Mississippi, the poorest state in the nation, is one of only seven states that tax food bought at the grocery store. Food is a basic necessity of life and you shouldn’t be taxed just to make a meal in your kitchen. The grocery tax is anti-family, anti-life and should be repealed.
Mississippi is a wonderful state that welcomed me and Katelyn into all 82 counties over this campaign. While tonight’s result wasn’t what we wanted, I’m more confident than ever in our people. May God bless Gov. Reeves in his victory and this great state.
Mississippi deserves leaders who fight for our families, children and workers rather than themselves and their rich friends. We deserve leaders who will never forget where they came from or who put them in office.
That's why I'm running for Governor of Mississippi.
Katelyn just reminded me of the old adage, “There is a big difference in losing and quitting.” Make no mistake about it, I might have lost last night, but the word “quit” isn’t in my vocabulary. This race was never about me, but about the people of Mississippi. The fight…
🚨BREAKING NEWS: A judge has ordered polling locations in Hinds County to stay open until 8pm.
If you are in line, stay in line. If you need assistance, call our Voter Protection Hotline at 601-203-4131.
A few things that a loss will never shut me up on:
1. Medicaid Expansion
2. Ethics reform
3. Restoring our right to vote through the ballot initiative.
4. Getting the sales tax off of groceries.
I’m going to be worse than the thorn in the Apostle Paul’s side on these issues.
We’re hearing reports of long lines in the Jackson metro area. If you are in line right now – stay in line, you have a right to have your ballot cast. If you encounter any issues today, call our Voter Protection Hotline at 601-203-4131.
I conceded, called Gov. Reeves and congratulated him. I accepted the results, but that darn sure doesn’t mean this massive screw-up in Hinds Co. shouldn’t be looked into. No election denying here, but people need to know the facts of how many people lost their right to vote.
I know we came up short (no one has to remind me). But, I would like to thank volunteers like former Congressman Ronnie Shows and others who led the effort in places like Forrest County. We flipped Forrest Co. for the first time since ‘79 when William Winter was running.
This is a reminder that Tate Reeves spent your tax dollars on $4,000 ice machines, a meditation garden, a lemon tree room, and a nearly $38,000 raise for himself while our hospitals close and working families pay 7% grocery tax.
Make a plan to vote.
When my daddy was murdered, my mama became our family’s rock. I’m running for Governor to help working people like her by eliminating the tax on groceries, cutting car tag fees in half, expanding Medicaid and cleaning up corruption.
Everyone cannot be born rich and lucky. That’s why you need a governor that’ll stand up for the people of Mississippi.
Polls are open until 7pm — if you have any questions today, call the Voter Protection Hotline at 601-203-4131
NEW! This poll has us within 4 points of Tate Reeves before we even got into the race! 57% of Mississippians want someone new in the Governor’s office. It’s clear, the people of Mississippi are ready to fire Tate Reeves. Join us at
I’m proud of the grassroots campaign we’ve built over the last 10 months on the road. From Nettleton to Natchez to every rural corner of Mississippi, tomorrow is when you get to decide what future you want for our home. I’m humbly asking for your vote.
Let’s get it done!
So proud of the inroads our team made in areas where folks thought we would never compete. Sure, two slipped the other way, but truly grateful for the grassroots movement that moved these counties for the first time in 20-30 years.
Well, looks like
@BrandonPresley
flipped another rural county in
#MSGov
. Winston goes 🔵 for governor for the first time since 2007.
Other county flips >
🔵 Grenada for the first time since 1999
🔵 Yalobusha for the first time since 2003
🔵 Lowndes for the first time since 1991
I'm committed to ending Tate Reeves’ healthcare crisis by expanding Medicaid to 220,000 working Mississippians.
But we can only get this done if we win tomorrow. Make sure you have a plan to vote.
I am honored to have the endorsement of my longtime friend, Congressman
@BennieGThompson
on day one of this campaign to be Governor of Mississippi. Join us at and let’s win this race!
We’ve got this race all shook up. Election Day is almost here. It’s time to shake, rattle and roll your way to the polls on November 7th. Thank you…thank you very much.
I am officially in the race! We deserve a Governor who understands the struggles of working families, small businesses and all of our communities. We deserve a Governor who will extend healthcare to working people and save our hospitals. Join us at
As soon as I take my hand of the Bible the day that I'm sworn in as Governor, I'll expand Medicaid to 220,000 working class Mississippians.
It's the right thing to do.
Good morning, y’all. Did you see the new numbers?
Brandon Presley: 44%
Tate Reeves: 47%
This race is winnable, but we’ve got some ground to cover. I need your help to make sure we can fight from now until November.
Can I count on you to chip in $5, or any amount, right now as…
“The Cook Political Report … shifted their 2023 Mississippi governor’s race forecast on Monday in Democrat Brandon Presley’s direction.”
We have true momentum in this race.
In the Mississippi Delta, you’ve got one pediatrician per 4,000 kids. That’s wrong and dangerous.
I’m committed to funding our hospitals and making sure that our kids can get the care that they need to stay healthy.
Tate Reeves is so silly that he’s attacking my endorsement from Morgan Freeman. I’ve got news for Tate, Morgan would beat him worse than I’m going to in this election, if he was running. Tate doesn’t even know Morgan lives in Charleston, MS.
This race isn’t just winnable – it’s virtually tied. That’s why I’m traveling to all 82 counties in the state, and talking to voters that the good ole boys in Jackson have written off.
We’ve got thousands of miles and conversations left to go. Can you help fuel our movement by…
Mississippi is headed in the wrong direction and nothing makes that clearer than where I delivered my response to Tate Reeves’s State of the State address.
Watch Here:
Today, Mississippians are saying ‘no’ to:
❌ Tate Reeves
❌ The good ole boy system
❌ Corruption
And, ‘yes’ to:
✅ Expanding Medicaid
✅ Cutting taxes
✅ Bringing the government back to the people
There are 5 hours left to vote. Let’s get it done!
The next four years depend on how you vote on Tuesday.
I know that together we can move Mississippi forward, expand Medicaid, fund our rural hospitals, cut taxes, and support hard working Mississippians across the state.
Let’s get it gone!
Tate Reeves has failed Mississippians.
I’m in this race so we can expand Medicaid to 220,000 people, fund our rural hospitals in every corner of the state, and make sure that Mississippians have access to affordable healthcare.
Our Uber driver, Brenda, was telling me all about why she’s fired up to vote this year. Another hardworking Mississippians ready to move our state forward – make a plan to vote at !
Tate Reeves is so central to the state's largest public corruption scandal that his brother was caught talking with Brett Favre about using money to fund his favorite volleyball court.
Don’t forget that this race is about ALL of us. I’m committed to working with Democrats, Republicans, and everyone in between to move Mississippi forward.
Make a plan to vote. Polls are open until 7 pm.
I’m honored to officially be your Democratic nominee for Governor of the great state of Mississippi.
The next three months aren’t going to be easy, but we’re not afraid to work hard and do everything it takes to win this thing.
Will you chip in right now to support Team…
Expanding Medicaid in Mississippi would create 16,000 good paying healthcare worker jobs – and keep 220,000 working Mississippians healthy. Let’s get it done.
Make sure you have a plan to vote tomorrow.
Tate Reeves is standing in the way of 230,000 working people with jobs that he thinks he's too good to do himself getting benefits if we expanded Medicaid.
Offices are cleaned out and I shut out the lights the last time on 16 years as Public Service Commissioner. Thank you again for the trust and support you showed me during my time as Commissioner.
Even when an early poll shows us winning, I want to EARN every vote with hard work and sweat. I said a month ago that as a candidate and as your Governor, I’ll visit places that the elites don’t care about or know exists. I will be a WORKING Governor and you won’t just see me…
NEW: Incumbent Republican Gov. Tate Reeves trails Democratic challenger Brandon Presley in a new poll, and Reeves scored low marks for his handling of the Mississippi welfare scandal.
Republicans all across Mississippi are joining our movement to clean up corruption once and for all. My campaign welcomes all who want a Governor that will fight the system. This supporter even made his own sign!
Day 1 as your Governor, I’m going to expand Medicaid. It will save lives and save hospitals from padlocking their doors - it’s obvious Tate Reeves could care less.
Tate Reeves says he supports tax cuts, but he has done nothing the last 12 years while Mississippians are paying the highest grocery tax in the country.
I want to cut taxes for ALL Mississippians, while Tate wants to look out for his rich friends.
76,000 miles later, I am winding up the final weekend on this journey. We will end the campaign in my little hometown of Nettleton Monday night where all roads lead for me. Until then, we will be working 24/7 to earn your vote.
Punishing kids is never the right answer to a parent’s mistake (intentional or unintentional). Maybe if we didn’t fund things like volleyball venues and personal trainers for politicians we could fund a program that really helps the kids struggling.
Half of Mississippi’s rural hospitals are slated to close in 2 years. When we win on November 7th, we’re going to make sure our hospitals are funded in every corner of the state and expand Medicaid.
I’m in this race because I’m going to fight so that no one is left behind in Mississippi.
Election Day is 48 hours away. If you don’t have a plan to vote yet, make one!
As I work my way to Nettleton from Jackson tonight, I am making stops to talk to voters along the way. Proud to meet David who works the late shift every night at the Chevron in Vaiden.
It’s Election Day in Mississippi!
Polls are now open from 7 AM until 7 PM.

I’m not some election hopper looking for somewhere to land in public office. While I appreciate the confidence and encouragement I have received, I have zero interest in running for the U. S. Senate.
Brandon Presley, the former Democratic nominee for governor, will not run for U.S. Senate in 2024. National Democrats had been courting Presley to run for the seat held by Sen. Roger Wicker.
Just got a call from a friend in south Mississippi whose 87 year old mama had him put her in her wheelchair and roll her out on the porch to watch the rural electric co-op connect her house to broadband service. She watched on that same porch as a little girl when they got power.
There is no reason why hospitals should be shutting doors or cutting services in Mississippi while this state has a $4 billion surplus. Let’s put our money where our need is so Mississippians can get the healthcare they need.
I would also point out that
@PresleyMabusKat
lived the majority of her adult life in Grenada County until I brought her to the hills. Thanks to her hard work, we flipped Grenada Co. for Gov for the first time since ‘99 and with a better margin than anyone since Jimmy Carter.
Extending Medicaid to working folks means MS taxpayers get a 900% return on their investment. Not extending Medicaid is anti-life, anti-people, anti-jobs, anti-business and DUMB. As Govenor, I will stand up for working families, not play silly, national political games.
The Mississippi Supreme Court heard oral arguments Tuesday in a lawsuit challenging the constitutionality of lawmakers spending $10 million in public funds on private schools.
Come November 7th, he’s going to have plenty of time to go fishing. When we send him on a four year fishing trip, I’ll be gutting his decades of corruption and dismantling his good ole boys club.
I was raised in the small town of Nettleton by a single mama. I’m going to be a leader for ALL Mississippians and make sure the government works for every last person – not just the good ole boys club.
It’s time to make your voice heard. Vote on November 7th.
Tate Reeves doesn’t care about Mississippians who work for a living - all he knows are his rich friends.
Tate said, “There aren’t a lot of people in Mississippi that are working for minimum wage now.”
It’s categorically false. As governor, I’ll raise the minimum wage.
This race isn’t about political parties. It’s about finding solutions that help ALL Mississippians, whether they’re Republican, Democrat, or anything in between.
You have 4 hours left to vote.
I grew up filling up 3 liter bottles of water behind a laundromat just for a make-shift bath. I know where people are and how they struggle. When my name goes on the ballot, the name of the struggling people of Mississippi goes on the ballot.
You deserve a governor who is willing to fight to put the government back on the side of working families. Let’s clean up corruption in Mississippi starting with kicking Tate Reeves out of office in November.
Our hospitals are closing and folks are losing access to life-saving medical care and Tate Reeves had 12 years to expand Medicaid – 47 days before an election is too little, too late to act.
I’ll expand Medicaid on Day 1 so working families can get the healthcare they need.
In Mississippi, when you buy food for a hog you pay 0% in sales tax, but when you feed a baby, you pay 7%….the highest in America. How on earth does Tate Reeves think that is pro-life? I’ll axe the grocery tax.
I was raised by a single mama who lost her life because healthcare in Mississippi is far too expensive and inaccessible.
It’s time we expand Medicaid to 220,000 folks across the state to save lives and keep Mississippians healthy.
Two of our Hattiesburg volunteers, Mrs. Margaret and Mrs. Iva, spent their entire day knocking on doors for the campaign and still didn’t miss tonight’s event. Our volunteers are awesome!
When my name goes on the ballot, your name goes on the ballot.
This is a campaign by the people and for the people. I'm proud of the grassroots movement that we've built right outside your door.
Make a plan to vote on November 7th.
I get ticked off every time I see these school supply lists that are a mile long because lazy politicians won’t fully fund public schools EVERY year. It’s ridiculous that parents and teachers have to stock classrooms because “leaders” value pet projects over public schools.
We've turned the bloodhounds loose to find Tate Reeves since he won't agree to debate or even speak to the people of Mississippi in his own TV ads.
Unlike Tate Reeves, I won’t hide from the people of Mississippi!
#notscared
Tate Reeves is wrong if he thinks voters will forget about the taxpayer dollars wasted in the largest corruption scandal in state history.
As your governor, I’m committed to cleaning up corruption.
