The other agents and I carried the casket up the stairs to Air Force One as Mrs. K watched. We got to the door, and it was too wide to fit through the door...we had to rip the handles off to make it fit.

I have no info re:what the @SecretService pays for hotel rooms these days, but when I used to go to Palm Beach with #JFK and Mrs.Kennedy, all the agents stayed at Woody’s Motel. We paid for the rooms out of our $12 per diem which also had to cover meals & laundry. #PresidentsDay
