This morning I filed a lawsuit against Indiana Attorney General Todd Rokita for violating my first amendment rights as a journalist for barring me from his press conferences.
@AGToddRokita
The day I announced my Mayoral run, some of my D friends immediately went after old tweets and columns (which I expected). If the Ds want to argue old tweets vs the 20 people murdered in Indianapolis last month and the really bad potholes, bring it on! Happy to have the debate.
I just joined my other fellow journalists with filing an open records request regarding the cost and who attended
@AGToddRokita
's trip last January to the southern border. I will keep you posted.
After more than a decade my lovely Mother's fight against the effects of Alzheimer's ended today. She is in a better place and knowing her will not hesitate if she needs to and make a brief visit to tell me to stop talking.
If you don't want to wear a mask, because you feel it violates your rights, fine. But don't get upset when businesses exercise their rights and require you to have one before entering their establishments. Problem solved.
I was told that I don't understand poverty. They were correct. I don't understand not finishing HS, not getting a job and not waiting until I am married to have kids, especially since all the data shows doing that reduces your chances of being in poverty by 90%.
So if Indiana can join 21 other states for the permitless carry of a handgun can we get on board with the other 37 states and legalize marijuana?

Here's a thought. If you have the "liberty" to not get a COVID-19 vaccine, then your employer should have the "liberty" to discharge you and you both have the "liberty" to deal with the consequences of your actions. That's how freedom and liberty tend to work.
Remember folks, no matter much we sane individuals get along and respectfully disagree from time to time, some people are just assholes. Plain and simple.
Some good news for a change. I passed my Social StudiesβGovernment and Citizenship exam yesterday, which means now all I have to do is file the paperwork for my Indiana teacher's license.
Our little man passed away this morning. He had been ill for a couple of days. My wife is really torn up right now. Please keep her in your thoughts. We had Barack for 13 years.
I am all for bicycle safety, but cyclists need to follow the rules of the road also. How many times have you seen a cyclist run a stop sign, or for that matter a red light?
I got it confirmed this morning that the
@GovHolcomb
wasn't at the residence yesterday during the protests. He and his team were at the Statehouse and government center and one of the things there were working on...wait for it...plans on how they would safely reopen
#IN
.
I wanted to take a moment and thank all of you (friend and foe alike) for your kind words and support during my legal fight with
@AGToddRokita
. It made the battle that much easier knowing I had your support. Thanks again!
So here's the question when it comes to "constitutional" or carry. If you don't need the govt's permission to exercise your constitutional right to own a weapon, then why do we need to show an ID in order to exercise our constitutional right to vote?
All, my wife's father passed away today. He had been ill for a while but is now in a better place. Please keep my wife and her family in your thoughts and prayers during this difficult time.
" If I went out to dinner with 11 of my friends to get pizza, I donβt think all 12 of us could agree on what toppings to get. And yet you had 12 strangers who had not met each other six weeks ago come to a unanimous guilty verdict on all 34 counts. That is incredible."
So correct me if i'm wrong,, but Rokita basically said my Cheat Sheet material is part of my non journalism income,Β which means I must have income from being a journalist?Β Which means he's admitting I am a journalist? Am I missing something here?
We can have a rational discussion on
@POTUS
's decision to not run again, but for Republicans to say he is "invalidating" the will of the voters. I have two words for that, Jan 6.
One question I have is that if this was an official trip to study the border, why did
@AGToddRokita
take his son and did taxpayers foot the bill for Ryan's transportation, meals and lodging?
I had no idea that filing an open records request about a taxpayer-funded trip
@AGToddRokita
and his son took to the border, a Trump rally and Bill Clinton's boyhood home was "professional harassment" What am I missing?
I fundamentally believe that Indy is a great city with great people. However, right now we have our challenges. It will take all of us working together to solve them and holding our elected officials accountable if things don't improve.
Want better elections in Indiana? Get rid of primaries, eliminate straight-ticket voting, and let's have a serious discussion about implementing ranked-choice voting.
Just dropped off my public records request to
@AGToddRokita
in hopes of finding out why I was denied access to his news conference earlier this month. I'll keep you posted.
I must be getting old. Whatever happened to the days when people wanted more freedom and less govt dependency? Why would anyone want govt to do for them what they should be doing for themselves? And did I miss the day they taught personal responsibility? Now get off my lawn!!!
Today is election day. While I encourage participation, please only do it if you're familiar with the candidates and the issues. Walking in and blindly voting D or R does no one any good, and to be frank, I'd rather you stay home.
Statehouse Democrats call for a temporary suspension of the gas tax and excise tax on gasoline. They say it would save the average Hoosier $15-$20 per tank and cost the state about $300 million.
All, my lovely older sister Deborah Knox passed away this evening. She had been fighting an illness for a while. She is in a better place with our parents. She was a great daughter, mother and grandmother. Love you, sis.
FYI, if an illegal immigrant is "taking your job" in a universe of 3.5 percent unemployment and a skilled worker shortage, maybe your real problem lies in the mirror and not in Mexico.
While driving this morning I was pulled over for swerving. The officer asked if had I been drinking? I said no, just avoiding potholes. He told me to have a nice day.
I have to wonder if lawmakers who want to get rid of the rape exemption in SB 1 would have a different opinion if their wife or daughter got pregnant via sexual assault.
I've been asked why I chose the
@ACLUIndiana
to represent me in my 1st Amendment case against
@AGToddRokita
and why not do it myself. Two reasons; first when it comes to the 1st Amendment, the ACLU folks are about the best there is in this town. 1/2
Indiana has $5 billion in the bank. Which would you rather have them do, cut taxes, pay down teacher pension liability or spend/invest in new programs and teacher pay?
FYI, the people who stormed the U.S. Capitol a year ago tomorrow to halt the certification of the Electoral vote were not patriots, they were traitors and should have been charged with treason.
I truly believe in Dr. King's philosophy of judging others, not by the color of their skin, but by the content of their character, which is why I don't like most people.
Since everytime we declare "war" on something in this country we get more of it (poverty, drugs, terrorism) how about we declare war on common sense and good judgment? Just a thought.
Driving around town for the past few days, I have seen "Help Wanted" signs everywhere. If you can't find a job in this environment, absent a mental or serious physical impairment, the problem is very likely you.
Before we jump to blame every mass shooting on mental illness, I think we need to remember that there are a lot of people in this country who struggle with mental health issues, but don't go around shooting their fellow citizens.
Just like I don't think many of Barack Obama's critics "hated America", I don't believe many of Trump's critics do either. As an American, it is your God-given right (and sometimes your responsibility) to bitch about your government when you think things are going off the rails.
Some people will never be happy unless they are complaining about something, especially when it's something they have no intention of wanting to fix because then they would have nothing to complain about. It really must suck to be them. Can I get an "Amen"?
