I know it's because he's my fave player ever, but the "streets won't forget"-ification of Hazard is very sad. He wasn't Ben Arfa/Riquelme, he was an incredibly consistent, explosive, efficient, and surprisingly never-injured superstar who carried attacks every season but one.

A reminder that "stick to sports" is a very one-sided argument. Football is inherently tribalistic and populist, and right-wing authoritarians have always used sports to move attention away from them. And today, sportswashing is extremely common.

Again, the commentator, earlier this game, said Arsenal is an opportunity for Øde to "relaunch" his career. Not a huge fan of this narrative; a teenager not becoming established at *Real Madrid* isn't exactly failure, and football outside the big clubs does exist.
