This gym means a lot to me. The coaches I coach with in this gym mean a lot to me. The kids who I’ve seen compete in this gym mean a lot to me. We need to be very intentional about doing what it takes to not rob kids of an opportunity that already goes by very quickly as it is.

That one hurts. This was a team filled with great kids who represented the school with 100% class. They deserve all the good things that are coming in their future. I can’t even begin to explain what a GREAT, high character group this is and what a joy they have been.

If you’re willing to brazenly cheat/recruit to win, why are you in the game? It’s not for your players and program then, it’s for your W/L’s and personal glory? Sad, in my opinion. High school basketball should be 100% about the kids in your community you coach in.

I’ve got shocking news. If you cancel or move back the fall sports season there is a better than average chance that kids will still gather and not socially distance to your liking. They will also be less supervised than they would have been in that time practicing or playing.

Jared Lorenzen’s passing has impacted me more than any death of someone I didn’t actually know. By all accounts an awesome human. I enjoyed watching him compete in high school and college. He seemed to have an enthusiasm for life and people that we should all strive for.
