Too many OT prospects lunge with their initial punch, giving the DE an easy win with a counter. Conerly makes sure to stay balanced while still throwing his outside hand with a ton of power.

I’m going to go on a limb and say that the Washington OTs are 1a and 1b for most pro ready pass sets. The diversity of pass sets, initial punches, and hand-fighting looks like a NFL veteran.

Not many OTs in this class have the power in there hands to kill the rush before it starts. Then he follows it up with a snatch that almost gets the DE to the ground.

The cause of every successful inside counter is a poor pass set. Wyatt doesn’t push and catch in his angled set. Instead, he pulls with his back foot, causing him to completely lose his base and take too long to transition from kick to power.

RT Ajani Cornelius

When Ajani finally decides to use his outside for more than just faints, he becomes a different player. He has all the tools and flashes to be a great player, but needs to trust himself vs great DEs to take that step up.

His flashes are dominant in the Gap run game. Sends the DL over the top then climbs to the LB and gives him a solid shot. Not the most polished footwork, but his aggressiveness still let him dominate.

Pt.2
The first OT I’ve seen in the 2025 class that has a true go-to initial shot. His footwork isn’t great, but Jonah has a true weapon in his bag with that outside hand. It has the power, accuracy, and speed to give him the upper hand.

A prime example why OTs should always use the gallop against 3Ts on the playside of Gap.

2. Not square to LB, letting LB win overtop

RB
@TyroneTracy
#3
Don’t let his age give you tunnel vision. Less than 150 carries into his transition to RB and his elusiveness shines constantly. His footwork and vision will get refined as he gets more experience, but his natural twitch and receiving ability is unteachable.
I don’t want to put a shadow on the light Will Campbell has gotten, but you can’t get 2-gapped by a 265lb DL. His poor pad level is a direct result of him standing up in his stance. I’m hoping and expecting it to get fixed this season.

LT Will Campbell

Something I’ve realized is that more and more OT prospects are unable to stay square on the third kick. So many of them drop their hips as they go into the 3rd kick which lets the DE collapse the outside shoulder w/o any difficulty.
RT Emery Jones Jr
#50
This is how you help your OG on the playside of zone. Emery is patient before climbing which lets him send big Desmond Watson back over the top. Then he climbs to the backer and takes him out of the play. A NFL play for an underclass RT.

I guarantee that this DE had a hand-sized bruise on his ribs after this game. The inside hand will give Riley a baseline in the NFL that many rookie OTs don’t have.

A consistent flaw for many big OTs is a lack of foot drive. Riley fires his 2nd foot, but doesn’t run through the block which lets the DL stack and shed over the top of the downblock.

I don’t think I’ve ever seen an OT do a full karaoke step in his pass set. Something I can’t stop asking is why is Trey so slow into his pass set from a 3 pt. stance? Also, why are you making your OTs go into a 3 pt stance when you’re down 12 with 12:29 to go?!?

In-game learning on back to back plays. Drops his hips on the first rep, giving the DE the leverage on the spin. Then he stays back slightly better and powers down to mirror the spin. Play to play improvement from an under the radar OT.
