Another one of the cheap JP basket stocks ripped yesterday limit up 29% on earnings. Endo Lighting (TYO 6932) Up 90% YTD. I'm up 70% on my small position (underweight this name). It's currently @ 0.7x tbv, 2.2% dividend, 3.8x EV/EBITDA. Cheap, but no longer 'stupid' cheap.

There's a net net Japanese co that owns land in China (bought 20 yrs ago) near a tier 1 city worth 5-10x its mcap. It's already a net-net too. Unlikely value ever gets realized and we've seen huge discounts for more liquid Chinese assets owned by JP corps (ex: Ferrotec).

Ignoring all the fundamentals (net-nets/low PEs/etc) in Japan, the macro conditions of artificially low interest rates, high nominal gdp growth, and depreciating currency are positive for nominal equity prices. These are powerful forces.

$IBKR seems like a better buy here to play the $SCHW fear. If you use Schwab, the downside to switching to IBKR is a shitty UI, but upside is they have the lowest duration fixed income port of t-bills. Plus they give better rates on cash and margin!

No one is talking about or looking at the smaller cap JP names. So many consistent companies and many trade at net-net valuations. Won't necessarily get rich, but many of these pay 2%+ dividends too. Not much, but when margin cost is 0.75%, it's ok. Rerating is a bonus
