Probably my most amazing find while on holiday this month was visiting the Upper Glendevon Reservoir in Perth and Kinross. The water level is so low that the old shepards house at the bottom of the loch, originally submerged in the 1950s, has now appeared again!

Months ago I found this old Popular Mechanics magazine from the 1970s all about a wild & wacky flying camper being marketed by Winnebago. After a lot of research I managed to track down the creator of these strange 'Helihomes' and tell their story:

The 'TET-1000' was a bizarre Soviet turboelectric tractor designed for work in marshes and heavy mud. Front & rear mounted caterpillar tracks could be folded away for road travel and then deployed for when off road, with the drivers cab rotating 90 degrees for operation.

Forget if I shared this already- spotted a Trafalgar-class RN nuclear fleet sub training in the inner sound late last year. RIBs circled & followed the sub at periscope depth, lining up above her. She would then surface, with the boats stranded on her back like a mothership!

I get literally hundreds of comments a month (presumably from Americans) about my pronunciation of buoy as "boy" and not "boo-ee". However, every time I reply that the pronunciation comes from the word BUOYant, they get weirdly quiet and never reply... 🤔

Sitting behind my house is an unusual ’S-shape’ souterrain, cut directly into Jurrassic shale. It probably dates from the Iron Age and its purpose, like many of the souterrains or ‘earth houses’ found around the Highlands, is not entirely known.(1/6)

George Rainy (1790-1863) received £50k (£6.1 mil today) in compensation due to emancipation of slaves and purchased Raasay in 1845. He then instigated a forceful clearance of islanders off the land. Dozens of these abandoned communities can still be found around Raasay.

I’m a bit old school so it’s all 100% pen on paper! The original drawing is an A3 (16.5 x 11.7 inch) drawing done using a mixture of 0.03/0.05mm @uniball_uk fine liners! I sketch out very roughly in pencil then go straight in with the pens! 🖊

Sort of obsessed with this old Glasgow ferry. "Built in 1890(!) The Finnieston was a double-ended "elevating deck ferry" that could be raised or lowered by steam winches. The service was discontinued in 1966." Source:

My love for unusual vehicles was definitely kick-started by Jacques Cousteau's amazing exploration vessel the Calypso. A wonderful, unique ship with so much history. I recently made a documentary about her and it's almost crossed a half a million views! 🤯
