Nice arrest by Brighton Police 1st Platoon Officers. We took 2 juveniles (17 years old) into custody for damaging 2 vehicles and attempting to steal one of them. This occurred at 2:30am on today’s date in the area of Lilac Dr.

First platoon Officers arrested three 15-year-old juveniles last evening. The juveniles drove a stolen car to a Linden Avenue address and were attempting to steal another vehicle when officers interrupted them. (1 of 2)
10-year and 15-years + completed. Both Officers Barth & Ruffalo received their certificates today. They both serve the community with pride.

The Brighton Police Department hosted the team from Guiding Eyes for the Blind. They work to train future seeing dogs, and today was a lesson in law enforcement interactions. They all passed with flying colors.
Congratulations Brighton Police Officer Shawn Houseman on your retirement. Today is Shawn's last day of work after serving 25 plus years in law enforcement, just over 15 with the Town of Brighton. Enjoy retirement and thank you for your dedicated service to our community.

The day shift arrested an 18-year-old city resident who entered a home through a window, stealing car keys and then the victim's car. He is in custody pending arraignment.
Christopher Avila, 31, of Farmington, was taken into custody on a Warrant of Arrest for Disruption or Disturbance of Religious Service, a class A Misdemeanor. Avila was arraigned and released.
The Brighton Police Department were assisted by the NYS Police.
One juvenile was transported to the Juvenile Detention Center. The other two juveniles were issued expedited appearance tickets to appear in Family Court this morning.

Brighton Police assisted MCC Public Safety this afternoon with a report that someone was in possession of a firearm while on campus. We arrested Giovanni E. Paige-Mota, 21 yrs old of Rochester. He was charged with Criminal Possession Weapon 2nd
and committed to jail.
Tomorrow is the start of the NYS distracted driver education & enforcement campaign. BPD will be participating in this effort to make our roadways safer for all. Please do your part by watching out for pedestrians, bicyclists, & not texting while driving. Thank you for your help.

Guiding Eyes came to BPD today to help seeing eye dogs in training get used to interacting with law enforcement. Thanks to the efforts of these volunteers the dogs are well on their way to helping those in need.

Allens Creek Road is now open to traffic. Thank you for your patience during this delay. Thank you to BVA, BFD, and RGE for your efforts to keep the delay as short as possible.
A section of S. Winton Road was temporarily shut down today due to a 400 yard long brush fire. Thanks to the actions of the BFD the fire was put out quickly.
Please avoid Allens Creek Road between Monroe Ave and Clover Street. A vehicle crashed into a pole and flipped over. The driver was not injured. The road will remain closed until the vehicle can be removed and RGE and secure the pole. Thank you for your patience.

Week 6 of our Citizen Police Academy. Introduction to use of force decision making using a firearms training simulator. The participants have to make split-second decisions on the appropriate level of force. It was an eye-opening experience.
