Hojbjerg pretty pivotal at the end. Made the goal-saving block to deny Barnes, played the pass to Doherty for the equaliser, then the ball to Kane before his assist for the winner.

In the worst top-four race ever that no one wants to win, both
#THFC
and Arsenal with more points than the average for fourth in the previous three seasons.
The initial celebration is so 'I'm not celebrating against my former club' I had to check he'd never played for QPR (he hasn't, even though it feels very right)
The irony is that on one of the occasions a team genuinely did have a Covid outbreak that legitimately meant that the game had to be postponed, it led to
#THFC
having to forfeit and go out of Europe!
Don't think it can be overstated what a physical and mental beast Andy Murray is. Just nine months ago, he was done, finished, thanks for the memories. He was given a retirement video for crying out loud! Now he's in an ATP final. The guy is a complete one-off.
Ange on growing up a Liverpool fan:
I used to have Liverpool posters, yeah. But things change. I used to watch Happy Days too, I don’t have posters of the Fonz anymore either.
Strip away any Mourinho prejudice and the rage of losing in those circumstances, and I struggle to see how that was anything other than a really encouraging performance. Were the better side in 2nd half and created three really good chances to beat Liverpool at Anfield.

As reported by
@garyjacob
,
#THFC
have agreed a deal with Brighton in region of £25 million for Yves Bissouma. Medical expected this week.
As I've said many times before I think Bissouma, 25, is an outstanding player, and this looks like a brilliant signing.
Just to recap, Uefa has chosen EL final venue that:
- Has an 'appalling' human rights record
- Can't cope with large numbers
- Has minimal/no direct flights from major Euro cities
- Can't guarantee safety of one of the players
- Means match could finish close to 2am local time
Conte: "I'm happy for Richy. He deserved to have a night like this. I remember when we signed him he said he couldn't wait to hear the CL music. I said to him this morning remember what you said. Tonight you have the chance, enjoy it, you deserve it."
FT: 1-4. One of the weirdest games of football I've ever seen. A moral victory for Spurs despite losing 4-1 at home, having two players sent off, and losing two to injury.
Disastrous in so many ways, and yet the Spurs fans are understandably in full voice applauding their team.
5 goals conceded in their final 11 games a massive reason
#THFC
are in the top four. Amazing given how much criticism the Spurs defence has taken over the last few years.
Per
@FabrizioRomano
and
@DiMarzio
, understand Atalanta goalkeeper Pierluigi Gollini is heading to
#THFC
, initially on loan.
As for Lloris, as we reported last week he'll discuss future with Spurs when back from holiday in coming weeks, but expectation is he'll stay this season
The main difference between what Postecoglou said about VAR compared to most managers is you get the sense he actually cares about what it's doing to the game rather than his team in that moment.
Spurs could have two January signings making their debut on Sunday. That would be as many January signings making their spurs debuts in January as in the previous 12 years.
Kane feeling unwell, not 100% and will be assessed ahead of
#THFC
’s trip to Norwich.
No other players feeling unwell and no suggestion of food poisoning outbreak.
Hard to spot many differences between Spurs’ performance and approach here from what you’d expect from a team battling relegation. Let’s dig in, try not to get battered, and who knows maybe nick something on the break.
Few things sweeter in football than a win snatched from the jaws of defeat. Throw in the fact it happened so late in stoppage time because of persistent time-wasting and, well...
The framing of the Richarlison ball-juggling thing is so weird. People talking as if getting clattered was a bad outcome for him. He'll sure have learned his lesson now!
He won his team a FK as they defended a 2-0 lead + got an opponent booked. It was precisely what he wanted!
Think that's the proudest Postecoglou has been after any game this season. The character the team showed despite the adversity of the injuries and sickness bug clearly meant a huge amount to him.
And just when I thought I couldn't admire Ange any more...
𝑆ℎ𝑜𝑢𝑙𝑑 𝐼 𝑝𝑢𝑡 𝑀𝑎𝑑𝑑𝑖𝑠𝑜𝑛 𝑖𝑛 𝑚𝑦 𝐹𝑎𝑛𝑡𝑎𝑠𝑦 𝑡𝑒𝑎𝑚 𝑓𝑜𝑟 𝑡𝑜𝑚𝑜𝑟𝑟𝑜𝑤?
𝑀𝑎𝑡𝑒, 𝑦𝑜𝑢 𝑐𝑎𝑛 𝑑𝑜 𝑤ℎ𝑎𝑡𝑒𝑣𝑒𝑟 𝑦𝑜𝑢 𝑙𝑖𝑘𝑒. 𝐼𝑡'𝑠 𝑜𝑓 𝑧𝑒𝑟𝑜 𝑖𝑛𝑡𝑒𝑟𝑒𝑠𝑡 𝑡𝑜 𝑚𝑒.
A german reporter has brought a Bayern shirt with 'Kane 9' on the back and showed it to Postecoglou during the press conference.
Fair to say he was not impressed. "You flew all the way for that... got yourself a laugh."
It's three years to the day since
#THFC
signed Tanguy Ndombele.
My long read on why this could be the moment he turns it all arou.. no, I can't do it. Not this time.
Kane's display v City was surely one of the best by any individual in PL history
But his ambition will only be satisfied if
#THFC
are back in CL + fighting for trophies. Now it's up to him, team-mates + Conte to ensure Spurs are doing just that come May
Big win for Spurs. Means the two main priorities for the window are ticked off. Had they been pipped things would have felt v different.
Exciting signing - lots of upside, a few things to work on, but suddenly with his arrival and Davies' performances, Spurs have four v good CBs
🚨 Tottenham reach total agreement with Genoa to sign centre-back Radu Dragusin.
#THFC
had offer accepted overnight. 21yo Romania international expected to travel this morning to complete move. Djed Spence joining
#Genoa
on loan until summer
@TheAthleticFC
This Klopp thing is football's entitlement reaching its natural endpoint. It's why VAR came in, we saw it during COVID when teams started getting games called off for very little reason, and now this.
Kane leaving is seismic for Spurs, no getting away from that.
Thank goodness for them though that they at least have a head coach who will embrace the challenge of the rebuild. Can only imagine how toxic things would have been if this had happened a year or so ago.
He should be asked about Saudi issues every presser. Make it difficult for him. Make future managers think, 'Would I really want to have to engage with this every single week?'
As it is, there's zero deterrent (assuming no one will have a conscience about this sort of thing).
Eddie Howe on Saudi Arabia friendlies at St James' Park:
"I haven’t really given it too much thought because of my schedule. I found out like you guys did in the media, and I very quickly moved on to Manchester City."
On Bergwijn, understand that fee of €25m (£21.5m) has been agreed but final details are being sorted.
Expectation is that deal will go through on or after July 1 and that
#THFC
are hoping to bring in another forward before they sell Bergwijn.
#THFC
have accepted a season-long loan offer for Japhet Tanganga from Galatasaray.
He's not in rush to make a decision though and still wants to be at Spurs this season. If it looks like insufficient game time this season then a loan becomes more likely
The more I discover about Ange Postecoglou the more I think it’ll be a really interesting appointment.
Could go brilliantly, could go terribly. But Mourinho and Conte supposedly meant guaranteed success and look how those worked out.
Excited to see how it pans out.
Eric Dier has been one of
#THFC
's best players this season, and under Conte his role is evolving and he's getting better and better.
Took a look at the way his Alderweireld-esque passing kept Liverpool pinned back on Sunday:
Mourinho says "He has the feeling that some of the
#THFC
players have the feeling that they shouldn't be here." Then cites Son and PEH as examples of guys who are first-choice players but don't think they're above it.
In 35 PL games this season Dier has 16 clean sheets - joint most with Lloris of any player outside of Liverpool and City. In 3 matches he missed, Spurs conceded 7 goals.
More recently,
#THFC
conceded 5 goals in final 11 matches, and 2 in their last 6.
Also a great character. 🤷♂️
Davinson Sanchez didn’t deserve the pretty awful treatment he got yesterday - he’s another piece of collateral damage at a club that’s hurting and desperately trying to make sense of how it’s come to this.
Romero feeling good after hamstring injury and pushing for a return against United on Sunday. Would be big boost for Spurs and speedy recovery after initial expectation he'd be back late Jan
Romero, VdV + Dragusin could all be in Sunday's squad
Story ⬇️
Arsenal far Spursier than
#THFC
over the last decade. Since holding their nerve to pip Spurs to fourth in 12/13 they've collapsed spectacularly in every tight race they've been in (for top four in 16/17, 18/19 and now, and title in 15/16). Could add title race in 13/14 as well.
Spurs have put in worse performances this season - Fulham, Newcastle - but this feels like their lowest point.
No mitigating circumstances, against a massive rival missing 14 players, and probably the last chance to stay in the top-four race.
No fight, outplayed, Ange furious.
🎙 “We will fight to achieve our targets. We are prepared to fight until the end of the season. Everyone has to be focused on the last part of the season”
An update from Fabio Paratici
Mourinho says in his TV interview that: "I told him (Klopp) the best team lost."
Then adds: "If I behave the same way as he does on the touchline, no chance I stay on the bench."
#THFC
#LIVTOT
Tottenham closing in on James Maddison deal. They remain in talks with Leicester but are heavy favourites to secure his signature, and agreement could be reached this week. Personal terms not thought to be an issue - Spurs offering v good package
Could we finally be seeing the
#THFC
Victor Moses moment? Conte on Moura: “I spoke with Lucas and I think that this will be a good option for me + in the past I converted Perisic in that position. Moses was the same. Candreva was the same. Before a winger and then become a w-b.”
