Wow. Stunning news to come out of Brockton as Jermaine Wiggins has been named the new head football coach at Brockton. In a press release from the school, Wiggins will be introduced to student-athletes during a media availability at Marciano Stadium on Friday, April 14.
Thanks to everyone for their kind words and support. I don’t plan on going anywhere and we will continue to do our best to provide the best possible HS coverage we can.

This past weekend, 17 football teams entered the non-playoff bracket with winless records and 10 emerged victorious. I'll bet those games were not meaningless to those 10 schools and the young men who participated.
Just learned that Brockton coaching legend Armond Colombo passed away early this morning. He is as responsible as anyone for putting Massachusetts football on the map in the 1980s'. Condolences to the Colombo family during this time
As someone who has hammered the

Happy New Year to all. 2020 sucked personally for a variety of reasons but having twitter friends like you made it better. Here’s to 2021 for all of us.

Congrats

Sad to have learned that Oliver Ames boys basketball coach Don Byron passed away. As good a coach as he was, Donnie was twice the guy off the court. Condolences to his family.
Lowell has a Thanksgiving Day opponent. According to Lowell AD Dave Lezenski, the Red Raiders will be hosting Winnacunnet on Thanksgiving at 10 am.
@LowellSun
Great work by Lezenski to pull it off
Norwood sources are telling me that Kristen McDonnell is going to move over from the boys job to take the vacant girls position at Norwood High. To say she did a great job coaching the boys (a state final appearance last year) would be an understatement.

Cardinal Spellman football coach Kahn Chace has stepped down from his coaching duties effectively immediately, citing parental harassment. Too bad as Kahn is well respected in the coaching community and was working hard at rebuilding a struggling program.

As someone who attended a small Catholic school which no longer exists, I truly feel badly for the folks at Pope John (Everett) who did everything possible to keep the doors open.
Medway AD Jeff Parcells questioning the MIAA Board in regards to tournament revenues. Said he lost money hosting a tournament game and wondered why MIAA gets money when they dont provide help. Said revenue sharing is not the proper word.

They’ve also won six Super Bowns since they acquired Belichick. There isn’t a team in the league that wouldn’t trade off the loss of those picks and a few million for Super Bowl titles.
Congrats to Central Catholic QB Ayden Pereira on being named Gatorade Football Player of the Year for Massachusetts. A three-time Herald All-Scholastic, Pereira threw for 2,823 yards and 34 touchdowns, while rushing for 790 yards and 14 scores.

BC High President Grace Cotter Regan announced a $2.5M gift from alumnus John V. Murphy ’67, P’98 to build a new stadium and athletic facilities on the campus. Construction of Murphy Family Stadium is scheduled to begin in June 2022.
If May 4 is the firm reopen date, all you are getting from spring season is a shortened regular season with no tournament. Even that is now a best case scenario if all goes well.
