Yesterday, our new babies (20,400 of them) for our 2nd Layer Cycle were born at Zartech's Farm, Edo State! They traveled all the way to Kano & will remain at our Partner's Farm for 4 months before reaching us as POL in December,God willing. More Fresh Eggs for u in 2023 & beyond!

So we have been planning to stock 9,000 Broilers on Thursday 24th but our Day Old Chick's supplier told us that we can get birds either on Monday 21st or Monday 28th! We are rushing to finish 3 pens and everything else within 4 days! We are going manual the first go around!

Over the past few weeks, @AsadaFoods has been busy trying to set up a Broiler line in addition to the egg (layer) section. 6 Pens of 18,000 total capacity are being built. God willing, these should provide 3,000 table size chickens weekly as from Q4 2021.

By day 100, we realized we weren't going to be ready as planned. Few parts were missing or broken from the cage and feeding systems. We had to order from Ibadan. We asked for 2 weeks extension to receive the birds at 16 weeks (instead of 14), 2 weeks before they start laying!

The size of our Pen was 115m x 12m (~1,400m2). By the end of the first week, we were already out of the ground and work was picking up speed.

By the end of the first month, foundation was completed and the tedious concrete floor had began. A lot of formwork was needed to make the 3 pits. Litter would fall directly into the sloping pits and an automatic scraper would scrape it out daily!

By the end of the third month, we had started the roofing, and the installation of the Battery cages had gone far. Meanwhile, we also started the Perimeter fencing and other side works.

We ordered at the same time 20,352 birds from a reputable Farm in Kano to be delivered to us after 14-weeks as "point of lay." As such, we could not afford to have delays in the construction and installation!
