The Public Affairs Unit is responsible for the Colorado State Patrol's media and public relations efforts and serves as official spokesperson for the agency.
Following
@GovofCO
's recommendation, State Troopers will begin wearing masks while continuing to serve the public. We wear a mask to protect you and you wear a mask to protect us. This one is even donut scented to keep us energized! 🤤🍩🤤

Our hearts are heavy with the loss of the Boulder Police Officer that was killed while responding to save others in the shooting that occurred today. Please keep their family, department, the families of the other victims, and the community in your thoughts and prayers.
A grateful mother called us. Her 17yo daughter broke down on EB I70 in traffic. Trooper Furman pushed her to the shoulder. Moments later a semi raced through her lane where she had been, hitting cars & exploding into flames. She escaped injury. Small deeds can have big results
With overwhelming sadness we can confirm that a Trooper with the Colorado State Patrol was struck and killed in the line of duty tonight. We ask you keep their family, our CSP family, first responders on scene, and all others affected in your thoughts and prayers.
So, this aged well.
But to answer your question,
@NEStatePatrol
: yes, we did see several. And now they’re all eastbound with their tails tucked.

If you're in the left lane and not passing or you're being passed on the right you are DOING IT WRONG. Also: the green guy is following too close. Don't be that guy either.
#ProperDrivingEtiquette
Sometimes, this job is more than just helping humans. “Mom and Dad” were in a crash (thankfully non-injury) and these guys needed a ride down to the tow yard, to be reunited with their family.

Not every hero wears a cape. Some have a lot of orange though. Thank you to
@ColoradoDOT
for their heroic efforts around the clock for days to help keep our roadways as clear and safe as possible. 👏👏
We recommend not driving today if possible. And while we can’t force you to stay home, we can entice it: imagine a nice, warm, three day weekend that starts with extra blankets, a warm beverage, and uninterrupted tv binging. You can’t get that on the side of the road.

THIS is the public servant critically hurt serving his community. The story should always be about him, the prayers for him, the support for his agency and his family, both blood and blue. Stay strong, Officer Duzel. You are needed.

Employers: please keep watch on the incoming snow and consider releasing your people early today, before it hits hard during the evening commute.

WAY TO GO: A witness just sent me this video of civilians helping firefighters get a hose over a fence and to the highway to help with the disaster on I-70 today. 👍

Brendan Bialy. Kendrick Castillo. Josh Jones. These are the names to remember. These are heroes. These are the ones that show us what

really means.
Ok, Peyton, we will make you a deal: if you go meet Jackson, we will drive you and even let you turn on the lights to our car.

10-year old Jackson Frank of Parker is battling a cancer called Desmoplastic Small Round Cell Tumor. His only wish right now is to meet Peyton Manning. Don't know if we can make that happen but we can try. Facebook page --

Thank you to those having Thanksgiving dinner in patrol cars, fire engines, dispatch consoles, ambulance bays, and other locations away from their families to serve us all.

To every mother and mother figure out there: thanks for raising us, teaching us, scaring us a little, and helping us succeed. Mom = hero.

Sgt. Dan Gilmore just got star number *7* on his sleeve. Stationed in Troop 2C/Lamar, Sgt. Gilmore was hired Jan. 5, 1987. Help us congratulate him on this special anniversary!
He didn’t think anyone was watching or would know it was him, but this trooper was caught clearing the crosswalk at a nearby elementary school.

With the impending snow storm, make sure you complete any grocery shopping or things that you would hold off until the morning, such as filling up your vehicle with fuel. Watch your weather app for any changes, and for road conditions and closures.
Hey Trooper Lewis, did you hear
@kelly_clarkson
is coming to Colorado?
(High pitches squealing) “Really?! One free ‘get out of jail’ card to whomever gets me backstage to meet her!”*

Did you know that you can use mild soap or dish detergent to break down the fatty layer that holds the COVID-19 virus together? Even if you don't have disinfectant wipes, make sure you clean your car too.

Our deepest condolences go out to the Commerce City Police Department and the families of both the officer and other victim in this crash.
We are seeking information from any witnesses to the crash. Please call 303-239-4501 if you have any information about this crash.
"A dedicated [CSP sergeant] who helped reunite a kidnapped child with her family, bought tires for a stranded motorist, adopted five children and fostered another 39 turned in his badge Tuesday after nearly 24 years of service."

It's okay to not be okay.
It's okay to talk to someone.
It's okay to get help.
It's okay to reach out.
Today is
#WorldSuicidePreventionDay
but we should talk about this every day. If you or someone needs help: 800-662-HELP(4357) or text: 741741. Please RT to share this info.
Ok, we will just say it: tomorrow is going to be miserable. If you can work from home, do so. If you can avoid going out, do so. If you can stay off the road, do so. We will be out, but frankly: we'd rather not see you.
In honor of Corporal Dan Groves we have a patrol car outside at our Greeley office. If you would like to leave a memento on it, the car will be available until the funeral.
We can't say this enough, we are not conducting COVID-19 checkpoints or traffic stops. Please watch this brief video about police impersonators and things to look for.
The more people on the road, the higher likelihood of crashes happening today. We are giving you complete permission*, 100% guaranteed*, no questions asked* to STAY HOME TODAY.
(*we can’t actually guarantee anything or give real permission...but we HIGHLY RECOMMEND it!)
We can tell you what they provide right now: flat views of corn fields 100 miles in each direction, and several highways that exit Kansas into Colorado (where you really want to be).
While protecting another crash scene, one of our vehicles was struck on I70 near mile marker 213 this morning at about 9:00 AM. The trooper inside sustained minor injuries. This has to stop. Slow down. Move over. Save lives.
Move Over, Slow Down, Drop the Distraction and SAVE A LIFE!
If you can't move over, you must slow down by 20 MPH if the speed limit is 45 MPH or more.
If the speed limit is 40 MPH or less, slow down to 25 MPH or less.
Together we all go home safe.
The rules of winter and snow driving haven't changed since the last time it hit the ground: slow down! Be patient! Give yourself extra room! We got this!
We strongly encourage employers to consider either fully cancelling work today, or at least allow employees a half day and to go home by noon. The fewer cars on the road during bad weather, the better.
#snow
Employers: please consider if you actually NEED to be open today and tomorrow. Consider closing, opening late/closing early to allow employees better/staggered travel times, and above all: the safety of your people over profits.
Be it a patrol car, dispatch center, firehouse, ambulance, ER/hospital, or countless others that work to keep the holidays bright: we salute you and thank you for your selfless service today.
#Thanksgiving
Bad weather is inevitable, so let's do our best to keep ourselves -and others- as safe as possible. A little courtesy (and some reduced speeds) can go a long way.
#cowx
The shape of the badge and color of the uniform make no difference: we are thankful for, and proud to be, the women and men that serve and protect daily.
Still confused about the new bicycle safety stop law? Cyclists are allowed to treat stop lights as stop signs, and stop signs as yield signs. Drivers should be aware of these changes, and EVERYONE should work together to keep our roadways safe!
Since losing Cpl. Dan Groves, we have received numerous pictures, graphics, and tributes. We wanted to share a few with you and let the senders and artists know we deeply appreciate your work and acknowledgment of our fallen hero.
This picture of over 60 police, fire, EMS, and other public service vehicles is making the rounds to remind people to
#MoveOver
. Our families want us to come home at the end of shift, too.
We give thanks to those willing to have their
#Thanksgiving
meals in patrol cars, fire houses, ambulance bays, ER desks, dispatch consoles, and so many other places in order to serve EVERY day.
As wildfires continue to rage and ravage our state, we express our gratitude to the heroic efforts of firefighters everywhere working tirelessly for us all. THANK YOU, FIREFIGHTERS!
And yet again, we shall arise, and place ourselves between the order and chaos. Though our hearts be broken, our heads are high, and our determination...unwavering.
We want to thank our communities for working hard to help save lives during this trying time. Please don't stop now and continue to do your part!
#SaferAtHome
It doesn't quite work when a Motor Officer tries to work from home... We are still out working, along with other essential employees. Please limit your trips to those that are necessary and stay safe by obeying the speed limits.
