Our deepest condolences to the families of our fallen members 45-year-old Lawrence Robert Costello and 43-year-old Sara Mae Helen Burns and the other victims in this morning's shootings.
Of the four people killed in this morning's shootings on Brookside Drive, two were Fredericton Police officers. No names are being released at this time. Please appreciate this is a difficult time for their families and our colleagues. We will provide more info when we can.
Over the next few days, you may see police officers from other agencies working in our city. They are here to help police our community during this difficult time. We cannot thank them enough for their support.
UDPATE: At this time we can confirm that we have one suspect in custody.
Police continue to have the Brookside area contained for the foreseeable future as the investigation is ongoing.
Please continue to avoid the area and follow us for the facts.
We can confirm that there is no further threat to the public, and lockdowns are not required at this time.
Police still have the crime scene contained, and will be working the investigation for some time. Thank you for your patience.

It was particularly moving for our members, as the names of two of our own - Cst. Costello and Cst. Burns were added to the memorial.

were able to reopen Queen St between the Cenotaph and St. John Street to vehicle traffic overnight.
Police had implemented road closures over the weekend, and all roads have been re-opened.
Today, Police Service Dog Brutus and Cst. Yerxa is training with a number of other K-9 teams here in Fredericton, so you may see them out and about & possibly in your neighbourhood.
They train to stay on top of their game in case we need them for an investigation.
Police officers are currently at an ongoing incident in the area of Hawkins St/Royal Road. We are asking the public to avoid the area while the police work. We will update when we can.
On October 23, 2020, the body of 55-year old Richard “RM” Vaughan was located. He was reported missing on October 13, 2020.
At this time we are not treating the death as suspicious.
Mr. Vaughan’s family & police want to thank the public their assistance with this investigation.

This morning around 10am, one of our Patrol officers intercepted a vehicle travelling 159 km/hr in a 90km/hr zone on the Vanier Highway. The driver was issued a speeding ticket under the MVA = $604.50. Please slow down and abide by the posted speed limits. It saves lives.
