Are you (or is someone you know) teaching AI / ML / Deep Learning this year? My forthcoming book (freely available at ) will save you a lot of time. This thread will show you why.
Don't forget, TODAY (May 15) at 11:00am EST is Gilbert Strang's LAST lecture. Check out the live stream!
HUGE thank you Prof. Strang, your books, lectures and enthusiasm to education in all facets have been hugely influential to me and so many others.
Gem of a

book by
@francoisfleuret
, GREAT visuals!
Walking around campus today reading this end-to-end, some may have mistaken me in partaking in a religious exercise 🤓
I wrote a tutorial on diffusion models for undergrad and grad students. I tried my best to give intuitive explanations for complicated equations.
Your feedback is much appreciated
Thanks to those who suggested various reading materials to me
To break up the monotony of
#ECCV2020
accepted papers (congrats to all btw), we had two papers rejected. YES, rejection is part of the research process, learn to deal with it.

Maybe it’s time to revisit the standard undergrad
#ComputerScience
curriculum and it’s relationship to
#math
. I’m advocating for more math (rather than the trend to less) but a more integrated delivery with CS.
I’m currently checking out this book. Includes SVD

Often we take our image datasets for granted. There’s value in actually looking at the pixels. Check out:

Paper:
Our computer vision textbook is released!
Foundations of Computer Vision
with Antonio Torralba and Bill Freeman
It’s been in the works for >10 years. Covers everything from linear filters and camera optics to diffusion models and radiance fields.

Going to miss the holiday luxury of binge reading & just plain learning 😢 Need to carve out more me time.
Cool paper alert: “Diffusion models as plug-and-play priors”,
Alexandros Graikos (

), Nikolay Malkin, Nebojsa Jojic, Dimitris Samaras
Playing around with the

iOS app.
For someone who has been in
#computervision
for many years (and for those that are new too), the progress in 3D computer vision is mind boggling!

: Given its immense utility, I wish SVD was a standard topic in intro linear algebra courses for
#ComputerScience
students.

After almost a decade at
@RyersonU
CS, June 30 will be my last day. HUGE thank you to all my students for embracing me! It has been an honour being your instructor/mentor/supervisor. I am also grateful to my close colleagues for their mentorship & encouragement along the way.
Are you confused and frustrated by the diverse presentations of diffusion models in papers? Check out this wonderful blog by
@sedielem
that presents an overview of the many perspectives on diffusion.

Happy to share I will be an Area Chair for
#ICCV2021
scheduled 🤞 to be hosted in
#Montreal
,
#Canada
🇨🇦 (my home country)! This will be my first time serving as an AC for ICCV.
