I stayed up late last night to spend some time looking out the window. It was a beautiful day to see the Great Lakes and my childhood home in upstate New York.
Congratulations to
@SpaceX
and
@NASA
on an incredible launch, rendezvous, and docking of Endeavour. Incredibly honored now to be part of Expedition 63 on
@Space_Station
!
It was an honor and privilege to be part of Expedition 63. Thanks to
@Astro_SEAL
, Anatoly, &
@ivan_mks63
for making our stay on
@Space_Station
an incredible experience. Now it's time to finish our DM-2 test flight in order to pave the way for future Dragon crews. Go Endeavour!
I used two different lenses to capture these images, one showing the entire Grand Canyon and the second, a close up of the North Rim, Vermillion Cliffs National Monument, and the Kaibab National Forest.
This photo of Hurricane Isaias was taken a few hours ago as it travels northwest between Cuba and the Bahamas. I hope the people in its path stay safe and I hope it doesn’t disrupt our return to Earth on Sunday.
Yellowstone and Grand Teton National Parks; Shoshone, Caribou-Targhee, and Bridger-Teton National Forests, as well as the Wind River Mountains, all in one picture.
I zoomed in on
#Endeavour
in this great photo taken by
@astro_seal
during last week’s spacewalk. We are one month into the DM-2 Test Flight & all systems are working well.
@Commercial_Crew
&
@SpaceX
teams are working hard to finalize landing plans for some time in early August.
Nine years ago today, I was honored to be a member of the crew of STS-135
#Atlantis
as we launched from
@NASAKennedy
to close out the Space Shuttle Era of human spaceflight.
On my first flight STS-127 on Shuttle Endeavour, we scrubbed 5 times over the course of a month for technical and weather challenges. All launch commit criteria is developed way ahead of any attempt. This makes the correct scrub/launch decision easier in the heat of the moment.
Scrubs are part of conducting spaceflight safely and successfully. During my last mission to
@Space_Station
weather caught us too! We're ready for the next launch opportunity!
There's a reason the name
@NASAPersevere
was selected for another of our Agency's our endeavours!
Scrubbed. The
@SpaceX
and
@NASA
teams did great today and absolutely made the right call in a dynamic weather situation. It can be frustrating but also a very real part of getting to space sometimes. Both
@AstroBehnken
and I have experienced it. We go again on Saturday!
Standing down from launch today due to unfavorable weather in the flight path. Our next launch opportunity is Saturday, May 30 at 3:22 p.m. EDT, or 19:22 UTC
The Los Angeles Basin, where
@SpaceX
headquarters is located and where Dragon
#Endeavour
was built. The marine layer receded just enough to see Santa Catalina and San Clemente Islands.
Another Marine will be making history today. Get to know (Ret.) Col.
@Astro_Doug
before he becomes a part of history today when Americans return to space from American soil.
We'll stream
#LaunchAmerica
live 4:33 p.m. ET.
Congratulations to the incredible teams of
@SpaceX
and
@Commercial_Crew
. Flawless execution of an unprecedented flight test under the most difficult conditions.
@AstroBehnken
and I can’t thank you enough for your dedication and effort. Well done!

So excited to share the trailer for

Together with
@SpaceX
, we will return human spaceflight to American soil after nearly a decade. May 27 is not only a big day for our teams – it’s a big day for our country.

It’s official!
@AstroBehnken
and I are going to space next month and are extremely grateful to the
@SpaceX
and
@Commercial_Crew
teams continuing to do incredible work during extremely challenging circumstances. We are excited to help open the next era of human space flight.
What an incredibly special day for so many people after years of difficult and challenging work. For
@AstroBehnken
and I, it was the end of a successful test flight and our part of
@Space_Station
Expedition 63. Thanks
@SpaceX
and
@Commercial_Crew
for making it all possible.

Going back to space! I’m tremendously honored and excited to be a part of the
@SpaceX
team. To flight test a brand new spaceship is, to me, the ultimate. I am really appreciative of being given the opportunity to fly to
@Space_Station
again.
#LaunchAmerica
Congratulations to
@SpaceX
and
@Commercial_Crew
! An incredible amount of work went into our flight but it didn’t stop when we safely returned to Earth. Now with a certified capability we are just a few days from the launch of
#Crew1
.
NASA’s human spaceflight certification of SpaceX for operational astronaut flights to and from the

is the culmination of years of development, testing, and training →
So honored to be the subject of your latest work of art! Brings back so many memories of the last 5 years and all the hard work that went into making our flight successful. Your artistic talent never ceases to amaze me. Already can’t wait to see your next project!
My latest art quilt is
@Astro_Doug
’s SpaceX crew photo! I used a picture of Earth he took from ISS as inspiration for the background. Our son Jack proposed the idea of making Doug B&W with only the flag on his shoulder colored. Perfect! Medium: fabric & thread, 21.5” square.
And so, the journey begins…
With today’s launch of
@NASAPersevere
, we begin another historic mission of exploration. Our

There are lots of dynamic operations on
@Space_Station
this week, & there’s more to come with the arrival of
@Astro_Doug

tomorrow at 4:33pm ET!
Congratulations to
@SpaceX
and
@NASA
on the successful completion of Crew Dragon Demonstration-1 test flight! It’s been a joy to watch the teams in action and I can’t wait to climb on board the next one!
245 Years of Honor, Courage and Commitment

What a day! Lots of years of challenging work and sacrifice to make it to the launchpad. Hard to believe it has been a year already. Thank you
@SpaceX
and
@Commercial_Crew
!
Today’s the day. Trip to Mars, 99.9% complete. The most dangerous part comes last: the final seven minutes.
Watch my landing live starting at 11:15 a.m. PST / 2:15 p.m. EST / 19:15 UTC.

Not bad for a first try boss! By the way, the spacesuits were completely designed and built in house in less than four years by the amazing
@SpaceX
suit team.
I had the privilege to meet astronaut
@Astro_Doug
at Texas in 2016. Today he’ll be on the launch of
@NASA
’s
@SpaceX
Crew Dragon flight headed for the International Space Station. And I thought I had a cool job!

Through the crew patch for the SpaceX DM-2 mission, we pay tribute to the dedicated teams of NASA and SpaceX that have worked hard toward returning human spaceflight launches to the United States.

Our fabulous pups, Luke and Leo, in fabric and thread, quilted and ready to hang. I was thrilled to finish it in time to have it under the tree for
@Astro_Doug
on Christmas morning. 🎄
Happy Holidays to everyone!
This is incredible! I can’t begin to count the number of hours we spent in this simulator just in training for one flight. Looking forward to seeing it fully restored and to listen to those conversations as we trained for STS-135. Huge thanks to
@BonnieJDunbar
and the LSFM!
Of all the things we pulled off…
The Chinook was on the ground only four seconds. The pace car was driven by astronaut Doug Hurley. Chevy was in a panic because we literally stole the pace car to put it on the helicopter. We knew Corp lawyers would say NO so we didn’t ask. FUN!
What a day and a mission! An incredible year of work since then by the teams
@SpaceX
and
@Commercial_Crew
to get ready for DM-2. Launch day will be here soon!
A year ago today, Falcon 9 launched Crew Dragon on its first mission, which demonstrated the spacecraft’s capability to safely and reliably fly

Bob Behnken and Doug Hurley helped write a new chapter in the history of spaceflight as the first astronauts to launch to orbit in a commercial capsule. It was my honor to present them with the Congressional Space Medal of Honor.
