No, he’s not talking about women having bodily autonomy. It’s about kids having the option to sing a song.
Why would it be the case that retired doctors are paid £50/hour to administer

Just like the IRA does not own the Irish language it also does not own the 🇮🇪flag. Burning it on bomfires is an insult to people across Ireland in both jurisdictions. Many people in the six counties of Ulster that make up Northern Ireland view it as their flag.

leader Sir Jeffrey Donaldson on stated reasons for staying out of govt, including senior Stormont sources I speak to who say he can’t/simply doesn’t want to be deputy First Minister to Michelle O’Neill.
Please stop. I am not dignifying Jamie Bryson’s inappropriate posts with a response other than to say I have made clear in multiple ways I want nothing to do with him. I do not consent to him communicating with me. And keep my name out of your mouth.
I wasn’t going to bother but here we go. Here’s what’s going to happen. Rishi Sunak is having an unplanned meeting with politicians this evening. And a photo op tomorrow. And he will do limited media, and then leave. No proper scrutiny. No solutions. Box ticked. ENDS

Just been behind the scenes at Stormont with Sinn Féin’s Mary Lou McDonald and Michelle O’Neill. On the historic nature of the day Michelle O’Neill said “As someone said in Clonoe, it’s a great day for the parish.” And Mary Lou told me “it’s like winning the all Ireland.”😂…

it’s 2022, and that Guy Fawkes died in 1606, and Robert Lundy in 1717. Effigies of living, breathing, women politicians, and placards calling the First Minister a ‘fenian slut’ is not the same thing. NI has a women hating problem.
@bbcradioulster
When Barry McElduff offended Kingsmills families, whether he intended to or not was irrelevant. The were offended. End of. But the Bloody Sunday families are offended by the Paras insignia flute band stunt etc but their offence doesn’t appear to count? This place is messed up.
DUP MP Ian Paisley on Radio Ulster today doing nothing other than signalling loudly that he believes the union of GB and NI is in its end stages…

Hi Met Éireann. It’s kinda ridiculous you don’t include the six counties that make up the north/NI when you’re doing maps. Letting us know isn’t going to unpartition the place, like😂And I’ve got a feeling this constitutes a grievous infringement of the Good Friday Agreement🤭

Nationalist activist on Nolan (for some reason introduced as a ‘journalist’) spending significant time explaining why it was ok for SF to collapse Stormont for 3 years, but it’s now different when it’s unionists.
Oh dear. Hate mongers at their work again. This anti-Irish, homophobic banner has appeared on the M1 between junction 10 (Oxford Island) and junction 9 (International Airport). I can’t see this taking off tbh. Just not as catchy as: No woman, no cry!
Don’t shoot the messenger, lads.
A fascinating observation about the ugly misogyny and/or sectarianism in NI society that reveals itself online. *Everyone* is highlighting that a DUP politician who hasn’t received a single vote at

BREAKING NEWS: There has been a late addition to the Executive. Artist, designer and north coast woman Sara O’Neill has been appointed Stormont Fashion Minister!😂🖤
Anyone that disagrees with angry unionist men is accused of being a Shinner. Some of the men on the

I hate that I am talking to

this morning. I wish I hadn’t seen it. It’s just grim. Don’t look at it. Or share it. I understand and frequently enjoy dark humour but that isn’t what the clip and song about Michaela McAreavey is. It’s just cruel. And base sectarianism.
All the usual suspects who were lauding Davy Tweed last week might want to read today’s Sunday World.

Once again contempt shown for journalists trying to do their job. Very limited press access for UK Foreign Secretary Liz Truss on her visit to Northern Ireland today. I see RTÉ & GB News so far. You’d be forgiven for thinking there is an Irish Sea Border for media.

😂💅🏻What a week for haters. And what a ridiculous person. Seemingly not content with targeting: Bloody Sunday families; an official unionist leader and decorated British Army veteran; and an elected Alliance woman who is sharing her family health experience, he turns his bile on…
It’s fascinating to observe people just simply not getting it.

It’s Sinn Fein day. They now has 127 seats, five more than DUP had at the end of the 2019 count. We have 70ish seats to declare. SF is the the largest party at Stormont, on course to be the largest party at local council level. The political landscape on this island is changing.

Not bad for a wee girl from north Belfast.
Just back in Belfast and the rain has started. Wave after wave of sectarianism is just so grim. Please remember it’s not representative of most people. Most people are dead on.

These sort of comments raise eyebrows among all those who spent many years seeking rights afforded in GB but not NI, which the DUP opposed.
The loss of Green Party leader Clare Bailey to elected politics is huge. A committed feminist whose party made a significant contribution to the lives of people NI. The Greens can be proud of their achievements on climate, safe access zones and domestic abuse leave.

From Terence O’Neill to Michelle O’Neill has been quite a journey. As we witness the return of Stormont, a Tyrone woman, born it Cork, will take her place in the history books as the first Irish republican to be First Minister.
Local Tory (yes, we have about 500 in total) says Brandon Lewis doesn’t have any votes in Northern Ireland so doesn’t feel like he has to answer to the public. Says he meets ‘hand picked journalists in a controlled environment’. Would be hard to disagree with him…

It’s extremely disappointing to see my election posters alongside this sectarian message on an eleventh night bonfire. Leaders in the unionist community need to call these actions out and put a stop to this once and for all.
I occasionally accepted work offers from GB News on the basis that it’s useful to have at least one guest who doesn’t talk utter rubbish about Northern Ireland, and there was also the added bonus of my appearances bothering some deeply annoying people. No more. I’m out.
Sick of hearing about Casement Park. Observing from a semi disinterested distance some objections have more than a whiff of sectarianism, and simple ‘stadium envy’ insecurity because Casement will be bigger than Windsor. Just get it built so people who like sports can enjoy it🤷🏻♀️
The pitchfork carrying online mob threatening violence, and torturing businesses need to catch themselves on. If you want to honour Michaela’s memory it’s obvious non-violent means is the way to do that. You don’t match hate with hate. Hate never wins.
I think it’s important to highlight it’s entirely possible to respect Irish language, introduce legislation, AND focus on health service waiting lists. It’s not one against the other. Both are important & shouldn’t be pitted against each other. Funding of both are separate.

Spotted Sir JD. I tried a few questions. Do you think it’s appropriate your MLAs are going to take a salary if they aren’t going to do their job? Is NI going to get govt in 2022? What message do you have for people struggling to pay their bills? He put his mobile up to his ear.
Here is a copy of the Good Friday (Belfast) Agreement. As Lady Hermon mentioned often it won't take long to read. It's all there. Nothing hidden. The problem is some didn't envisage they day when domination ended. The future will be decided by the people.
An Irish language demonstration and an Orange Order parade aren’t comparable. For starters the Irish language is cross community & rights related. A centenary march is single identity, a year late & one of thousands of parades. Also both events were covered extensively by media.
I love being Irish. Not in a ‘we’re better’ than other people way. Just how class and increasingly varied we are as people makes me really happy. I love it. The craic, the stretch in the evening, the wee bit of sunshine on your face this time of year. Bliss. I’m happy today.🤍

My paternal granda was an Orangeman. In the 1970s he didn’t attend my parents wedding service. When my maternal granda died in 1980s Rev Ian Paisley came to my nana’s house to pay respects but explained he could not attend the mass. It’s 2022, well beyond time OO rules change.
Inflammatory language by the usual suspects doesn’t change the facts. Some of us are British. Some of us Irish. Some of us both. Some of us something else. People are entitled to thrive, work & explore whatever questions they want. Harassment of Colin Harvey & others should end.
Some people won’t be happy unless there's a hard border in Ireland and anyone with sense knows that's never going to happen. Wreckers already strategising over how to rubbish whatever is announced. Meanwhile the vast majority of people want a negotiated deal that respects all.
Today Nelson McCausland accused me of being “ageist, racist and sexist”. Some other fella private messaged me to call me a “scumbag” and another said the BBC love “people like you” and apparently I am a “Nolan mouthpiece” and part of the “liberal elite”. Anyway, happy

Could we all get real here. The rest of Ireland, Scotland, England and Wales have same-sex civil marriage, abortion access, legal language protection. Which of these should British and Irish citizens in the north/Northern Ireland not have? This position is simply not sustainable.
