Undershepherd of Christ whom I love, trust, follow, and preach as a husband, dad, and pastor making disciples of the nations for God's glory, not my own.
The church doesn't need another cool, self-promoting, self-obsessed opportunistic entertainer, we need humble servant-shepherds who have died to self, who are willing to be disliked for preaching the truth, and who preach the Word no matter the cost.
Don't believe everything you feel. Our emotions are the greatest liars we know.
Preach the truth to your emotions and the truth will begin to change your emotions by the power of the Spirit.
Those who say "If you become a Christian, all your troubles will be over" have no clue what true Christianity is.
It’s only when we become Christians that the real war begins.
When someone asks if you believe you’re going to heaven, saying “I hope so,” isn’t humble, it’s arrogantly believing that it’s resting on your works. And if you respond, “Yes, I’m certain,” isn’t arrogance, it’s assurance—based on the works of Jesus Christ.
Men, leading your family means leading in singing. Sing like you mean it, and stop using the excuse that people don't want to hear you sing.
If you can cheer passionately for your team, you can most certainly sing to your Savior.
Some pastors believe that we should avoid delving too deeply into theology for fear that it might drive people away.
However, the deeper we go in our study of theology, the deeper we go in our knowledge of God, awe of God, love of God, humility before God, and worship of God.
In heaven, I don't know if all our questions will be answered, but it seems to me that once we see Jesus face to face, we won't feel the need to ask many questions.
Once we get to heaven, I don't know if all our questions will be answered, but it seems to me that once we see Jesus we won't feel the need to ask many questions.
It's true, Jesus was a friend of sinners, and becase he was a true friend, he called those friends to repent and believe that they might have hope, peace, and life in him.
When someone asks if you’re going to heaven, saying “I hope so” isn’t humble, it’s arrogantly believing that your salvation is resting on your works.
But if you respond, “Yes, I’m certain,” isn’t arrogance, it’s humble assurance because you’re resting on the works of Christ.
Just because there's a church on every corner doesn't mean the gospel is preached on every corner.
Just because a man talks about Jesus doesn't mean he's preaching Christ and him crucified.
Just because a man uses a Bible in a sermon doesn't mean he's preaching the word.
Dear Christian, Satan hates you and is trying to destroy you. He's not afraid of you, but he's scared to death of the one within you. So when he tempts and prowls, point him not to your own strength but the one whose power is made perfect in your weakness.
Pastors, our ultimate aim isn't the conference circuit, but the counseling room, the hospital bed, the graveside, the local church, being faithful in the daily little things, the ordinary life of a servant.
Because God is holy he requires propitiation for his wrath against us for our sin against him, and because God is love he propitiated his wrath against us in Jesus Christ who took our sin and nailed it to the cross.

But saying “Yes I’m certain” isn't arrogant, it’s humble assurance—believing your salvation is resting on Christ's works.

Theology is not simply the pursuit of knowledge about God, it's the pursuit of God himself. The more we know about God the more we know God and the more we’re able to worship and glorify God as God.
There are two types of preachers. Those who say:
Look at me.
or
Look at Him.
And usually everything else in the worship service and in the church follows suit.
If we were God, we wouldn't save adulterer-murders like David, religious terrorists like Paul, doubters like Thomas, deniers like Peter, or wretched sinners like you and me.
Grace doesn't free us to sin.
Grace makes us despise our sin.
Grace frees us to obey, and, when we sin, grace frees us to repent as we, by grace, rest in the perfect obedience of Christ.

People claim they want to see revival in their churches and in their nations, but they complain if their pastor goes a little too long or preaches the gospel too often.
