travel absurd distances
We've been cast away by others
Been supported by few (who we truly appreciate)
We are going to win anyway.
@FalconsBase
You're in the portal. The calendar keeps flipping day by day. The tweets are getting less β€οΈ, your portal brethren are RTing less. The summer games are waining.. & mom's texts are continuing to rise in anxiety level
Allow Lackawanna Baseball to be the clarity you need.
The wouldn't be possible without resilient players, committed administrators and extremely supportive parents. 100s of people share this championship with us.
Last week we became champions, today we had to beat a champion to move forward. I know we'll see Frederick again.
@Brent_Rooker12
my son doesnt know it. But throwing is the only left handed thing he does and im never ever going to admit that i only cheered when he picked up balls with that hand as an infant
Before we ran 60s today, I told this player I'd only seen 1 true 6.3..
There was a 3rd watch too that had it, but he cleared before the pic.
Anyone need a 200lb OF dude with great grades, good hair, a pleasant personality and absolute jetpacks? He's going to hit nukes too
Over the past 18 months our 12 D1 signees have received on average a 58.7% scholarship on their NLI's
So if you are a HS sr. and you are balancing 25% or walk on spots, at schools that only partially fit your needs, take a look at our program.
Use us a trampoline to your dreams
Wait.. So yall ranked like 40 D3 baseball teams, including 7 others in PA and didn't include
@KeystoneBase
?
Did they drop the program? Because last I checked, they haven't NOT been a conference champ since the First GWBush term.
Come on now.
Just a reminder
We led the country in HR's in 2020
played 7 less games than 2nd place
& never stepped foot on our home field
Over our last 66 gms, we've hit 1.3HR p/g
8 of those games (total) were @ home
We are going to come to your yard
and hit balls over your fence
I've got Dorms, I've got Dining Halls, I've got 97% effective rate on credit transferring. We've got 3 WS trips in the last 4 compete seasons. A 15th rounder in '23
And not a single one of our 30+ current D1 guys are in the portal
Maybe we know a thing or two about how to help
Congrats to So. RHP Nathan McLain on his commitment to Rutgers University and to play for Head Coach Steve Owens.
The big guy has done nothing but work since he landed here last fall and he continues to improve. Now he's going to pitch in the Big10, congratulations Nate.
Shhh.. Don't tell anyone...
But the dude
@JakeKelchner
is back.
88-91 tonight. Taking it "easy". With a 4 pitch mix.
Trust me when I say there's noone you want on your side more than this one.
1st* in the Country in HR's, with 7 less games behind the runner up.
we never played a home game, never played within 100miles of home
there was something special brewing in Falcon Land.
Ive got guys who can help your rosters and if you dont want them, i'll gladly run it back
Come to Lack
We've got dawgs
We've got innings
We've got the trophies for proof of concept
Find a human that played here since 2019. I'll give you their number and with full confidence, they'll have good things to say.
There's 22 d1 games you can watch on demand from yesterday if you are an ESPN subscriber.
If you desire to play at that level, educate your eyeballs.
Google players while you watch
"oh, the down 7 arm at X school was a top 300 dude in 2018, but the SP was unranked in HS" hmm
Some of the tweets where kids tag like 15 coaches is one of my favorite things to try to figure out how they picked who to tag. Some of them are wild, like D3, Juco, club teams, SEC, NAIA and like Flatground, all together. It's amazing
Wins are just an outcome. The processes are the prize.
This isn't remotely possible w/o the best athletic department, an absurdly dedicated cast of assistant coaches and all the players and families who entrusted me with their son's most finite resources, Time and Opportunity
Congratulations to
@falconsbase
coach Mike McCarry, who won his 100th career game with the Falcons this past weekend in just his 5th year!
The Falcons have made 2 NJCAA DII World Series and have won 2
@njcaaregionxix
titles under McCarry.
#gofalcons
Just ate at a chipotle for the first time since mid-season.
Whew, they finna lose a lot of Juco business at these prices.
Might be off the meal list in 2024, and that's a shame.
I don't think you realize that consistenly yelling in Capital letters at kids about what you perceive their ignorance to be comes off like a parody account when they Google that you went 7-40 last year
Maybe chill with the banging on the pulpit for a sec and stack some Ws
Seeing alot of kids wanting to transfer after being released this fall.
FYI------
NAIA BASEBALL IS NOT A STEPPING STONE TO GET BACK TO NCAA SPORTS.
I REPEAT.
NAIA BASEBALL IS NOT A STEPPING STONE TO GET BACK TO NCAA BASEBALL.
WE GIVE DEGREES ALSO.
#MoreThanBaseball
2 commits today.
I'll bet anyone that both throw 94+ by the time we are done with them.
Because present command + projectable frame +
@drjoshheenan
individualized programming = healthy falcon fireballers...everytime
I need an assistant for the 2022-2023
A RH fungo/BP guy would be super helpful
I'll help you learn whatever side of this game/business that you desire. Just be ready to serve the players

Lackawanna Baseball is looking for an Offensive Coach to join the staff.
Position includes a small stipend, freedom, a chance to coach a national title contending roster & possible housing.
It wont be easy, but the last 6 assistants that left with FT jobs, 5 with MLB clubs.
Max Day
Including a 605 DL
8 others +500DL
A 425 Rev Lunge
11 others 315+
Some clean chin up with 37 dudes averaging 13.5 a piece
With 9 guys 20+
Now we send them home, plan in hand, with 7 weeks to grow autonomously
And that's OK, they know what their teammates expect.
This is Matt.
He's a SS who will field 985
He'll hit 370-400 and walk more than he K's
He will pitch as a mid to upper 80's strike machine with silly sink.
He's a 3.4 gpa
He's uncommitted.
I just want everyone to remember how excited you were to sign the kids today that a year from now you are going to perform a multi layer seal team 6 phych Op on to push him off the roster and free up the cash you were so excited to be giving him now.
There are many benefits to playing sports, but having "fun" is among the least important to me.
Way more meaningful is how sports expose us to challenges & failure.
Learning to tackle these builds resilience & grit that carries over into life after sports.
4/
When I tell recruits and coaches that Lackawanna can help you get anywhere in the world, I mean it. The caveat is, you have to be willing to go above and beyond, the school simply provides the best template.
Bryce did this for our players and I can't wait to follow his career.
Excited to announce Iβll be joining the
@Mets
as a Player Development Associate. Ready to get going with one of the most exciting organizations in the league.
Want to thank
@CoachMcCarry
for the opportunity at Lackawanna and canβt wait to follow them on the road to Oklahoma.
Professionally, I was at my lowest and this man gave me a chance and taught me the game in a different manner than Id ever experienced before. Wherever I go, I'm forever indebted to JC.
camp idea for '23s
HS position players, get instruction from my players, then play a sim game...facing Lackawanna Pitchers
We do the inverse in the afternoon. (Hs p's vs Lack pos players)
Coaches can eval you / you can evaluate yourself in a better context
Whatcha think?
Get out there and long toss, I don't care which implement. Pick up a football, softball, baseball and work to fire it as far as you can. You're not "saving bullets" by sitting around, you're simply deciding not to make them.
Better have enough when its time to step on the mound
We averaged 441 lbs per player in 1rm DL max (straight bar)
7 dudes 500+ Top 525 x2
17 players 450+
As a squad we pull 2.3x + our body weight
They also averaged 41 consecutive push-ups a piece.
Noone wins a championship in the fall, but you can earn the right to play for one
Recently lost a hire.
On the hunt for an assistant again
Stipend, maybe housing, freedom
3WS trips in 4 years. Last 8 dudes all landed FT gigs. (6 in milb)

Maybe I'm a baseball coach.
Or maybe I'm just a dude who likes hanging trophies on the wall
2 down. 1 to go.
To Enid we head in the morning.
I don't care where we play, the best version of ourselves will win more than we lose.
